How to Get There
The hotel grows on you - arrival is well organised after an hours drive from vieux fort. Good welcome and cocktail and professional guide to rooms and the site
Whilst we were in early hurricane season the rain and wind didn’t last long nor spoil the experiences
The beach is lovely and regularly tended to keep it so. The sea largely clear and thus makes for good swimming and great place to learn diving and snorkelling. The instructors are fun and good at their jobs, the better diving up or down the coast but a good dive boat to get you there. Lots of other waters sports too. Beach service best we’ve known especially from Brandon- your cocktails are there before you ask!
The rooms good, those nearer the main hotel due an upgrade next year but not too tired- the beach front cottages lovely - all with great views to Wake up to and sunsets to start the evening with.
Main terrace restaurant does good buffet style breakfast (fabulous and characterful cook!) and lunch; alternating buffet and a la carte for dinner. Professional and friendly staff, especially Runford as wine waiter and Carmen for us.
The Trysting Place is more up market and although no view is air conditioned. The Malabar Beach Restuarant on the beach gives a higher quality food and beach experience.
With lots of activities and nightly champagne tastings (lead by the irrepressible Sean And Cato) plus entertainment all thrown in it makes for a great and relaxing stay.
Whilst there are other newer and perhaps swankier hotels on St Lucia this one is a great find and no wonder so many keep coming back to it!
Arrived 12th June and met by Hotel staff who looked after the suitcases whilst we were taken to the Terrace by the sea. Given warm flannel to cool off and a soft drink. Nice start.
Room (306) was nice size, very comfortable king sized bed and plenty soaps, shampoos tea/coffee water etc. Mini fridge with water provided. Bathroom OK size ,shower a wee bit dated but fine. Rooms are sprayed morning and night to keep the pesky mozzies away but inevitably you will get a bite or two so bring repellent or buy it at the on-site shop.
Balcony overlooking hotel grounds / pool ,nice to sit of an evening before going to dinner or just before bed.
Hotel facilities first class, with lots of activities for the energetic and less energetic. Loads of sunbeds by pools or beach (take your pick) and towels provided. The pool bar service provided by Glenn and Guildford was outstanding.
Food/Service (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner) was excellent although my one complaint (minor) was the on the nights when it wasn't a buffet service on the Terrace restaurant it was A La Carte which IMO was limited in choice. However the food and service provided in the dedicated A La Carte restaurant The Trysting Place was fantastic. You could use that restaurant every night if you so wished (had to be booked in advance).
All in all this was the best hotel I have stayed at and the staff are a credit to the Hotel.
Wow what can I say, the most amazing relaxing hotel. ALL staff were truly amazing, it would be difficult to mention one in particular. Yashmine the General Manager has nailed this place, she actually stops and speak with her guests and her staff. Absolutely everything about this hotel is Top Notch. Will definitely be back - converted from the Body Holiday.
We have just recently returned from an amazing 2 weeks at this wonderful hotel, this trip was to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary.
I can't speak highly enough of the staff, food, our seaside suite which was beautiful, the beach which during our stay was spotless, no plastic washing up on the shore or seaweed on the sand. The wonderful bar staff made sure we never wanted for a drink.
Denson the 'main man' on the beach looked after us so well, he is an absolute star and made us laugh every single day. We had ice pops, fresh fruit, crudités and cold flannels, felt very spoilt.
Malabar restaurant was wonderful both at lunch and in the evening (evening you need to book for, but we never had a problem with this) is was great to sit with our feet in the sand and listen to the sea whilst enjoying a glass of prosecco and great food.
Main restaurant, sometimes buffet, sometimes not, the choice of food was always plentiful and never a disappointment. The lovely ladies that served and showed you to the table are so kind and helpful, nothing is too much trouble, special thanks to Frances and Dianne. There was also a BBQ at lunchtime one day, the fish was out of this world.
Trysting place, food and service was good but did feel like I was in my grandma's house to be honest, felt an update of the decor was needed, but my husband said the steak was amazing.
Wifi was a bit weak in the public areas but in the room it worked fine.
My husband said the gym was more than adequate and the changing rooms and shower that you can use on the day you leave were stocked with all the essentials, shampoo, towels etc, you have to leave a $20 deposit for the key at reception but it helped us no end as we felt the $105 to keep the room which in our case was for just 4 hours was a little over the top.
If you want branded drinks just ask when you order, I had Smirnoff not the cheaper version, just need to remember to say you want it.
We thought the entertainment was spot on, I loved the saxophonist on the beach at sunset, he was so good and really set the mood just right.
I thought the turndown service at night was a lovely, candles and classical music, very romantic.
There is an area for you to help yourselves to tea, coffee and snacks 24 hours a day, it was lovely to sit in the morning with a cuppa looking out to sea.
Please take plenty of bug spray, we got bitten by mosquito's, sand fleas and ants even, my husband never normally suffers but he was covered in them for the first few days until he sprayed all the time. Spray your room too, the hotel did spray at 'turndown' but this wasn't enough so sprayed the bed afternoon and evening and that seemed to do the trick. If you do get bitten go and see the guy who sells wooden items some evenings on the terrace we got some oil off him that took the itch away immediately, he's a really nice chap and very helpful.
The weather sadly the first week especially was very disappointing, rained a lot, one day the whole day, the second week was better but still rain almost every morning at least.
Just thought I would mention in case anyone is planning on buying cigarettes from duty free at the airport on the way home, when we looked on Friday they only had two brands neither of which we had heard of so left without any, very frustrating.
All in all a fabulous holiday, big thank you to all the staff for making it such a fabulous celebration for us, cannot recommend this hotel enough, it cost a lot more than we would normally pay but it was worth every penny.
There is nothing more this resort could have done to make our holiday any better!the staff are the best! Very friendly and welcoming. A special thanks to, Chris for teaching us water sports. Randy for such a fun time on the catamaran, and looking after us on the street party. And Denson, always so happy serving us drinks on the beach. And Sean, in the champagne bar putting up with us all hours. You all made our trip so much better for being the most truly genuine, fun , amazing people. We would normally always visit different places, but we would definitely come back to this place one day.
We loved it!!!
