We stayed here for two nights and really loved it. The rooms are a bit on the basic side but still very comfortable. The setting is excellent ---great service, wonderful garden courtyard, outstanding breakfast, very good location right on the beach in the middle of avalon.

Best place to stay in Avalon

This was our second stay at Pavilion. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like VIPs by the front desk staff, grounds keepers and wait staff. I would like to give a particular shout out to Lisa at the front desk who helped us with our complimentary bike ride when we were there in January and made excellent restaurant recommendations. I would also like to mention Christopher who waited on us during the complimentary happy hour. Finally, I want to thank Leticia for her friendly greetings and service in the mornings, bringing us croissants and taking away our plates. The courtyard is lush and relaxing. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else when visiting Catalina.

Look no further when staying in Avalon on Catalina Island

First visit to Catalina and I am so glad that we stayed at The Pavilion. Catalina has lots of properties from which to choose and The Pavilion did not disappoint in any aspect. We booked a king superior room which was located on the ground level. All of the rooms open outside to a lovely lanai-like courtyard that lends to a very island feel. Lovely, meticulously manicured landscaping with outdoor tables, fire pit all add to a wonderful ambience to enjoy the relaxed feel of Catalina.

The room was spacious with a dressing area and sink separate from tub/toilet. Very nice in-room coffee service. Room was very clean, well-appointed and had very nice bath products. Bed was exceptionally comfortable.

Upon arriving into Catalina, Pavilion staff are present to greet you and collect your bags, although the walk to the hotel from the pier is perhaps 5 minutes. The lobby of the hotel is quaint and very nice. I can’t say enough about the wonderful professionalism each and every member of the hotel staff demonstrated. The service was reminiscent of stays at many 5-star properties.

The evening wine and cheese reception is not to be missed. Complimentary red and white wines, along with an assortment of nice cheeses, are available from 430-530 each evening. What a wonderful, relaxing time spent around sunset.

The complimentary breakfast provided is superb with a full assortment of pastries and baked goods, along with a made-to-order omelette station. An assortment of breakfast meats, coffee, and juices were also available. Very high quality for a complimentary breakfast and wonderful value.

The location of the Pavilion is impeccable and, in my opinion, quite hard to beat. After strolling through Avalon and seeing locations of other hotels, I think you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better location that offers such a lovely property.

You may find that the town of Avalon has a very old-world, almost European feel. Along with that, most of the residences and hotel buildings are old as well. The Pavilion does have the look and feel of an “old motel” genre property. But, wow... the Pavilion does not disappoint whatsoever. The management has done an incredible job of maintaining this property and creating an almost luxury experience while staying here.

I consider myself to be a very discerning traveler and have high expectations whenever choosing hotels. I give this property 5 stars across the board! Well-done, Pavilion! Very well-done indeed.
