Just off the Gran Via in Barcelona’s Eixample district, the Ofelias is a hip hotel with a roof terrace and a cozy lounge bar. The 44 guestrooms are all about clean lines and comfort, with a white-on-cream color scheme, chunky wooden floors, lightbox artworks and large glass doors that lead through to the bathrooms (which feature rainfall showers and luxe bath products). Triple Rooms are great for families or groups, and Terrace Rooms come with a private wooden deck. The hotel espouses a “slow travel” philosophy that promotes relaxation and healthy eating; ayurvedic and organic breakfasts are served every morning, and the property makes an ideal base from which to enjoy the buzz of Barcelona at a leisurely pace. Explore the sights and then head back for a dip in the rooftop pool, indulge in an in-room massage or kick back in the lounge bar with a cava.
In the Area
The Ofelias is located in Eixample, Barcelona’s modernist district, so watch your step: You’ll spend a lot of time looking up at the unique buildings. Your list of must-sees will be long, but near the top should be Antoni Gaudí’s world famous work-in-progress, the Sagrada Familia; the incredible Casa Batllo, built by Gaudí at the start of the 1900s; and Park Güell, with its spectacular sculptures and views across the city to the Mediterranean. Tuck into tapas at Quimet i Quimet, and try out legendary cocktail bar Dry Martini before moving on to one of Barca’s world class clubs. Just opposite the hotel, Parc de Joan Miró is a tribute to the artist; it features Miró’s striking sculpture Dona i Ocell.
How to Get There
this clean and modern hotel sits one minute from the playa espana metro station (where you take the train to monserrat), and next to a dozen good restaurants. ofelias has lightning fast internet, an absolutely excellent breakfast, and the front desk staff could not have been nicer. they printed out my boarding passes for me (for free!), and when i left my converter in the room, they looked for it and emailed me back about it. i couldn't have been happier with this hotel.
Had a great stay at the Ofelias Hotel. Easy to get to from the airport on the Aeroport Bus (first stop) plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Easy, straight walk into the centre of Barcelona or loads of busrs and the metro right outside the door as well as thw hop on tour buses. Lovely modern hotel nice room great staff. Loved the landing decor. Would definitely book there again.
A marvelous find in Barcelona far from the craziness and noise of old town, this lovely boutique hotel has been renovated with taste and subtle touches. The rooms are a good size with excellent showers with high water pressure and nice amenities. The place smells wonderful although the fragrance usage can sometimes be strong in the rooms (for some folks). A central atrium with two glass elevators separates the two wings, one with rooms facing the tree lined street and the other with a "Rear Window-esque" look into everyday Barcelona lives in apartments across a wide series of courtyards (making for good privacy). Walkways connect the wings on select floors. Soundproofing is excellent. Breakfast is well worth the added cost with eggs, many meats, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals and the usual beverages.
Uber is cheap and makes travel to any sport in the city easy but you also have public transport nearby. SANTS station being nearby is a plus. A mall across the way is massive yet almost no traffic from the door facing hotel. Convenient for quick purchases at all hours. Nice neighborhood bar nearby.
Altogether probably the best hotel both in terms of value, but also as a total package among many stays in Spain thus far. Highly recommended.
Went on a celebration trip with our friends, the hotel is nice, a bit far away from centre but we had the most horrible memory of a hotel ever and the personel at the hotel was just a shame.
My wife's hand bag including, money, drivers license, wallet, credit cards, sunglasses, normal glasses - everything! was stolen in the reception area. Quite surprised that the personel just shrug their shoulders on the the event as if it happen daily.
We arrived with taxi from the La Rambla where nothing happened, we sat down by the reception to ask a simple question and when it was our turn my wife stood up and left her bag half a meter from her (its a very small reception) and it got stolen (we saw the video...) made a police report but the hotel just ignored us, no compensation at all... no apology and it almost seemed like they were in collusion with the thieves.
I stay 50-100 nights per year in hotels and I have never experienced such a bad service and I can never recommend this hotel to anyone. Sorry! Such a shame on a quite good hotel.
We stayed here for four nights and we delighted with our choice.
Lovely bright and clean hotel, fantastic deco and high quality features. The rooms were also bright airy and clean.
Quite close to the centre, a 20 minute was straight down the strip.
The staff were friendly and helpful and always smiling. I would say the male staff are a little less friendly.
All in all a great stay and we would recommend.
