How to Get There
This hotel is located in rather busy area. If you come by car, be prepared to park outside of the hotel's parking lot (even though, hotel advertises as having "free parking", there are only handful spots available).
Rooms - great. All updated. Though, don't expect any views of the ocean.
Beach near hotel is not the best (mostly stones) and you need to go around another hotel to get to it. Since, we had a car, we drove to Salines beach, which was 100% better than this one.
The pictures on the website make it look like a 5 star hotel. It is barely a 4 star. It is a nice hotel, in a good location. The beds are comfortable. The bathroom is very basic. Compact florescent light bulbs in the rooms make it dark. Pool is nice. Staff is very nice. Restaurant is expensive, but the food is good. Probably would not go back. We were disappointed after booking based on the website.
I had a great visit here. It was centrally located in the best spot. Shopping and dining right outside your door and a quick walk to the beaches. And a fun and pleasing pool/pool bar. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, friendly staff. Not sure how the dining experience is because we really didn’t eat much at hotel.
Close to restaurants, bakery and shopping. Lovely grounds, clean room, friendly staff. Wife and I are very particular about where we stay and we would definitely stay here again. L'Annexe across the street for informal outdoor dining was good. Stayed here for a few nights then a few nights on the south side of the island,
We were booked at this hotel for 4 nights to start our honeymoon trip ..... due to flight delays we arrived one day later (we notified the hotel through the provided email) however the hotel cancelled our reservation AND did NOT attempt to call or contact us (they later confirmed they are supposed to).
The hotel was full and they did not have a room for the first night. The staff at reception were not understanding or supportive. They didn't want to take any responsibility when we arrived and kept contradicting us, despite showing them our reservation confirmation. They kept repeating that we were not booked and they cannot do anything about it! There was not a manager on duty (it was around 7.30pm) and they would not contact anyone. I am french native so this was not a communication problem. Their English was very bad.
After sustained confrontation they reserved a room for one night at a nearby hotel. This rate was 100 euro higher and at this time they would not confirm if the difference would be refunded. We were left to negotiate the rate ourselves, thank you to hotel Carayou for understanding.
My husband and I had to fight to get the situation in front of the director who was very understanding and apologizing. She did her best to reconcile for the stress and provided a very nice meal as compensation. This was appreciated.
The hotel would have scored better (good room, good location) had reception better managed this situation. Mistakes happen, but the attitude, understanding and support was very bad.
