How to Get There
Isolated location but with all amenities. Beachfront cottages had four units steps away from a private beach. Each unit had a full kitchen, living room, bedroom and fully screened in porch. Went on great trip snorkeling at Buck Island Underwater National Park (to be reviewed)
After Hurricane Maria and Irma visited the USVI St Croix, this hotel suffered devastation. The hotel quickly began to rebuild and get rooms back on line allowing first responders to stay. The hotel may not be at 100% as recovery can take a while. I was so grateful to be able to stay at this location for nearly 2 months. The staff are excellent, they really care, they make sure all your needs are meet and I SO appreciate this. Being away from home and not having the comfort of family and friends, it was nice to have people around me that really cared about my well being. Thank you for making sure my clothes were washed, my bill was correct, I received my mail, my room met my needs and especially for making sure I had eaten. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
Trying to get work done wasn't hard either, excellent internet and this was free. Great breakfast, this was free and dinner every night a nominal fee. Drinks in the evening were only $5 and when needed the staff would drive you to your room in the golf carts.
Wonderful experience in the midst of devastation.
We stayed here for our honeymoon in Mar-Apr 2016 and everything about this hotel exceeded our expectations. We had a room facing the ocean and we enjoyed waking up every morning to enjoy a cup of coffee on the screened in patio. The room was very spacious and clean. The grounds of the resort were immaculate and made you feel like you were in the rainforest while also on the beach. We felt as if we could relax and escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Pictures of the view from the beach don't do justice - the water is bluer and the hills are bigger and greener. The waves were fun, my husband and I rented a boogey board one day and rode the waves. The breakfast buffet was a little pricey but the food was great, the bar food was pretty reasonable and was pretty good as well, the only complaint was that for the cost of the dinner food it didn't live up to our expectations. The resort has access to the trail to the tide pools which is by far our favorite thing we did in St. Croix. We hiked the trail to the tide pools self guided which was moderate-difficult in parts and we are fit. The end result was worth it...we ended up having the tide pools to ourselves for a little bit which was so nice to enjoy uninhabited nature. The resort is a drive from most things ~30-40 minutes to Christenstead or Frederikstead but there were a few places on the way that are a must to stop at. We new about the drive before booking the hotel and it was the main reason we picked this resort because we wanted total relaxation and to experience the island as a whole. Closer food/bar recommendations are Rowdy Joes and The Waves which were our two favorite restaurants. Nothing like local bar at Rowdy Joes that also had great food and nothing like picking out and holding the lobster you are going to eat for the evening at The Waves. Can't wait to return.
I realize they’re not back up and running yet, but writing this review for our trip in July 2017. Giving this an average rating because the guest rooms are in need of some work and updating and we had a number of issues getting into a room that was fully functional. We absolutely loved the property, beach and location but the accommodations need work and better management. The property was hit hard during the hurricane so hopefully they will be able to address a number of the room issues in the rebuild.
First impression was amazing and we were so pleased. However, our trip got off to a rough start once we arrived at our room. We had booked three rooms and had to change rooms numerous times due to bad climate control and other issues. The AC was weak and couldn’t keep up. We were there during warm season and upstairs rooms barely got cool. We finally found a room that we could tolerate. In our first room, housekeeping had apparently left fridge open and freezer defrosted and floor was soaked when we checked in. Maintenance came and checked it out to be sure and resolved the issue. Lighting in the rooms is poor.
Despite the room issues there are many positives about this property that we enjoyed. If they can get the room issues ironed out I highly recommend this property. We truly did have a blast on our stay. The staff was very responsive and helped to resolve all issues. The views from guest rooms are amazing (although if you have to keep shutters closed etc to keep room cool it’s hard to enjoy). The screened in patios with bench seating were one of my favorite features. A great place to sip coffee and read in the morning and listen to the waves crashing. The beach is great and great snorkeling right off property. They also have a dive shop on property for those who want to scuba dive or try scuba for the first time. The property is large and spread out so be prepared to walk (enjoy the property on foot) but you can call for a cart to pick you up. The property is secluded but very easy to get town and local restaurants.
We were planning to stop here but were told only FEMA workers allowed on site right now. They took quite a hit with Maria. Looks like a lovely place and when they rebuild will be nice!!
Located past The Deep End on the North Shore.
