Barcelona is a truly rare find – on one hand, it’s the ultimate European city destination: a thriving cosmopolitan hub of cultural sights, spectacular architecture and fresh-food stalls. On the other hand, it’s a glamorous seaside getaway with warm weather, a sandy beach and a permanent feel-good vibe. So if you’re planning on seeing what this ultra-chic city is all about, you should make sure you do it right – that’s where H10 Plaza Catalunya comes in.
Located in the heart of Barcelona, on the Plaza Catalunya, this boutique hotel is the perfect base from which to explore the Gothic design and tapas haunts of this eclectic city. Behind its 19th-century Catalonian façade, this recently refurbished pad boasts a renowned restaurant, a garden terrace and plenty of inviting chill-out spaces, all given the magic touch by renowned interior designer Lazaro Rosa Violan. True to form, the hotel boasts crisp, airy rooms, soft, sumptuous furnishings and neutral décor, all mixed with striking design pieces and antiques from around the world.
The tastefully decorated Deluxe Square rooms are spacious and bright, with black and white décor accented by light wooden floors. The rooms feature elegant French windows that look out onto the bustling Plaza Catalunya – Barcelona’s impressive central square.
A delectable breakfast is served each morning, and during the day, a coffee station in the lobby offers coffee, tea, water, cava and pastries. Elsewhere, the stylish Library Bar serves up coffee and cocktails, which can also be enjoyed out on the lovely garden terrace.
Staying in the heart of the city, you’re easily within reach of Barcelona’s main attractions. Spend your time taking in the stunning Sagrada Familia and wandering the narrow streets of the Barri Gòtic, or browse the high-end shops and famous homes of the Passeig de Gràcia. Alternatively, stroll along the sand by the beach or on the Marina Promenade, take in the bustling atmosphere of La Rambla or catch a cable car up to up to Montjuic for fantastic city views and a mesmerizing fountain light show.
How to Get There
I totally enjoyed our stay at this boutique hotel. The staff is attentive and nice and are very helpful. The rooms are clean and the badroom is stocked with lots of lovely soaps and oils to pamper yourself. Don't forget to book the room with breakfast included. It's by far the best breakfast i've had in a hotel.
Arrived for my 40th Birthday reception staff very welcoming, fab room with complimentary bday cake and bubbles. Complimentary snacks in bar area. Beautiful relaxation garden. Great central location, bus stop to airport outside hotel by fountain. Will certainly stay in more H10 hotels. Thank you for making my birthday special.
Our first time to Barcelona, but don't think it will be the last. The hotel was fabulous, lovely welcome by friendly and helpful staff. The room was spotlessly clean, water and coffee were provided complementary and replenished each day. The bathroom was stocked with toiletries, bathrobes and slippers and the shower was always hot. Breakfast was plentiful offering a mix of English and continental food with regulars refills of tea, coffee and fruit juice as needed. The staff were always pleasant and helpful and ready to offer advice. It was my husbands birthday during the stay and champagne and cake were sent to the room to help us celebrate.
The location of the hotel is excellent being at the top of the Rambles and near the metro station, open top bus tours and bus transfers to and from the airport.
Would definitely return to this hotel
My room was 315. A great corner room with a very comfortable bed, decent bathroom and a small balcony overlooking the plaza. The location was fantastic. Very touristy but you can easily get lost in the gothic quarter and walk to all of Gaudi’s amazing buildings. The breakfast was also very tasty and plenty to choose from. Staff on the front desk were helpful and very friendly. All was very very good except for the noisy neighbours. Sadly you do hear your neighbours but that was the only drawback.
We found the hotel Catalunya plaza very easily from the airport - we jumped on the autobus A2 and it delivered us right opposite the hotel.
The decor and ambiance was really lovely exactly what we expected from H10 (having stayed twice before in their chain.)
Our room was equally lovely, it felt quite Art Deco and we had a lovely view with balcony over the square.
The staff was really friendly and couldn’t do enough.
We felt the WiFi let this hotel down - we had to reconnect every 5 minutes having to insert room number, name and email address got very tiresome, but that was our only negative. We had an absolute blast so centrally placed.
