How to Get There
What a wonderful hotel! Very modern and clean interior, great location near Barcelona Sants and a quick ~10 minutes metro ride to get to the main area. Our 'comfort' room was very spacious, clean and the bed was massive! The staff were lovely upon arrival and sent up champagne + fondue since they knew it was our anniversary - very nice of them! We were on the 16th floor with a North view and it was beautiful! The view on the South side may have been better, so I'd recommend asking for a room on a high floor with a Southern view.
We had a wonderful time in Barcelona and the hotel was a big part of that. I would definitely stay here again!
The Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya, a converted glass office tower, rises right across the street from Barcelona Sants Station, from where the metro takes you anywhere in the city. The spacious corner suite on the twenty-second floor was very good value for money. It was on the top residential floor in the corner with the best views.
The living room featured views to the southeast, of Montjuïc and all the way to the old town, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Torre Mapfre / Hotel Arts complex. The corner bedroom had the same view plus views to the northeast, of Torre Agbar and the Sagrada Família in the distance. If you craned your neck, you could even see Mount Tibidabo with the Torre de Collserola and the Sagrat Cor. Even the bathroom had ample windows (with blinds, of course) affording these views to the northeast. All in all, 270 degrees of Barcelona at your feet.
There were mini-bars/refrigerators and huge TVs in both the living and the bedroom. The living room also had a desk with chair, a stereo, a couch, a chaise longue, a coffee table, a tea maker, a capsule coffee maker, and an extra guest toilet. The bedroom offered a huge bed with plenty of pillows, a small table with two cocktail chairs, sufficient closet space, a safe, a hairdryer (in a bag in a closet), iron, and ironing board. The marble bathroom had a tub, a giant shower stall, two sinks, plenty of mirrors, towels, and toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, and a separate toilet with a bidet. All floors and many walls throughout the suite were marble as well.
If you don't have a corner suite, you can get similar views from the rooftop restaurant. For al fresco dining, there's an open-air rooftop burger restaurant atop the affiliated Expo Hotel next door, which is however a much shorter building. The view of Montjuïc from the quiet tables over to the right is nevertheless nice.
You have to leave the keycard in a slot by the door to have power in the suite. In-suite Wi-Fi was free and worked well. So did the air conditioner in the suite.
There were two Minute Maids and two cupcakes waiting in the room as a welcome. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
I booked this hotel for an overnight prior to boarding a cruise ship. First, the location was perfect! We took a train from the airport and about 6 stops from the airport we got off the train walked up to the street and were standing in front of the hotel! Doesn’t get any easier than that! Hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating! We were given an option of adding breakfast to our booking for around 20.00 USD .... With a bit of hesitation we decided it would be less of a hassle to eat at the hotel. We were very pleased with the breakfast and glad we decided to eat there! Only issue we had was the extra bed put into the room was a daybed that was not comfortable at all. At midnight, when we called the front desk, they sent up a comfortable bed and switched everything out within about ten minutes! The next time I’m in Barcelona, I will be staying here again!
Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, great hotel and good location close to 3 metro lines makes it very easy to get around the city. We had a room on the 20th floor which had great views of the city. The room itself was very spacious, bed very comfortable, big bathroom with separate large shower, all toiletries Ritual were fab. Stayed on room only basis, at checkin we were offered to add on breakfast at €35 per night which seemed very expensive lots of cafes close by where we paid €9 for breakfast for 2. Staff very friendly, hotel very clean would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return 😀
