Discover the vibrant culture and verdant landscape of Dominica, a Caribbean island steeped in romance and adventure. Known as the “Nature Island,” it encompasses the lush rainforests and abundant wildlife that are synonymous with paradise. Fort Young Hotel is conveniently located – and ranked number-one on TripAdvisor – in Roseau, Dominica’s largest town, offering the perfect balance of city life and proximity to the island’s natural wonders.
Speaking of those natural wonders, you’ll have a pretty view of at least one of them, since each room at this TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner boasts a balcony or terrace with views out over the sparkling sea. This striking property, housed in a historic fort, also features another way to get up close and personal with the Dominica’s tropical treasures: its daily excursions, including diving, snorkeling, whale-watching and hiking. And if you’re feeling daring, you can even create your own adventure with the help of a Fort Young concierge.
Each of the hotel’s 73 rooms features a warm, neutral palette. Your oceanfront abode will feature either one king-sized or two double beds and be equipped with a marble bathroom, a balcony and large windows that look out onto the crashing waves.
Fort Young Hotel houses three convenient eateries. Palisades Restaurant fuses international classics with the flavors of Dominica. Warner’s Bar offers elegant cocktails and their signature rum punch alongside any item from the Palisades menu, while Bala’s Bar is a casual café perfect for quick bites. The hotel also offers room service, so any of the food can be enjoyed from the comfort of your picturesque balcony or terrace.
Zemi Spa offers a revitalizing treatment menu designed to invigorate the body and spirit. Visit the spa for manicures, pedicures and a range of massages, or select a mobile massage and a masseuse will come to you for a relaxing in-room session.
Vibrant colors and verdant forests dominate the island of Dominica, a Caribbean destination noted for its rich wildlife and outdoor adventures. The hotel’s prime location offers the ideal base to enjoy Roseau, Dominica’s largest city, as well as rainforests and beaches throughout the island. Local activities include fishing, hiking, world-class snorkeling and diving, and there are plenty of opportunities for watching wildlife like whales, birds and sea turtles.
How to Get There
Many new hotels opening in area, they will make this property obsolete, room not cleaned properly, phone out for 3 days, food selection is very limited, out of half the items. General manager not customer oriented.
The hotel continues to give value for money, even as it recovers from the recent hurricane. It is the quintessential hospitality space in Dominica providing a classic Caribbean experience with a definitive Dominican style. Its the kind of place where you cannot help but give a sigh of satisfaction every now and then during your stay!
Just a casual pool night with the girls, while on vacation. The servers were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing. The view was astounding on the ocean side. The noise form rebuilding was not a bother during the night.
Hurricane Maria swept through Dominica only 14 months earlier, decimating much of the island, including all the main hotels in Roseau. Fort Young have done a great job of rebuilding. Our room was big and spacious looking out over the sea. The new dining room had only been open a few weeks, but is in a great location. Food was generally OK, but one has to recognise the limitations on obtaining good raw materials. We were with a group and sometimes the choices were limited. For example mixed salad followed by Indian vegetables. Rather more choice would be expected for a hotel of this calibre.
Fort Young has a bit of a monopoly on the hotel market in Roseau but for good reason. We were initially hesitant about spending more per night than on other nearby islands (we visited 8) but this was the best hotel we stayed in and worth the money. The rooms were absolutely lovely (oceanfront view) and the hotel is in a fantastic location. There is an Infinity pool overlooking the water with a jacuzzi at the edge of the balcony. Food was excellent: the breakfast buffet varied each day and dinner was very nice. Both breakfast and dinner had plenty of choices. The only thing which lets this hotel down slightly can be the service at times - however it didn't ruin our wonderful stay.
