Overview

Sleek boutique with a rooftop pool and terrace in Barcelona's modernist Eixample district

The Lowdown

Just off the Gran Via in Barcelona’s Eixample district, the Ofelias is a hip hotel with a roof terrace and a cozy lounge bar. The 44 guestrooms are all about clean lines and comfort, with a white-on-cream color scheme, chunky wooden floors, lightbox artworks and large glass doors that lead through to the bathrooms (which feature rainfall showers and luxe bath products). Triple Rooms are great for families or groups, and Terrace Rooms come with a private wooden deck. The hotel espouses a “slow travel” philosophy that promotes relaxation and healthy eating; ayurvedic and organic breakfasts are served every morning, and the property makes an ideal base from which to enjoy the buzz of Barcelona at a leisurely pace. Explore the sights and then head back for a dip in the rooftop pool, indulge in an in-room massage or kick back in the lounge bar with a cava.

In the Area

The Ofelias is located in Eixample, Barcelona’s modernist district, so watch your step: You’ll spend a lot of time looking up at the unique buildings. Your list of must-sees will be long, but near the top should be Antoni Gaudí’s world famous work-in-progress, the Sagrada Familia; the incredible Casa Batllo, built by Gaudí at the start of the 1900s; and Park Güell, with its spectacular sculptures and views across the city to the Mediterranean. Tuck into tapas at Quimet i Quimet, and try out legendary cocktail bar Dry Martini before moving on to one of Barca’s world class clubs. Just opposite the hotel, Parc de Joan Miró is a tribute to the artist; it features Miró’s striking sculpture Dona i Ocell.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff and great service
Reviewed 6 days ago

We stayed for 5 nights and loved every minute of it, the hotel is absolutely beautiful and the swimming pool on the roof was a nice way to unwind after a busy exploring the city.

The rooms are very modern and have a luxurious feel.

The breakfast buffet was delicious and the service from all members of staff was outstanding. Ofelias Hotel is truly special a place and I would highly recommend it if you're looking for a romantic/luxury city break.

Elegant with fine location

AS it the case with many hotels in Barcelona, Ofelias Hotel is carefully designed with a nice and elegant design-focused mindset. Nice rooms, clean, elegant decor. Friendly and service-minded personnel and a fine breakfast-buffet. Living there is easy.

A lovely boutique hotel

This is a great boutique hotel away from the madness of Las Ramblas and the gothic quarter. With a metro station across the road it's easy (and cheap) to get anywhere. Friendly helpful staff. Very nice rooms with opening windows (yay! ) and a great breakfast. Would happily stay here again

Beautiful hotel but that’s all
Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The hotel is absolutely stunning. Room cleaned by friendly maid every day. Great breakfast selection and beautiful pool but the let down really was the staff. All of the receptions and even the breakfast staff were terrible. Not friendly, not helpful, didn’t ask how our stay was, didn’t greet us with a smile. Our fourth day we woke with no hot water, we phoned reception and they already knew, no apology or anything just, it will be fixed when it’s fixed. Sort your staff out before charging such prices.

Don't Be Fooled
Reviewed 1 month ago

Don't be fooled by the website for this hotel. Although the rooms are clean, there is nothing else to recommend. The hotel is completely lacking in atmosphere, the view from the rooms is of the local residents with their washing hanging out (even from the upper floors), the location of the hotel is an unattractive part of the City (there are no appealing sites or cafes to walk to), and the staff are somewhat rude.
