I arrived and was taken to a room towards the edge of the property, Which look nothing like what I prepaid for. Everything was just bush and trees, no ocean, no Pitons, there was issues with the hot water system which drained water day and night so I literally had a feeling it was raining. There was no hot water for two days, so imagine taking a cold shower outside. Restaurant, house keeping and pool staff are the best, very warm, friendly and hospitable. Reception and management staff needs more training, to arrogant. Towards the end of my stay a team was sent to clear the tree and bush around my room, imagine trying to relax in the hacking and falling of trees. I had no choice but to stay in this uncomfortable miserable situation. Worst vacation spot ever! I did however got to enjoy the view at breakfast.

A secluded resort that is as amazing as the views!

We stayed in the Hibiscus Villa and hardly left during our stay. Incredibly private with an astounding view, nice pool, and comfortable room -we loved the hammock too. The staff at Stonefield is one of the nicest and most accommodating that I have come across in my world travels. When we did leave our villa, they helped us book some of the best experiences. Everyone we met on St. Lucia was welcoming and had an interesting story. We will definitely return and stay at Stonefield.

Over many years we have traveled six continents for both business and pleasure. NEVER have we experienced the level of service and attention given so willingly and graciously as recently experienced at Stonefield. This together with the incredible location (literally next to Petit Piton) and the ingeniously designed villas which offer complete privacy made our experience truly astounding.

Our villa was a "one bedroom ocean view" -- spacious with an air conditioned bedroom, adjoining sitting room and kitchenette fronted by a large deck nest to our private pool. The villa offered an incredible "cliffside" view of the 2,500 foot hillside of Petit Piton (we felt like we could reach out and touch it) and the Caribbean Ocean.

Check out the Stonefield website... the pictures do not lie! What you see in those photos is actually what you get!

The seven or eight minute free shuttle ride to Sugar Beach almost makes Stonefield an ocean front resort with mountain views. The beach is beautiful and the beach-side restaurant is a great destination whether you get into the water or not.

We checked out a couple restaurants in Soufriere and other resorts but The Mango Tree restaurant at Stonefield provided the best food and service. An excellent breakfast is included making the view of the ocean and mountains from this open air restaurant a wonderful way to start each day.

Finally, we must give a special thanks to the concierge staff (especially Vinel) and manager Paul who assisted us so ably... as did the staff of The Mango Tree. Frankly, each and every staff member we met deserves to be recognized!

We booked a garden view room through Travelocity. The room we received was not nearly as nice as the one pictured.

My research on TripAdvisor and the Stonefield website revealed there were 2 villas listed as garden view — the Orchid and the Chalon. The Orchid is the room pictured on Travelocity. We received the Chalon. It seems everyone on TripAdvisor who had the Chalon in the past really complained about it.

My main complaint was that there was not a lot of comfortable places in this room. Bed was OK, pillows hard as a rock! The sitting room has 3 wood/rattan chairs and the kitchen had a standard kitchen table. I’ll upload pictures of the room as I think that will be helpful. No hammock.

The kitchen was handy and we used it quite a bit. We enjoyed our private pool. The breakfast included was very good. The view from the restaurant and main patio was amazing.

I’d recommend skipping Sugar Beach. The security staff there make you feel very unwelcome.

We walked to Martha’s Tables for lunch and that was delicious. The walk there was very hilly though!!

Note on Sunday they played very loud dance music from about noon until 5:30 PM. It was so loud it definitely interfered with our peace and tranquility.

We paid $300 a night for this room, which I felt was too much for what we received. Perhaps if we had the Orchid room we would have felt different.

Gorgeous location

While there are several beautiful, high quality resorts in the area, what is unique about Stonefield is that the villas are a bit scattered across the site, rather than in a row right next to each other - and there's AC in the bedrooms! The positioning of the villas really helps you feel secluded in nature, and the views are truly unbelievable. The ladies working at the front desk are incredibly helpful and nice, and every day that we had the villa cleaned it was left spotless. I really appreciate the shuttle down to Sugar Beach (you can also request to stop at the secluded Malgretoute - enjoy it before another resort is built!). The staff at the beach were friendly even though we didn't pay for chairs. We brought beach towels and plopped down in the middle of the beach (don't feel like you have to sit crammed into the non-guest area, as the beach is public). I would recommend eating at Jade Mountain and enjoying their view, but personally I prefer being close to the pitons. We also really enjoyed lunch at Boucan (Hotel Chocolat).

Though I find it hard to rate Stonefield anything other than 5 stars, I do have a few suggestions for the owner/management; the biggest complaint being that there seemed to be zero management of who enters the property. There were quite a lot of kids running around for a supposedly adults-only property- one woman with a child was either a guest or working at the resort, as she was nearly always at the restaurant/bar/pool area, and usually with her young child (who was not well behaved and ran unsupervised screaming around the pool). Staff also let non-guests use the main pool, which I did not think was allowed. One day a loud group of Europeans in thong bikinis scared off paying guests. Finally, an older couple came to the resort for dinner one night and clearly were not told where to go to find the restaurant. I don't know how they got so mixed up, but they actually entered our villa. Opened the door to the deck area, kept right on going, and came into our room!! My husband and I stood there with dumbfounded expressions, and they said "oh, this isn't the restaurant!". Less important suggestions would be to change up the restaurant menu every once in a while, have a solar heated option for the pools, and to better keep track of which villas need a little maintenance (for example, our shower area really needed a good power washing, bathroom needed a new toilet, and there were some nails sticking up from the deck floor that I stepped on).

All in all, Stonefield is a wonderful resort and I will definitely return, hopefully next year. We love the Soufriere area and its natural beauty!
