Plunge yourself into the beating heart of buzzing Barcelona with a stay at NH Collection Barcelona Gran Hotel Calderón. This five-star hotel is located in the city’s Eixample district and was built on the site of the old Teatro Calderón. Completely renovated in 2016, the hotel’s eleven floors boast a bright, contemporary style, polished rooms, an elegant bar and a renowned Italian restaurant headed up by an award-winning chef. The crowning jewel, though, has to be the rooftop swimming pool and solarium, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the city.
The hotel’s incredible location puts you right where you want to be in the Catalan capital. A short walk away is the legendary Las Ramblas, where constant parades of people promenade past colorful flower stalls, lively bars and historic cafés. Meanwhile, shopaholics will be drawn to the nearby Passeig de Gràcia, the city’s most renowned shopping street. The Gothic Quarter, another one of the city’s most popular attractions, is just a 15-minute stroll from your front door.
Premium rooms feature neutral décor, wooden flooring and a chic, urban style. You’ll be able to enjoy 215 square feet of space, a sitting area and an en-suite bathroom with a rain shower. Other thoughtful touches include a Nespresso machine and a pillow menu.
Buffet breakfast is included (with great smoothies and fresh juices), while an elegant bar is on hand for expertly crafted cocktails. Fine dining is available at Don Giovanni, where award-winning chef Andrea Tumbarello has put together an exquisite à la carte menu of Italian favorites.
The hotel sits in a fantastic (yet surprisingly quiet) location on Rambla de Catalunya, not far from Plaça Catalunya, one of the city’s main transportation hubs. It’s a 10-minute walk to Las Ramblas, while shopping mecca Passeig de Gràcia is a mere block away. Iconic Gaudi buildings, such as Casa Batlló, La Pedrera and La Sagrada Familia, can also be reached on foot. Other must-sees include the Picasso museum, La Boqueria food market and the winding alleys of the Gothic Quarter.
How to Get There
We stayed at the NH Calderon for two nights on a family trip and it was a great option. The hotel is very well located a few blocks from everything. The rooms were clean, modern, snd the staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooftop bar has a great view... I definitely recommend it.
My daughter & I had a wonderful stay at this immaculate hotel. It is centrally located. Enjoy a short walk to Las Ramblas. The breakfast buffet had an assortment of Spanish ham, cheese, breads, fresh squeezed juice, smoothies, yogurt, & cereal. There is also the option to order from the kitchen. I ate a delicious omelette daily. There is a state of the art espresso machine. Restrooms in the lobby/buffet area are very well kept.
My room was modern and spacious. There was a desk space. Complimentary tea and coffee was thoughtful. We had a spectacular view overlooking beautiful Barcelona.
Customer service was exceptional. Kevin and Samira were always quick to assist us. They are knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. Betti personally escorted us to our room. The blonde hostess at the buffet was very attentive and welcoming.
There is a small rooftop pool and a very chic bar. Magnificent views of the city and a cozy seating area.
The lobby design was “uncomfortably modern”. There were no comfortable places to sit, just low sofas with very low backs (can’t lean at all), hanging basket chairs and such. Our room was good, nice view, but not as great a bed as other places we have stayed recently. We both managed to hit our heads on the towel warmer mounted on the wall opposite the toilet in the bathroom. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. Loved the breakfast food, but it was hard to get coffee because of the layout. Wonderful location!
I have returned from a 2 night stay at this lovely hotel! Really great customer service and Great breakfast!
The hotel is the most perfect location in the centre of town lots of restaurants to eat outside.
We used the roof top every day and lots of space up there. I would recommend this hotel or stay here again if I go back to Barcelona.
Rooms are a nice size and hotel smells really nice. We also used the gym on the ground floor which was in good condition.
My husband and I booked the hotel for three nights before we joined the Oceania, Riviera cruise.
We arrived the hotel at approx. 9ish, I know the check in time is 3 pm but since we flew from Hong Kong, we thought may be they will let us have the room earlier.
David was the man helped us check in and he is very helpful, let us have the room at once and he is very friendly, too.
The location is super convenient since we have been to Barcelona a few times before, so this time we only have a relax holiday. We got up around 9:30 in the morning and went out for breakfast , there are so many eateries nearby and they are in walking distance. Passieg de Gràcia where all the brand names are, just a few blocks away.
The room is good and clean, consider quite big and we have no complaints at all.
