Beautiful Barcelona gives you the best of both worlds. On the one hand, it’s the ultimate European city escape, a thriving cosmopolitan hub of cultural sights, spectacular architecture and fresh food stalls. On the other, it’s also a dazzling seaside getaway, with a balmy climate, sandy beach and permanent feel-good vibe.
Located in the Villa Olímpica neighborhood, H10 Marina Barcelona boasts spectacular views over the bustling city and the Mediterranean beyond. Just a stone’s throw from the crowds and intoxicating sights of the city center, the hotel is a haven of peace and quiet.
After a busy day of savoring tapas, sipping sangria and exploring the city’s eclectic architecture – with imposing gothic cathedrals at one turn and Gaudi’s masterpieces at the next – you’ll be able to switch off in the Despacio spa with a lap in the heated pool, a session in the sauna or a relaxing beauty treatment.
Good to know
Please note that a tourist tax of €1.21 per person (aged 16 or over), per day is payable at the hotel.
The rooftop pool and Skyline bar are closed during the colder months.
Standard Double rooms are bright and spacious, with a modern décor and an en-suite bathroom.
You’ll be able to kick-start a busy day of sightseeing with a buffet breakfast of fresh, seasonal fruit, baked pastries, cereal and hot food. If the city center’s intimate tapas bars don’t draw you in, you’ll be able to recharge with Mediterranean à la carte dishes and exquisite wines in Dionissos Restaurant. For light refreshments, the La Llum Bar in the lobby and the eighth-floor Skyline Terrace are the ideal spots for an evening tipple over city views.
The Despacio Spa Center has it all: a heated pool with Niagara jets, a warm-water pool, a cold-water pool with pebbles, plus a Jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish bath, ice fountain, heated loungers and a gym. You’ll also be able to treat yourself to a range of beauty and body treatments.
Staying just steps from Bogatell metro station (L4) Marina metro station (L1), you’re within easy reach of Barcelona’s main attractions. Spend your time taking in the stunning Sagrada Familia and wandering the narrow streets of the Barri Gothic, or browse the high-end shops and famous homes of the Paseo de Gracia. Alternatively, head to the gorgeous beach, stroll along the Marina Promenade, take in the bustling atmosphere of La Rambla or take a cable car up to up to Montjuic for fantastic city views and the mesmerizing light-fountain show.
How to Get There
I visited this hotel in October 2018, and enjoyed it so much that I visited again in August 2019.
Situated in a modern residential area, the nearest Metro stop is Bogatell (about five minutes' walk away), where a single trip is €2,20 or you can purchase ten trips for €10,20. This suited us as we didn't mind a bit of travel and it was nice and peaceful! Please be aware though that pickpockets are active on the metro - my mum had her purse stolen in a metro station.
The rooftop pool was definitely a factor in me returning, and again I wasn't disappointed - the service by staff at the rooftop was fantastic, and the drinks were also good. The hotel offers complimentary towels for the pool, and the sunbeds are comfortable - but due to the lack of space at the rooftop pool, there aren't many!
Accommodation-wise, last time I visited I was upgraded to a Junior Suite, and unfortunately didn't get the same treatment this time. Nevertheless, the room was clean and well-stocked, with a modern bathroom and complimentary safe. A kettle with some coffee and tea was available from reception for €3,50 though it wasn't really replenished throughout our stay. Something which we became aware of during our stay was that there was a strong smell of cannabis in the corridor of our floor, which we though nothing of - until the smell started to come through the air conditioning in our room! We worked out which room it was coming from and informed reception, who were happy to resolve this issue.
We chose to include breakfast with our booking - I can honestly say I wasn't disappointed. There was a wide variety of breakfast, including a number of fresh fruit juices, Nespresso, pastries, cold meats, and cooked breakfast. There were also items for those with dietary requirements - some gluten-free items, soya milk, and lactose-free milk. It's definitely worth paying for.
We ate at the bar on the ground floor on one occasion, and had drinks there a couple of times - unfortunately the service was slow (if it was any slower, there wouldn't have been any at all!) to the extent we actually went to the bar to order, as well as pay. This was rather disappointing as the staff at the rooftop bar were quick and attentive.
On other evenings, we ventured into the local area for dinner - there are a lot of restaurants on the seafront, however if you walk along the 'pier' you will be harassed and encouraged to visit each restaurant by staff. We very much enjoyed the Iaia Christina restaurant, which is around 20 minutes walk from the hotel.
Navigating Barcelona is easy by public transport - the metro is fantastic and quite easy to work out (though there is an app called Barcelona which may help you navigate). We visited the Sagrada Familia, Picasso Museum, and Montjuic Castle (which is on top of a hill, and gives wonderful views across Barcelona).
One small frustration was that we required a late check-out, and when speaking to reception staff they said that this would be fine, and to just book it on the morning of our departure. When we went to sort this, we were told that we weren't able to check-out late due to the hotel being fully-booked, so had to rush about packing our stuff! We were, however, given complimentary use of a small shower room to freshen up before we left, following a day by the pool.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my second stay at H10 Marina, and would gladly return tomorrow!
Stayed in a few hotels and this one is by far my favourite, the location is close to the beach in a quiet area (as good as it gets in the city) rooms are very nice and we got upgraded to a suite which was amazing. The staff are very friendly and cant do enough to help you, you also need to check out the pool and bar on the 8th floor. We will definitely stay here on our next visit.
Very disappointed with H10, had this hotel booked for 14 month before we travelled, and were told the day before our holiday that the hotel had cancelled our reservation, evenafter our travel agent had rung them.
We had to book a 2 star budget hotel who had vastly inflated its prices due to the Thomas Cook collapse. Will not trust H10 again
