Plunge yourself into the beating heart of buzzing Barcelona with a stay at NH Collection Barcelona Gran Hotel Calderón. This five-star hotel is located in the city’s Eixample district and was built on the site of the old Teatro Calderón. Completely renovated in 2016, the hotel’s eleven floors boast a bright, contemporary style, polished rooms, an elegant bar and a renowned Italian restaurant headed up by an award-winning chef. The crowning jewel, though, has to be the rooftop swimming pool and solarium, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the city.
The hotel’s incredible location puts you right where you want to be in the Catalan capital. A short walk away is the legendary Las Ramblas, where constant parades of people promenade past colorful flower stalls, lively bars and historic cafés. Meanwhile, shopaholics will be drawn to the nearby Passeig de Gràcia, the city’s most renowned shopping street. The Gothic Quarter, another one of the city’s most popular attractions, is just a 15-minute stroll from your front door.
Premium rooms feature neutral décor, wooden flooring and a chic, urban style. You’ll be able to enjoy 215 square feet of space, a sitting area and an en-suite bathroom with a rain shower. Other thoughtful touches include a Nespresso machine and a pillow menu.
Buffet breakfast is included (with great smoothies and fresh juices), while an elegant bar is on hand for expertly crafted cocktails. Fine dining is available at Don Giovanni, where award-winning chef Andrea Tumbarello has put together an exquisite à la carte menu of Italian favorites.
The hotel sits in a fantastic (yet surprisingly quiet) location on Rambla de Catalunya, not far from Plaça Catalunya, one of the city’s main transportation hubs. It’s a 10-minute walk to Las Ramblas, while shopping mecca Passeig de Gràcia is a mere block away. Iconic Gaudi buildings, such as Casa Batlló, La Pedrera and La Sagrada Familia, can also be reached on foot. Other must-sees include the Picasso museum, La Boqueria food market and the winding alleys of the Gothic Quarter.
How to Get There
Great hotel breakfast, very good location and good staff
The rooms are of decent size and staff are mostly welcoming and friendly.
Only a short stay of 2 nights this time, though some issue with the housekeeping staff,
this is still the preferred hotel in Barcelona
A modern and stylish hotel in a central location, we enjoyed our March stay at the NH Calderon. We stayed for 3 nights and received excellent service from every member of staff we encountered. The breakfast buffet was ample and diverse, with cold and hot options, including options for those in our large party with dietary restrictions. The breakfast staff went out of their way to accommodate the picky eaters in the group and to make us feel like we were valued guests. The concierge staff provided lots of great advice on how to navigate during our few days in Barcelona. All of our rooms were clean and well maintained, with prompt cleaning each morning and a nightly turndown service which was great after a long day. I'd stay at this hotel again and would, based on this experience, seek out other NH hotels when I travel.
It's a wonderful hotel if you're after location and value. While it is pricey, it's also one of the better options in Barcelona on the better end of hotels (there are other budget hotels in the area too.
This hotel feels like a more luxurious hotel by Eu standards, and is in a perfect location to get the main areas / attractions of Barcelona (except the beach of course).
A nice rooftop lounge too with a great view in the evening. If budget is no object then it's a great hotel.
Room is not massive - but very few hotels in the city centre get any bigger than this anyway.
From check in to check out everything was great. We had a two day meeting at this hotel and the staff was on top of every detail and always with a smile. The breaks, lunches and breakfast were all over the top. Our customers were taking pictures of the food, not only delicious but "beautifully presented. The sales team responded quickly to my many requests and were always accommodating - even stopping by to thank us for choosing their hotel when we checked out. The concierge was extremely helpful, making recommendations on things to see and places to eat. Ask them to recommend local, family owned restaurants (some of the best food we had in Barcelona). I cannot say enough about how nice and friendly everyone was. The hotel is in a great location - very walkable. The friendliness of the staff and their willingness to help made for a successful meeting and a great experience for all who stayed at the hotel. Thank you - Jose, Maria, concierge, wait staff, front desk staff and to the lovely lady who made up my room every day!
I visited for 2 days with my husband and then 2 days business. This hotel is fantastic. It’s in a superb location. The staff are very courteous and friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. Special mention to Olga on reception.... she’s a credit to this hotel.
The rooms are spotless and well maintained. The shower is fantastic and toiletries supplied are of good quality. The real jewel in the crown is the rooftop bar and terrace. Again, fantastic staff and service.
All in all 5 star experience .... I can’t wait to return to this gem of a hotel and wonderful city.
