Romance abounds at Secret Bay, a secluded lair worthy of a James Bond villain and surrounded by the wild natural beauty of Dominica, a delightfully under-developed Caribbean escape. Villas and bungalows, crafted in Caribbean woods, fuse high style with an eco-friendly sensibility, and guests can avail themselves of a number of additional activities, from private yoga classes to nature walks and boat trips. Those in search of luxe details will find them in the hotel’s meditation decks, temperature controlled wine cellar, concierge services, and private driver available on request.
In the Area
Dominica is known for its dramatic topography, which boasts mountainous terrain, wild waterfalls, hot springs and volcanoes, and well-protected national parks perfect for nature lovers. Adventurous types can hike the Waitukubuli National Trail, visit the Kalinago tribes of the island’s Kalinago Territory, or scuba dive and whale watch with Dive Dominica. Secret Bay can also facilitate passes to the national parks, massages, and unique experiences like a class on local medicinal herbs.
How to Get There
Secret Bay is back. And I contend that this should be no secret. If you ever have the slightest opportunity to experience this chunk of paradise you should do all in your power to make it happen.
What an incredible job after almost total devastation only one year ago by hurricane Maria. What an amazing feat to have this gem ready for November 1 just 7 months after construction began. And what an amazing team of people to be able to pull it off and make it even better than before.
As always, the family of people involved in every aspect of Secret Bay are proud to show that their hearts and souls are completed invested in this magnificent place, and along with the property, they infect everyone that has the fortune to enter with a feeling of total bliss, peace, love and happiness that you feel nowhere else.
The addition of the Zing Zing restaurant is just the icing on the cake that completes what Secret Bay is. From the magnificent views from the deck to the outstanding dishes created by the very gifted chef, Grant, who tops it all off with an incredible personality and sense of humour that makes you feel as though your at a family home for dinner.
Also new to Secret Bay is the spa and wellness (yoga) centre with similar incredible views. Where else can one experience ultimate relaxation while listening to the captivating sounds of the surrounding "jungle" and the waves gently washing the rocks on the beach.
The villas as usual are fitted with every creature comfort one can think of and also share spectacular views of incredible Dominica.
In short, it's a tropical paradise like no other, and I long to once again experience the nature that surrounds you with unbelievable sounds, smells and sights. Most of all, the family that looks after you when you're there is what makes this place so very special.
Soon back at its pristine best this couture resort is unlike anything I've seen where man and nature are one despite the destruction of the facility by category 5 hurricane Maria in September 2017. With its own private beach and awesome view over Rodney Bay and Fort Shirley in the Cabrits Peninsular, Secret Bay is amidst it all between nature at its Columbus self and all modern new day conveniences.
I stayed at Secret Bay August of 2017 for my birthday and I could not have picked a better place! After a long flight we were greeted so pleasently by the staff at Secret bay who took us to our cabin where dinner was waiting for us. Each tree-house like cabin has a staff member assigned to it who takes care of the cleaning and makes sure you get all of your meals. The food was delicious and all prepared on site. We were able to go by the kitchen and chat with the staff meet the chef, get a smoothie or snack and even learn about the dishes they prepare. The views and grounds were amazing and the hotel even has access to an actual secret beach accessible by kayak right around the bay. Lenita in the office will sit down with you and make your entire trip itinerary so that you can see the rest of the beautiful island. The trips Secret Bay plans also come with a driver who was more like an old friend and tour guide. I would definitely go back to Secret bay and highly recommend especially for honeymooners.
We stayed at Secret Bay in July 2017. The resort is beautiful- secluded, peaceful and truly the perfect tropical get away. We were met at the airport with snacks and water for the drive, and the hospitality continued from there. We were looked after every day by the villa staff. Lenita planned us a perfect itinerary so we could explore the island in the short time we had- there is so much to see and do before relaxing in the cabin. We spent time exploring the island with our own tour guide, and exploring the private beach by kayak.
The cabins are fully equipped with everything you could need for a secluded and very romantic break. The food is delicious- all cooked on site by the chef and well worth it. Lots of fruity sauces and gorgeous fish dishes.
We got engaged during our stay and the staff were wonderful- they set us up for a meal on the sun set deck as the sun set over the ocean. The whole area was set romantically with such care and effort.
It’s a cliché but we truly had the time of our lives at Secret Bay and hope to one day return. We can’t thank the staff enough for their generosity and effort in making the perfect stay. I could not ever do the resort justice in words- it has to be seen and experienced. I couldn’t recommend Secret Bay highly enough.
I stayed at Secret Bay back in March on a last-minute adventure. Because we arrived on a whim with no itinerary, we were especially reliant on the staff at Secret Bay for planning. Of course, the accommodations are unparalleled and we could have stayed put happily for the entire stay. Life is for adventuring though, and so out we went. Scuba diving, hiking to a boiling lake (hard but highly recommended), and other various excursions around Dominica - these were all planned and organized by the fantastic staff at Secret Bay, we just had to tell them what we liked. I would stay with these people again in a heartbeat.
