Overview

Sleek boutique with a rooftop pool and terrace in Barcelona's modernist Eixample district

The Lowdown

Just off the Gran Via in Barcelona’s Eixample district, the Ofelias is a hip hotel with a roof terrace and a cozy lounge bar. The 44 guestrooms are all about clean lines and comfort, with a white-on-cream color scheme, chunky wooden floors, lightbox artworks and large glass doors that lead through to the bathrooms (which feature rainfall showers and luxe bath products). Triple Rooms are great for families or groups, and Terrace Rooms come with a private wooden deck. The hotel espouses a “slow travel” philosophy that promotes relaxation and healthy eating; ayurvedic and organic breakfasts are served every morning, and the property makes an ideal base from which to enjoy the buzz of Barcelona at a leisurely pace. Explore the sights and then head back for a dip in the rooftop pool, indulge in an in-room massage or kick back in the lounge bar with a cava.

In the Area

The Ofelias is located in Eixample, Barcelona’s modernist district, so watch your step: You’ll spend a lot of time looking up at the unique buildings. Your list of must-sees will be long, but near the top should be Antoni Gaudí’s world famous work-in-progress, the Sagrada Familia; the incredible Casa Batllo, built by Gaudí at the start of the 1900s; and Park Güell, with its spectacular sculptures and views across the city to the Mediterranean. Tuck into tapas at Quimet i Quimet, and try out legendary cocktail bar Dry Martini before moving on to one of Barca’s world class clubs. Just opposite the hotel, Parc de Joan Miró is a tribute to the artist; it features Miró’s striking sculpture Dona i Ocell.

Nice hotel with good breakfast

Really nice, small hotel. Good breakfast and service. Only thing missing was a garbage bin in the bathroom and and a socket nearby the bed. I always use my phone as alarm clock, but I wasn't able to charge the phone nearby the bed.

Hotel Ofelias was wonderful! It was very conveniently located near the Metro and bus lines plus it was bright, clean and the food was great. We loved our room with the attached patio. It was a delight to stay there.

Really nice hotel with great atmosphere

Ofelias is not the typical business hotel. And thanks for that! Great atmosphere. Well located close to good restaurants, coffee shops and in walking distance from the Rambla at the sea.

Nice rooms - not 800€ per night quality, but not bad at all! Few rooms with private outdoor terrace at ground floor. Great for enjoying the mild weather when in the hotel. If you need to work while at hotel, choose rooms at upper floors, as you will notice the metro passing under the hotel every 2-3 minute.

Will be back again!
