All-villa suite beachfront resort on St. Lucia with three pools, two restaurants and a spa
The Landings comprises 21 terra-cotta-roofed buildings, all dotted around the resort’s private, luminous marina or fronting the 800 feet of sugar-sand beach. The four-story, dome-topped, open-air lobby features checkered sand and toffee marble flooring, a baby grand piano and a dramatic, grand staircase.
Bed and Bath
The 85 breezy villa suites are spacious and swanky (starting at 950 square feet), and they’re decked out in a cream, pink and rose color schemes, with four-poster beds, full gourmet kitchens (which can be stocked before arrival) with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops and Tuscan-inspired mosaics. Each villa suite features two oversize terraces or patios for taking in the stunning sea or marina views. The lavish bathrooms pamper guests with hydrotherapy tubs, separate glass-enclosed showers, and Green Park toiletries scented in neroli and cedar.
Days here are centered on sunbathing next to one of the three pools or on the beach, or enjoying an herbal coconut oil–infused massage at the 7,000-square-foot spa. For active types, tennis (pros can be called in for an additional fee) and free non-motorized water sports (snorkeling, kayaking, etc.) are all on offer. Sidle up to the new Turquoise Bar for classic cocktails, and when hunger strikes, head to the Palms, which pushes the definition of Caribbean fare in delicious new directions (think cinnamon smoked mahi mahi with piton beer barbecue sauce or jerk lobster seared and served with mild coconut sauce). Rather dine with a view? The alfresco Beach Club restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and for a taste of St. Lucian cuisine, try the new Callaloo eatery.
In the Area
Take to St. Lucia’s waters on a dolphin-watching cruise (lunch can be included for an additional fee) or book the all-day Soufrière Extravaganza, which is a catamaran sailing during which you can take in the island’s best sights, including the Pitons, the waterfalls and the Caribbean’s only drive-in volcano. Back on land, explore trails cut through the tropical rain forest, which covers a large stretch of the southern half of the island. The scenic one-mile Barre de l’Isle Trail has four lookout points where the Atlantic and the Caribbean meet; it's ideal for a family excursion. Or take on one of the two pyramid-shaped Pitons, St. Lucia’s most famous peaks. The challenging four-mile trek up 2,619-foot Gros Piton (the higher of the two) can be made only with a qualified guide. An early morning start is essential, since the trip can take anywhere from three to six hours.
