Disappointment and waste of money
Reviewed 3 months ago

Very poor service. Before reserving I called and also sent emails to reassure that I will get a double room with a doble bed and once entered the room there were two individual beds. We didn´t have wifi in our room and after complaining about it nothing was done. I was told that it´s possible that the wifi doesn´t reach top floor and that´s it. So if I wanted to use wifi I had to sit at the reception which was ridiculous in a so called 4* hotel. The first day the breakfast wasn´t superb but it was okay, on the other had the second day, something went wrong (they didn´t bring croissants that we had the previous day and they forgot about scrambled eggs so we had to wait a lot). The apartment itself wasn`t cozy at all, the sofa had stains, there were holes in the bathrobe and the bedding. Also, it felt like being in a basement, even though the room was in a top floor, but had only one really small window. We also went to the spa, which again was waste of money. The space is really small and they let 4 other couples at the same time and literally there was no space for everybody! Although the massage was ok, it wasn´t good idea to go there. In general I wouldn´t recommand. No point to pay so much for such a poor service and conditions. I left with a bad taste in my mouth. Shame.

Nice hotel but very poor service

The hotel is nice even if rooms need to be refreshed. The service is very poor. When we came back at 2AM for our second night our room was not cleaned up ! Breakfast has to be absolutely avoided : poor quality of food, no service and served in the basement in a room with no window. Shame ! We had to cancel our third night due to that and had to strugle to get reimbursement. For a 4 star hotel, this is not what we can expect even in Spain

Pretty hotel, shame about the staff

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel while visiting for a family wedding. Our first impressions were good as it’s in a beautiful part of Altafulla and the buildings are old and atmospheric.

However, we were disappointed by many aspects of our stay. The first room we were given smelt badly of sewerage but luckily we were moved to another room in the other part of the hotel. This room was much, much nicer which seemed strange as they are all the same price. There were lights not working in our new room and it was never cleaned in our 3 day stay because they only came at the time our toddler was napping. Our biggest concern was the breakfast, which was served in a lovely outdoor courtyard but the staff were both inattentive and unhelpful, never once asking if we wanted hot drinks or even which room we were staying in! The only way you got any service was having to chase them down, definitely not when you expect in a 4 star hotel. 3 of our family members were also very ill after eating breakfast but when we informed reception they seemed neither interested nor concerned.

In summary, I would never chose to return and certainly would not recommend this hotel.

Excellent Hotel and Restaurant. Private jacuzzi on the roof with excellent views.

Excellent Hotel and Restaurant. Private jacuzzi on the roof with excellent views. There is also an alternative cheaper restaurant in an interior courtyard, where life music is played. Indeed, there you can have great drinks. Overall, excellent and relaxing experience to repeat.

a veritable treat

I happened upon this hotel by chance having arrived by train in the town. The old town is a kilometre from the beach and is an atmospheric setting for this lovely hotel. The hotel straddles two buildings and intriguingly has numerous facilities shoehorned into what seems a small space, yet never giving the impression of being cramped or poorly designed. The reception was welcoming after a weary and warm climb from the centre - and my two night stay was enchanting. The comfortable bedroom was long and cool making for a perfect siesta during the canicular heat of the June afternoons, with housemartins for company and companionable street sounds. Breakfast was unusual being a hybrid of buffet and waiter service, but excellent throughout - with an energetic jukebox of a coffee machine that delivered excellent coffee once you'd learned to understand it. I swam at the beach in glorious temperatures and ate at the nearby La Toque both evenings. A wonderful two days with an abundance of happy memories.
