How to Get There
My wife and I visited the end of November.Jackie was excellent. Nothing is to much trouble. I didn’t come for the cricket but got a free ticket from her cousin with free food and drink in a box. The legend that is Viv Richards came in to the box and I was sitting next to Curtly Ambrose. Food at the villas are excellent. Book here for a great experience. Recomnded we got a room upgrade with views to die for.
We stayed here for two weeks during September 2016 but I have only just got around to writing a review. We had a wonderful time and since we were the only guests for most of the two weeks it felt like a home from home. We had the pool to ourselves and we're able to choose our freshly cooked breakfasts and evening meals on a daily basis. Lunches were mostly chosen by Jackie and they were light but we are not big eaters so we were mostly satisfied with her choices. Our suite although a little old fashioned was spacious and comfortable and like the rest of the hotel it was always very clean. Jackie was extremely hospitable and took us out and about, including trips into town and an evening out to Nelsons Dockyard, Shirley Heights and a lovely lobster dinner at another hotel. We all got on so well and keep in touch on a regular basis. I would definitely recommend this boutique hotel to others who want a quiet chilled out holiday and a taste of genuine Antiguan cuisine.
Me and my wife stayed here for a few nights and left earlier than planned due to the substandard of service and behaviour of Kevin.
This is the type of place you go to and realise is not bad but is on the level of a 3* anywhere else.
Being marketed at as a boutique, at the price you pay, we expected to not have to ask three or four times for towels, drinks or other service consistently over our stay. Considering that even at half occupancy this should not be difficult.
Jackie the owner who is also the manager and chef is not prepared nor does she have enough staff to cover a consistent level of service throughout the day.
There is an air of reluctance when we would request something or question about items on the menu.
We initially had planned to stay an extra few nights but Jackie was too busy to give us the respect of a conversation and we were too polite to ask her again after the third time over two days.
After the service we received and the low standard of food and drinks we booked sandals instead - nearby but a little bit more money but well worth it in the end. Though we really wanted to stay in a boutique hotel this just wasn't doing it for us.
For the price, it's really not worth it.
The Villas at Sunset Lane is a small, 10-room boutique hotel. It is built in the Caribbean style, and features an outdoor pool and fitness room. My room was large and well appointed. Air conditioning and Wi-Fi worked well. Jackie is the proprietor and host. She is a wonderful and goes out of her way to help you arrange the best holiday for you. The beach at Dickenson Bay (where sandals is located) is a 5-10 minute walk from the property. I booked through a 3rd party website and did not receive the all-inclusive option, though my rate included a delicious continental breakfast. I recommend booking directly with the property, and taking advantage of the all-inclusive option, since Jackie is a wonderful cook (and there aren't an abundance of restaurants around). Visit the Villas at Sunset Lane for a real slice of Antigua!
I booked The Villa at Sunset Lane a few days prior to my travels for a conference in Antigua. The Villa at Sunset Lane was my last option, as all the other surrounding properties were sold out. Upon my arrival, I was genuinely greeted by Ms. Jackie and her staff and led to my room poolside. (My initial room was undergoing some unexpected repairs) Ms. Jackie advised me that I will be transferred, to another room the following day, to include personally moving my travel bag. Upon my return to the property the next day, I was upgraded to a beautiful spacious room. Both rooms were cozy, charming and beautifully decorated with their own personalities.
The food... The food... Where do I start?? Ms. Jackie is an awesome chef! Case point, I'm not a big or even small fan of onions. Ms. Jackie made a salad and incorporated all local items, to include onions and a homemade special vinaigrette. The end resulted in a plate, wiped clean as a whistle. I definitely say, I packed on a pound or so, on my short trip.
While the other conference goer's complainted about their expereinces at their respective hotels and inns. I was bragging, bragging all about The Villa at Sunset Lane.
Whatever you need, just ask Ms. Jackie. Need a taxi, ask Ms. Jackie. Need insight on Antigua, ask Ms. Jackie.
My stay at The Villa at Sunset Lane was truly an experience. You will arrive as a guest and depart as family! If you are looking for a break from it all, The Villa at Sunset Lane is definitely worth it!
