How to Get There
The Corner Hotel is located at Carrer Mallorca and De Muntaner, about a 20 minute walk to Las Ramblas and about a 30 minute walk to Sagrada Familia. It's in a nice neighborhood with nice restaurants. It's an attractive building and recently renovated with modern furnishings and bath. It has a nice, large lobby with a bar (FYI- The bar/lobby can get a bit loud as it has recorded music as well as live music at times-- not bands, but a singer/acoustic guitar player). Check-in was quick and welcoming (Martina checked us in and helped us get tickets to Sagrada Familia. She always had a welcoming smile every time we saw her as we walked through the lobby!).
The room was small but comfortable and the bath was modern (loved the shower!) with nice oversized towels. If there was a downside, other than hangers in the closet, there is no place to put smaller items such as underwear, socks, shorts, and polo shirts. It would be nice if they either replaced the shelving on either side of the desk with storage space or perhaps replaced the "books" with baskets that you could place these items in. As it was, we lived out of two suitcases, but it wasn't a problem. It would just make it easier had there been some accommodation for these items.
The roof (7th floor) has a great city view, pool, and lots of tables and chairs.
We purchased breakfast each morning and it was well worth it. It's convenient and the food is delicious
It was our first trip to Barcelona and the hotel was a great find!
The hotel is clean and has a great vibe in the lobby. It appears that many locals like the place and use it to work. It was crowded but the two staff members (bartender and waitress) always looked like they could use some help. The hotel is small enough to be personable. The music playlist is fantastic and we were ecstatic to find out we can listen at home on Spotify! There is a sound system in the room that we thoroughly enjoyed. The breakfast was great and never crowded. (Loved the unlimited coffee)
Let me address a few other reviews I read:
"no washcloth" - that's true - but we never had them at any hotel in Spain
"location too far from Los Ramblas" - There are so many public buses you can take which is a great way to explore the city and people watch. We found it to be close to several of the sites we wished to see.
"loud in the rooms" - Our room was so quiet and we were on 3rd floor facing street
"no taxi" - this hotel is at a busy intersection with hundreds of taxis passing by at all times.
The super friendly staff makes you feel most welcome and like being in a second home. Parts of the lobby/bar transforms during the day to an area where many guests but also locals work in a very relaxed atmosphere with nice music and good food and drinks while in the evening it becomes a cool meeting point, often with live music or DJ.
Will come back again and again!
