How to Get There
The hotel is located in La Boquilla, a 10 min taxi ride away from the historical walled city of Cartagena, where all the action is.
The small grey beach in front of the hotel is crowded but not really appealing but for the true Caribbean experience one can go for a day trip to the Islas del Rosario.
The hotel is clean with good service, decent facilities and an abundant breakfast buffet.
There is however is serious flaw in the way the hotel is run and it concerns security. Gangs of thieves operate freely in the bar and pool area of the hotel preying mostly on foreigners. A gang of three as recorded by security cameras stole my wife’s camera bag in the pool area with an elaborate scheme after she was probably observed in the lobby area where she was transferring images from the camera and later packing it in the bag.
It’s definitely not the best time to be in Cartagena, (first week of January), but we were invited to a wedding, hotel is very nice, check in was fast and easy. Bar next to the lobby is a really nice place to have some drinks. Swimming pool was too crowded, and it doesn’t get too much sun. Restaurant was good too, breakfast was tasty. For lunch I had sanchocho cartagenero which was very good, and it was enough for two people, I couldn't finish it. At the 10th floor there were 3 "hot tubs" you get a nice view and a lot of sun, I want thank Diomedes Escalante who was always very helpful, and he was alone at the 10th floor bar attending everyone. Rooms are very nice, they have a great view, alltough ours didn’t have a balcony, there was a problem with the shower head which was solved in minutes. I didn’t like the beach, there’re too many vendors so you need to be careful.
Had an amazing stay over Holidays 2018. Service level is outstanding, location is somewhat remote but good sitting on the beach, the rooftop pool area brilliant. City hotels and beaches too crowded and noisy so in comparison much better staying in the tranquility here and take a taxi to the action downtown. The hotel caters to many families at this time of year, but is large enough for all kind of travelers finding their own space to enjoy
My husband and I had a great time. The restaurant at hotel could have a better variety. Pool needs to have more sun. There was a shuttle to the old city which was great. I think more tourism options and Staff that speaks English would be helpful But overall a great experience.
My husband and I recently visited Colombia, and stayed in Cartagena at the end of our trip. We had the pleasure of staying at the Radisson Ocean Pavillion Hotel. Then hotel was great! It was a short ride from the airport and close to all the places we wanted to visit, like the walled city and other tourist attractions. The hotel was clean, the room was great with an ocean view, and the food and staff were wonderful. The pool was great and there were always activities going on. The bartender by the pool was fabulous and made the best mojitos! In the morning we had the pleasure of being served by Greis Castillo. She was amazing and always had a huge smile. She not only served us, but was very helpful as well. She answered our questions and went above and beyond. We had a great stay at the hotel.
