Fort Young Hotel is conveniently located – and ranked number-one on TripAdvisor – in Roseau, Dominica’s largest town, offering the perfect balance of city life and proximity to the island’s natural wonders.
Speaking of those natural wonders, you’ll have a pretty view of at least one of them, since each room at this TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner boasts a balcony or terrace with views out over the sparkling sea. This striking property, housed in a historic fort, also features another way to get up close and personal with the Dominica’s tropical treasures: its daily excursions, including diving, snorkeling, whale-watching and hiking. And if you’re feeling daring, you can even create your own adventure with the help of a Fort Young concierge.
Each of the hotel’s 73 rooms features a warm, neutral palette. Your oceanfront abode will feature either one king-sized or two double beds and be equipped with a marble bathroom, a balcony and large windows that look out onto the crashing waves.
Fort Young Hotel houses three convenient eateries. Palisades Restaurant fuses international classics with the flavors of Dominica. Warner’s Bar offers elegant cocktails and their signature rum punch alongside any item from the Palisades menu, while Bala’s Bar is a casual café perfect for quick bites. The hotel also offers room service, so any of the food can be enjoyed from the comfort of your picturesque balcony or terrace.
Zemi Spa offers a revitalizing treatment menu designed to invigorate the body and spirit. Visit the spa for manicures, pedicures and a range of massages, or select a mobile massage and a masseuse will come to you for a relaxing in-room session.
Vibrant colors and verdant forests dominate the island of Dominica, a Caribbean destination noted for its rich wildlife and outdoor adventures. The hotel’s prime location offers the ideal base to enjoy Roseau, Dominica’s largest city, as well as rainforests and beaches throughout the island. Local activities include fishing, hiking, world-class snorkeling and diving, and there are plenty of opportunities for watching wildlife like whales, birds and sea turtles.
How to Get There
Hotel is well placed in the centre, pool and sundeck are well presented and make up for the lack of a beach, room are a good size although are pricey, restaurant was better in the evening but breakfast service needs to be speedier and more consistent with the standard expected with the cost/star rating.
fab place to stay despite the repair work still been under takenfab staff and facilitiesFood beautifully prepared and served, despite the main restaurant not being openedRooms was clean and well maintainedthey are however still completing repair to the property from 2017 hurricane Maria so are not fully functioning.
The Fort Young has done a fantastic job rebuilding after the hurricane. The are even better then before. The staff is great, that has been the greatest improvement. If your in Dominica, there's only one place worth staring, the Fort Young.
The Fort Young Hotel must have been a lovely place before Hurricane Maria in Sept 2017. It looks like the top half of the hotel was ripped away, as reconstruction is still ongoing. Only one restaurant area is open, the food is OK but limited and the business centre and gym are still closed. Staff enthusiasm for work varied dramatically. The Front Desk was helpful at times, but not proactive. If you are laid back and don't mind paying a lot for a half-opened hotel, then enjoy the view.
I just recently had a business trip and stay here overnight. I was very impressed with the over all look of the hotel it was rustic but nice and the overall look was not touristy. My room was VERY large and had a beautiful ocean view cabin. The hotel is located directly next to the cruise terminal. Hotel had just about all the amenities I would enjoy. The food was good, mostly was buffet style. In the evening, they had a band with a vocalist who sounded wonderful. It was an overall excellent stay, enjoyable time all for an overnight stay, I enjoyed it tremendously. I will definitely stay here should I return to Dominica again.
