Second visit just not the same
John P

We visited as a family in June for my wife's birthday. We'd been the year before to the same hotel and the location is very good. Previously we had a standard room overlooking the centre courtyard and it was nice and quiet. This time we booked what we thought were the best rooms on the 10th floor. We stayed in 909 and my children in 910.
The rooms were bigger but had several problems. They were opposite the sun terrace and/or gym so people kept watching you coming and going from your room a and the TV in the gym could be heard.
They were near the lifts and you could hear the motor as they went up and down.
The rooms were at the front of the hotel - the traffic was extremely noisy and we spent little time on the balcony.
Our main issue was the bathroom which was decorative but of no use practically.
The bathroom had two sinks, but the shelf above was in the way of you ducking your head down over the sink. Then there was a walk in shower on a higher level with a shower left and right. A bath was beyond the shower set lower down. My wife wanted a bath but the water from the tap was lukewarm. We tried to adjust the setting but to no avail. We contacted reception and they came to look and agreed that although the bathroom was decorative the fixtures were often not working.
We tried to fill the bath with the showers, but they leaked down the walls as well and so the shower tray was soaking wet and wet the bath mat we had put outside the bath to stand on.
The maid had to come and clean the shower area for us. Over the entire course of our stay we continually contacted reception in an effort to get this fixed and they (supposedly) got an engineer out, but then said they needed a new part. Several attempts to speak to the manager were not successful and when I eventually did manage to speak to him, he wouldn't do anything for us claiming that it was acceptable to be able to fill a bath with a shower and saying that he had gone above and beyond by leaving chocolates and cava for my wife's birthday (I'd actually asked for the cava in the first place and was willing to pay).
Breakfast is ok and it's self serve with a good range of food and juices. As said previously the hotel is in a good spot with many restaurants in the area. Gusto is particularly good.
The underlying problem with the hotel is that although it looks nice, you just can't have a good break here if things don't work and I won't be returning here again. It would be interesting to hear if other reviewers have stayed in 909 and whether the bath is actually fixed - I doubt very much so.

Great Value

Good location in Eixample and easy to walk anywhere. The Hotel itself is right off a very busy street so it has its pros and cons. The doors are very very loud in the rooms but the overall sleep was quiet.

Great Boutique hotel

Awesome boutique hotel just outside the craziness of La Ramblas (one or two metro stops away). The happy hour every afternoon at 18:00 to 20:00 is a nice way to start the night out. The staff is helpful and very welcoming. Not a full service hotel but near great restaurants and coffee houses.
