Overview

The Review

Amid the shops, galleries and studios of Buenos Aires’s trendy Palermo Soho neighborhood, the 11-room Glu Hotel is a family-run spot that feels like an intimate home but looks like an homage to sleek minimalism. While the surrounding area is busy at all hours, the property has double-paneled walls and double-paned windows that create a quiet haven. The sanctuary-like vibe is reflected in the use of calming yellows, tans and chocolates in the rooms and common areas.

Unlike in many of Buenos Aires’s hotels, the three room types — the Glam Suite, the Glu Suite and the Luxe Suite — are uniformly spacious, with King beds, lounge areas, bar-top kitchen spaces, leather furniture and roomy bathrooms. Most rooms sleep more than a pair,{“type”:”img-inline”,”src”:”/static/images/product/properties/2887/prop-56126-1338411732-full.jpg”,”width”:”275″,”caption”:”The interiors show off a sharp, modern style, but the family-run property has an intimate vibe.”} though the Glu Hotel attracts couples and friends precisely for its space and personal touches. Expect plush robes and slippers in your room, plus fresh-cut flowers across the property.

The shared spaces in the hotel make good use of the territory as well. The main entrance opens onto a furnished bar area, where the tasty continental breakfast is served each morning. Guests sit on the cream leather couches, sipping strong coffee while perusing local and international publications or plotting a daytime itinerary with the help of the knowledgeable concierge.

Also on the ground floor is a small lounge area and a Scottish shower (a supershower with turbo jets) and sauna facilities — great for early check-in or late check-out — plus a back patio set up with tables and chairs and lit with votives at night. The rooftop terrace offers views of the surrounding low-rise neighborhood from wooden lounge chairs and a small Jacuzzi. Escape here for a dose of calm at the end of a day exploring this cosmopolitan corner of Buenos Aires.

What a great quaint hotel located at the heart of Palermo Soho. The staff is lovely and helpful all the time. The room is large, comfortable and very well equipped. The neighborhood is full of great traditional restaurants, pubs and very close to Plaza Serrano Breakfast is simple but very good and served in the room. The Glu is an experience recommended to everyone planning a trip to the lovely city of Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires was the final stop on a recent three month trip. It was with some excitement that we checked into this property; the #6 ranked hotel in BA on Trip Advisor.

We arrived at 9am, but despite this were able to check-in immediately and shower (at no extra cost), very welcome after our long trek from Germany. This essentially allowed us an extra full day of exploring this wonderful city.

Upon arrival, Diego spent a bit of time with us helping us get the lay of the land and providing maps and suggesting places to go and the best ways to get around. In addition to this, he made a booking for a tango show for us.

We booked the 'luxe' room in the hotel, which has a great amount of space and lots of storage. Which allowed us to unpack and really settle in for our five night stay. The room is very comfortable, the bed a great size and there is a nice outdoor balcony area (we visited in mid-June, so it was a bit chilly to use this). My only note about the room might be that it was the perfect size to have accommodated a couch (rather than one chair), which would have made a really nice sitting area, rather than chilling out and watching TV from the bed all the time.

Breakfast was included and was delivered directly to you room, which is nice touch. We found the food fresh and plentiful.

While this is a lovely hotel, what really sets it apart from others in its class is the wonderful people who work here. As well as Diego, we also chatted and interacted with Melanie and Lucas, both of whom were super helpful with directions, suggestions for places to eat or even just to have a chat.

The hotel is situation in Palermo and is about a 15 minute walk to the nearest metro station, but there are also buses closer by and the hotel happily organise taxis for you.

Overall, our stay at the Glu was a really good way to finish our recent travels. It's certainly a very memorable property thanks to the wonderful people who work there,

Overall a great experience

While I don't consider my stay at the Glu hotel to be perfect - they easily deserve 5 stars. The rooms are great - large, well equipped and stylish, and despite being on a busy street - I could not hear a thing in the room. The hotel staff is amazing - everyone is very friendly and eager to help in whatever way they can - and being for the first time in Buenos Aires, it really made a difference.
The location of the hotel has pros and cons - it is in the great Palermo Soho area, which at night becomes very lively with lots of restaurants and pubs. However, the nearest Subte (metro) station is 1.6 km away, so it does take 15-20 minutes of walking to get there. I was also somewhat disappointed with the breakfast, which could have been much better even though it's a cold breakfast. Breakfast is served in the room, and the choices given are rather limited. IMHO there's room for improvement here.
Overall, however, I had a great stay here and would definitely recommend the GLU.

Excellent hotel

We loved this hotel. Location is excellent and in my favourite neighbourhood of BA. It is small but cosy and extremely clean. The staff were so friendly: they went out of their way to book things for us and bring us breakfast themselves when we had to get up super early for a ferry. Particular mention of Melanie and Lucas who were super nice, welcoming and accommodating. They had excellent recommendations and booked us many things like tango, decent steak restaurants etc. Lucas even waited in the telephone queue to get us tickets for the ferry to Colonia while we went up to our room and booked everything without hesitation. Melanie also had pre-arranged early check in for us which was just what we needed after a 14 hour flight. The breakfast was simple but just what you needed to keep you going and we loved the fact you can get it pretty much whenever you like in your room. Also the staff would bring us teas, coffees and water to the room on request which was another sign of how hospitable this place is. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone and would no doubt come back and stay here! Thank you for your kind hospitality, we really loved the Glu Hotel.
