How to Get There
The rooms all have really great views of the city below, and we had a corner one which is really the best. They are at present undergoing very big alterations but the general running of the hotel is not affected by this and the staff are always so very kind and helpful. It is super as it is very close to the station, taxis and buses which makes getting around very easy. There are also plenty of places to eat close by and they have just opened a new super market just around the corner from the hotel. I will always go there regardless of the price should it increase!!
Hotel is conveniently located about 200m away from sants station. A metro station (sants estacio) to the north of the hotel that will take you to downtown la rambla is a mere 2 minute walk (290m). This would be the best hotel if you don't intend to stay in Barcelona for too long.
We stayed at 2 different hotels before and after the cruise. This is the one we stayed before the cruise for two nights. I wondered why there were mixed reviews when I was checking this hotel and now I know. First of all, when we got to the lobby, it is like 3 star as it's small, carpet is very dirty and outdated. We booked a comfort double room and was given a room on 6th floor. The room is outdated and the bathroom has mildew and rust. This room was not what was advertised on the website as the pictures and description have indicated a nice view. However, the room we were given was facing a parking lot. To make the matter worse, the bed is hard and the pillow is of the lowest grade. We were kept awake the whole night by a machine or something that is moving up and down the whole night. We finally figured out it is the elevator. Our room is down the hall by the renovated side and the wall insulation must have been removed. The next morning, I expressed my disappointment at the front desk. The lady was nice to hear my concern and said all their rooms were sold out. So I asked to talk to the manager. The front desk manager finally called me and said they will move me to the 18th floor. She was not very nice about it on the phone. The room on the 18th floor is much nicer like the pictures advertised on the expedia website. The bedding and pillows are of much better grade. If you go to the hotel website, they have different types of rooms but expedia only have one type of comfort double room. The higher floor rooms have been updated and do match the 4 star category. The lower floors room are like 3 star motel and not nice at all.
2nd visit to this hotel and not disappointed. The hotel is undergoing a fairly extensive renovation project over the next 2 years, working bottom up from what I can gather. Other than the spa and downstairs bar being out of action, the hotel is doing a good job to reduce any impact of these works.
Rooms are good, spacious and have fantastic views. Breakfast is worth the money just for the views but the quality it is very good, with Good choice throughout; although the hot area wasn’t necessarily to the full tastes of a British palate, but still fine nonetheless
The front of house staff are excellent; friendly, attentive and very helpful. Although I gave the hotel 4 starts, these guys deserve 5 stars
This hotel is just across the street from one entrance to the Barcelona central railway station which is why we chose it. But when you get off the train, there are no signs to the hotel. We ended up taking a taxi.
When we pulled up outside the hotel, the entire facade was under construction and covered with scaffolding. Yikes! But a hotel employee was there to take our luggage in so what the heck. The lobby showed no signs of the construction and the reception was super friendly. The hallway to the elevator had one plywood wall but once we reached our floor there were not signs of construction.
The first view of the room is breathtaking. Floor to ceiling windows on two whole sides with fabulous views over Barcelona. Everything is done in marble. The bathroom is one of the nicest I have seen in any hotel. Excellent beds.
The price was very reasonable for what you get. We would stay here again anytime and not worry about renovations.
