From the living room–style reception area (outfitted with armchairs and a fireplace) to the 11 spacious suites, equipped with kitchens and dining tables, Splendom Suites provides a cozy home away from home in Barcelona’s Eixample district. The one- or two-bedroom apartments are each tricked out with an open-plan living/dining room (plus a double sofabed) and a well-equipped modern kitchen. The decor errs on the minimalist side: think Philippe Starck furniture, mirrored tables and neutral tones, and petite tiled bathrooms that offer power showers and Molton Brown toiletries. All come with a balcony or a terra-cotta-tile terrace for soaking up the Mediterranean rays.
In the Area
Take a five-minute walk to Calle Mallorca for the Mercat del Ninot, a brilliant food market frequented by locals and the perfect place to stock up your kitchen. Appetite sated? Then check out Barcelona’s architecture. A trip to the city isn’t complete without seeing Antonio Gaudí’s most audacious building, the Sagrada Familia Basilica. You can see some of his other works, La Pedrera and Casa Batlló on the Passieg de Gràcia. Antiques lovers should head to Muebles Ram, a treasure trove of retro furniture, mirrors and trinkets. It’s also right next door to the city’s biggest flea market, Els Encants.
How to Get There
We were very happy with the location. The beds were okay but the sofa bed was one we had to report to the management. We mistakenly brought our extra key to Seville but we already mailed it back and they acknowledged it, we are still waiting for the reversal of the 100 Euro charge.
Our apartment with Uma suites/Smart Flats was very good-great location and well appointed, though the oven didn’t work. The reason for the low rating is that we were offered a discount due to the oven not working plus appalling service on the day we left when we were trying to check out -we went to the location we were told to check out at but it was closed and none of the phone numbers we were given were answered which meant that we were sent from pillar to post trying to check out. In addition, we had booked a taxi to the airport but there was no communication as to when or whether this would arrive. We spoke to Uma who said that we would be refunded part of our rental fee due to the malfunctioning oven and the poor service on check out. This dispute is ongoing (hence the late review) and we are at a stand-off now, with Uma refunding a certain amount and then, without our permission, taking back part of the refund. The apartment was great, as I said, so it’s a great shame that Uma/Smart are such an unbelievably unprofessional and disorganised outfit.
20 min walk from Las Ramblas with Cafes & Restaurants all around it. Easy and quick check in with receptionist being polite and warm. Service levels at reception and in room wee very good. As i was travelling on business Internet was important and it was very good. Good work spaces also within the Apartment. The apartment was clean, tidy and modern. It had Cafes and restaurants all around it on every corner and their were ATM nearby also. Taxis on the street outside within seconds and easily flagged down. Took an easy 20 min walk to Las Ramblas on the Monday evening and it was extremely enjoyable. Ended up at Brosque Palermo restaurant on opposite corner of apartment both nights for dinner which was so handy with good food and good people.
Will be back and no hesitation recommending this Apartment to others.
Lovely Suites, warm welcome at midnight by Husain, who had to fix the airconditioning would be great if there was regulated air-conditioning for the front & back rooms, 2 bathrooms would have been great too.
The rest of staff, Xavier and the girls were also really friendly and accommodating, our washing machine was also out of Order and the staff very kindly took our clothes and washed & dried them on the rooftop
The daily cleaning & turn down service was a lovely touch to coming home to fresh bed and towels (Fabric softener on towels would be great)
The staff were also helpful with sight tours walking distance to lovely local bars and restaurants, there was a public holiday and the staff suggested Maremagnum, which was a lovely shopping centre and outside market around the waterfront strip
Highly recomend these Suites purely for the friendly and accommodating Staff
The Splendom Suites would be nicer if it had an extra bathroom and bedroom but the excellent service from Xavier and ALL the girls made it the most happy stay for us.
Nothing was ever too difficult for the staff who always went out of their way to assist us especially the girl who helped us book the tours and the informative French girl. It was a once stop shop where we booked out tours and got all the advice about this fabulous city.
The Eixample Area is just tremendous so homely among the locals. We have a lovely balcony and enjoyed being part of this unique trendy area.
The turn down service and daily cleaning made it a delight to come home to. When our washing machine was out of order staff took in our clothes and washed it and dried it on the rooftop.
We just loved the area, so local and non touristy after La Rambla area. Great bars, restaurants and patisseries all around. You could walk to the Passige De Gracias??? and into town if you wished but plenty of public transport and taxis.
Great memories of this area and hotel!!!! A message To the management: Keep ALL your staff they are your BEST asset!!!
