The Review

Amid the shops, galleries and studios of Buenos Aires’s trendy Palermo Soho neighborhood, the 11-room Glu Hotel is a family-run spot that feels like an intimate home but looks like an homage to sleek minimalism. While the surrounding area is busy at all hours, the property has double-paneled walls and double-paned windows that create a quiet haven. The sanctuary-like vibe is reflected in the use of calming yellows, tans and chocolates in the rooms and common areas.

Unlike in many of Buenos Aires’s hotels, the three room types — the Glam Suite, the Glu Suite and the Luxe Suite — are uniformly spacious, with King beds, lounge areas, bar-top kitchen spaces, leather furniture and roomy bathrooms. Most rooms sleep more than a pair,{“type”:”img-inline”,”src”:”/static/images/product/properties/2887/prop-56126-1338411732-full.jpg”,”width”:”275″,”caption”:”The interiors show off a sharp, modern style, but the family-run property has an intimate vibe.”} though the Glu Hotel attracts couples and friends precisely for its space and personal touches. Expect plush robes and slippers in your room, plus fresh-cut flowers across the property.

The shared spaces in the hotel make good use of the territory as well. The main entrance opens onto a furnished bar area, where the tasty continental breakfast is served each morning. Guests sit on the cream leather couches, sipping strong coffee while perusing local and international publications or plotting a daytime itinerary with the help of the knowledgeable concierge.

Also on the ground floor is a small lounge area and a Scottish shower (a supershower with turbo jets) and sauna facilities — great for early check-in or late check-out — plus a back patio set up with tables and chairs and lit with votives at night. The rooftop terrace offers views of the surrounding low-rise neighborhood from wooden lounge chairs and a small Jacuzzi. Escape here for a dose of calm at the end of a day exploring this cosmopolitan corner of Buenos Aires.

Great location, great service, nice design

As our flight was delayed and we urgently needed to find a hotel in Buenos Aires for another night, we were lucky to get the last room in this great hotel in Palermo. Someone had cancelled on short-notice and we grabbed the room, and very much enjoyed our stay. Lou and Lucas were both super friendly and helpful, and spoke English extremely well. Our room was huge and well-designed with a large, comfortable bed. The bathroom was modern - and both water pressure and temperature were way better than at most places we stayed at. We had a little balcony facing the street, but insulation of the windows worked well so that our room was quiet at night. Breakfast is either served in the room or the little patio, we chose the latter. There is no menu, you basically arrange your choices with the receptionist and it is made-to-order. You can get various egg dishes, toast, croissants, fresh fruit, cheese/ham, jam/dulce the leche, coffee or tea, etc.
The location in Palermo is very convenient - there are restaurants and bars aboard in this area, from fast food burger places to upscale restaurants and speakeasy bars. We found Palermo a very good choice as it is a lively quarter with many options for going out at night - and liked Sunday‘s street fair at Plaza Socorro which is a short walk away.
We would clearly come backt to this hotel and its great location and service!

The Glu Palermo Buenos Aires

From the moment you enter this small Baires gem you'll be greeted by the kind and professional staff and the beautiful smile of Carolina. The location is great, and service better. I needed a little laundry and the ladies were so accommodating and helpful. All folded and ready to go in a flash and no charge. Great breakfast and spacious rooms. I stayed on the 3rd floor facing the back. Quiet, comfortable and well appointed room. Will be back very soon.

Comfortable and Fun Location

We stayed in Room 202, with a balcony across from a gym. I loved sitting on the balcony, reading and enjoying the weather and sounds of kids playing soccer. I was sitting on the balcony, however, because there is only one chair in the room (other than the weird desk chair). The bed was comfortable; there was a fridge, corkscrew and wine glasses, and a desk to work at. Lu and the rest of the staff were wonderfully helpful in making us reservations and in making us comfortable generally. They even loaned us two converters for the Argentinian plugs - wow! We loved the location near lots of shops and restaurants. The hotels and most businesses in the area keep their doors locked at all times, but we did not feel unsafe walking around (maybe we should have?).
