nice week in Pestana Porto Santo
Reviewed 1 day ago

We previously visited other Pestana hotels in Portugal and were very happy with our stay, so we booked Pestana again.
Hotel was really nice, we had a see view room without paying extra, it was close to the beach which was lovely. Very nice swimming pool and gardens/surroundings.
Food was OK, not exceptional however pretty big variate to choose from. Nice selection of all inclusive drinks, really nice cocktails. However theme restaurants were only open one or two days in the week and it was difficult to get a booking for the time it suited us - pretty strange considering it was just opening of the season... My biggest issue was all coffee cups for espresso, cappuccino etc. in all bar areas have been replaced with plastic cups in the middle of our stay. I am a coffee lover and I really didn't enjoy my espresso from plastic anymore, really disappointing and not what you expect from 5* hotel.
Staff friendly and overall our stay was really pleasant.

Definitely not a 5* ‘premium’

I write this review from our hotel room....given my previous reviews on any other hotels you will see I am not a negative reviewer or a moaner. We have stayed at a range of hotels so I like to think I know a 5 star when I stay in one.
We are here with 2 children age 2 and 6 months. Given the weather is wet and cold so it just exaggerates the hotels flaws. Speaking to other guests we seem to feel the same way as them.

The rooms are clean however our family room is crammed. There is a Small kitchenette with a microwave and a fridge. No kettle or drinks facilities. There is hardly any wardrobe space for a family room we have one wardrobe with 2 drawers inside it. There is no light on the balcony to sit outside in the evening. There is room service however the room service charges at 45 euros this is before you even order a drink. For a premium 5* hotel this seems stingy.

The outdoor pools are freezing. To the point they are empty all day and the indoor pool is at the sister hotel next door.

The restaurant is busy, this is in May at the start of season when the hotel is quiet. There are queues for each of the hour opening time windows, I wouldn’t like to be here at the height of summer. The staff are great, hard working and pleasant however again for a 5* all inclusive the food isn’t great. Not bad for us who rush through our courses as we have young children however if I was here alone with my husband I would be very disappointed.

Pluses, the pool and pool area is clean, the rooms are clean, the beach is beautiful, the island is lovely and unspoilt.
I don’t feel this is a family hotel and definitely would not return here. However as previously mentioned cannot fault the staff.

Island paradise

The welcome you receive when arriving at this resort is truly heartwarming. They genuinely care about making your stay all that you expect and more.
The animation team are superbly talented, each I their own way, and give you beaming smiles to keep spirits high even the sun won't shine.
The food caters to all tastes and you won't go hungry.
More importantly, if you have any concerns, management are happy to address them and are eager for feedback.

Excellent holiday

Absolutely love the holidays in Porto Santo ... it's just like a piece of paradise and all the staff now feel like family. We actually slept in the premium club hotel but visited this one often. There are plenty of pools to choose from and plenty sunbeds. The snack bar outside was lovely but I tended to eat in the premium club as it wasn't so busy down there. All the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Only downside to this holiday was the weather as it was quite cold and i was having issues with my health so didn't get to the beach. But if you can I highly recommend it as a beautiful beach that is 9km long. If you come out and turn right and follow the beach it takes you to the coves with a lovely little cafe there. If you turn left and walk down the beach it will take you to the town with some lovely shops. There's a beautiful square with a really pretty church. I honestly love this place so much ... it really is a jewel and can't recommend it highly enough and the manager Angela Quintal does an awesome job of managing both hotels. So if you want a holiday that you will remember fondly for years to come ... pestana porto santo & pestana porto santo premium club are the place to go xxxxx
