H10 Itaca is a decidedly chic four-star hotel in the center of one of Europe’s most popular cities. Situated in the modern Eixample district, not far from Plaça Espanya, this boutique property is surrounded by incredible architecture, UNESCO-listed monuments and incredible nightlife, making it an excellent base for enjoying the best of Barcelona in style – so excellent, in fact, the hotel has nabbed a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence every year since 2011.
A recent refurbishment brought H10 Itaca’s décor and facilities to the next level – think extra polish in the modern reception area and lobby bar, a cool terrace with bar service, plus a brand-new plunge pool with sun loungers. There’s also a solarium, outdoor Jacuzzi, sauna and gym (just because you’re in a big city doesn’t mean you can’t carve out a bit of me-time). And although you’re surrounded by world-class dining, you won’t want to miss the hotel’s own Bamboo Restaurant, serving up a delicious array of Mediterranean dishes.
H10 Itaca’s rooms are bright and spacious, with modern décor and a stylish red-and-white or neutral color scheme.
Bamboo Restaurant is an elegant, à la carte affair with a select menu of the hotel’s signature Mediterranean dishes. There’s also a recently renovated lobby bar for cocktails and snacks, while El Jardi Terrace, near the plunge pool and sun lounger area, offers drinks by day and open-air dining by (summer) night.
Barcelona is rich in gorgeous architecture and UNESCO-protected sites, so pack your camera and comfortable walking shoes. The hotel is in the heart of Barcelona’s Eixample neighborhood, near Sants Station and the Montjuïc exhibition center. Disappear into history in El Barri Gòtic (the Gothic Quarter), a 17-minute drive away, or take the 10-minute journey to see the latest developments at Gaudi’s unfinished church of the Sagrada Família (under construction since 1882). If the weather agrees, leave city life behind and feel the sand beneath your toes on Barceloneta Beach, a 15-minute drive away. Its boardwalk is also a great place to start exploring the city’s vibrant restaurants and nightclubs.
How to Get There
This hotel was part of a package deal, and billed as 4 stars. I am not impressed. Their webpage says it has recently been renovated, but they mayh have skipped the room I am in. The double curtains do not close all the way, having come out of their tracks, letting early light in and waking me up far too early. The one and only chair in the room is old and dirty and stained. I would not sit on it without covering it with a towel first. And the bathroom has the promise of greatness, but they forgot to update the bath. A glass screen has been added but the bath itself is looking very tired. Add to that a kettle that leaked and tv that did not work, and once they had it working, did not give me the channels advertised in their information booklet, and you see why I was not impressed. The staff is all very kind, friendly and helpful. When I told the lady who cleans the rooms that my kettle was leaking, she said: no problem, and swapped it with the kettle from the room she was just cleaning! And being at the fron of a busy street, the traffic noise is pretty annoying, especially with a hospital nearby. And I just found out there is a jail just down the next street.Would I stay here again? Problably not. If you are booking here, make sure you ask for one of the renovated rooms.
Hotel itself was very nice but felt the breakfast was quite poor the staff were very pleasant and always busy making the place a nice stay we have book another h10 for next year but have booked down at the marina as the Utica was a wee bit far out of the town centre
I stayed one night for business in this hotel and it was a good stay. The hotel is new and modern, the rooms were clean and also seemed quite new.
I was surprised that they manged to give me the smallest room in the hotel, the room consisted of only a bed, no desk to do some work on and no where really to leave my clothes.
The cleaning staff were very friendly and efficient.
The restaurant was fine for a hotel, food was good and staff was very friendly.
Overall the stay was fine, but I wouldn't stay here again.
