Lovely hotel. Centrally located, modern, nice room with all the amenities we wanted and anprivate balcony. The breakfast buffet was great, having a variety of choices. And the staff from management to maids, were professional and helpful.

Great hotel in Barcelona

My three adult daughters and I had three quality rooms, one with a pool and two with furnished terraces. Quiet and well located with very attentive staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel in Barcelona.

GREAT hotel near La Rambla!

We booked this room on a whim after a bad experience at a nearby apartment rental and just could not have been any happier with our choice. The rooms are big and clean. The bed was super comfortable. There's a nice desk with good WiFi, a complementary big bottle of water, some cookies, and an espresso machine with a couple pods. We were facing away from La Rambla, so our view was towards the mountains. We still had plenty to see and it was quieter, so no problems there. The shower was great - a rain-down head on top and a hand-sprayer mounted on the wall.

They have a free buffet all day long with pastries, salads, beverages, deserts, and much more. It's almost too good to be true. The only downside is that you can't take it to your room, but I suppose people would stock up and just feed off that for days.

The staff was very friendly. The bellman showed us everything about our room, stowed our luggage while we hit the town before we checked in, and hailed us a cab in the rain when it was time to leave.

This hotel is everything you need - location, comfort, cleanliness, and quiet. And the price was surprisingly reasonable for all of these great things. We've payed WAY more of way less. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Excellent location and quality, first rate staff/service. All the amenities of a big far more expensive hotel

A wonderful 6 night stay!
You will have a difficult time seeing the hotel from the street because the ground floor lobby is very small. It feels more like a boutique hotel but is part of a larger chain.
The rooms are very quiet. We were on the street side on the 4th floor, but never heard anything from the street or other rooms, except one night when a bunch of rowdy young men stayed and woke us up really early. But that wasn't the norm. Mostly a family place. The beds are spectacular quality.
The location is ideal: near the Placa de Catalunya/proximity to Las Ramblas without being right on it (to much noise and bustle for us). The Aerobus from the airport stops on the side of the Placa nearest the hotel. Very easy 1/2 block walk. (Even if the Aerobus line looks long, don't worry - it moves very very fast - much cheaper than a taxi - save your money for tapas and sangria!)
The free snacks each day from 2-11 pm make this hotel ideal place for kids or for us - we preferred to eat only two meals out a day. (The hotel was by no means overrun with children.) The snacks are good quality, with enough variety to find something everyday.
We didn't include the breakfast in our reservations, which cost 14 Euros per person, but we did eat at hotel breakfast twice. If you need to leave the hotel early eating on site is a good option since not many places in that area are open early. You can get good quality ham/jamon on good quality bread at some small shops nearby, but if you want cooked eggs etc. eat at the hotel if you're leaving it before 8. Some restaurants don't open until 10. There are several of the ham sandwich/pastry places across the street, on the business side of Placa d'Urquinaoana - catty corner to your left when you come out of hotel.
For a wonderful breakfast or brunch 10 or later, eat at Alsur. Walk two blocks (you pass Placa d'Urquinoana on your left), turn left on Carrer de Roger de Lluria - one 1/2 blocks.
The staff is very helpful and goes out of their way to assist with directions, etc. Be warned, some speak Spanish, not Catalan. Sometimes the spelling of restaurant names differ in the two languages. This threw us off using Google map one time.

Excellent Stay at Barcelona

We travelled to Barcelona and stayed at Catalonia Square for 6 days in total. The hotel location is excellent, just located beside the Plaça de Catalunya, which is the centre of Barcelona and easily access to all major sightseeing points.
The hotel rooms were tidy, clean and spacious. The staff are nice, helpful and pleasant. The frontline staff helped us to move our luggage to our room, and introduced all the facilities of the hotel/ inside the rooms to us. I would also like to appreciate the reception manager, Roger, for his warm welcome and greetings during our stay.
One minor point we hope the hotel to improve is the flexibility of the check in time. We took 14 hours flight to Barcelona and arrived the hotel at around 10am. At the beginning, a frontline staff said could help us to check whether there is room available since we were so tired. However, a female reception manager came out and talked to him in Spanish for a while, then the staff did not check further and told me that check in time will be around 1pm-2pm. We have to wait at the hotel lobby for few hours. I’m not sure whether there was no room available or the hotel policy is such rigid.
The most attractive point of Hotel Catalonia Square is the free snacks bar available from 2pm to late night everyday. Various kinds of drinks like juices, soft drinks, coffee, tea and smoothie etc. are available. Besides, there are croissants, bread, fruits, salads, hot soups and daily hot dishes as well. We could go to the snacks bar whenever we want and it serves as a very great place for us to take a break. The chef and staff always come out to check whether the food or drinks are sufficient enough.
The breakfast is good with great variety of choice. Will definitely recommend the hotel to our friends.
