Removed 1 star for slow service

I would be giving this hotel a 4 star rating if not for the very slow speed to attend to the guests at the reception counter.
There were 2 representatives at the counter when we checked in and 3 when we checked out but it took a long time for each guest to complete the transactions. I was not sure whether this was because each transaction was complicated, thus the lack of expediency.
The hotel does not exchange currency and the ATM inside the hotel ran out of money when we were there. Keep this mind when considering needing local currency.
Hotel room was comfortable, WiFi and AC worked. Location was close to shopping and good restaurants. Breakfast was adequate. Would have rated this hotel 4 if customer services at the reception can be improved.

4.5 Star???

We stayed at the Hotel Panamericano in Buenos Aires for two nights to end our holiday in Argentina and prior to flying out and returning home.

Staff were professional but found the concierge and hotel porter/bell boy to be very polite, friendly and accommodating, more so than reception staff. A smile with a greeting goes a long way.

Room was equipped with a king size bed but the room was much smaller than expected. The hotel we stayed at in Buenos Aires previously was much larger and better maintained, with the same star rating. There was no kettle or coffee/ tea making facilities. Free bottled water was provided but only on the first day of your stay. This was disappointing.

The bathroom was also smaller than expected. During a shower, the shower recess didn’t fully contain all the water so the bathroom floor would also be wet. Water pressure was excellent. Some regular maintenance would help. Even the toilet seat needed replacing.

Breakfast was good.

What makes the hotel shine is the gym/fitness facilities on level 23 and their pool, which all look over the city. If this is what makes it a 4.5 star hotel, then I understand. However, not everyone uses the fitness centre or pool.

I now understand the feedback reviews and rating on the hotels booking app (that we used) which only provided an overall rating as ‘very good’ which isn’t good enough for a 4.5 star hotel. The previous 4.5 star hotel we stayed at in Buenos Aires had an overall review of ‘fabulous’.

City centre location, amazing rooftop views

This is an older hotel, which must have been "grand" in its hey-day. The black and whited tiled lobby is a salute to the past and is quite impressive. The breakfast buffet is located in this area, and consists of a wonderful variety of food and breads. The coffee is delectible! The room we had was undistinguished, but clean and comfy. The best part of this hotel is the rooftop swimming pool/bar/spa on the 23rd floor. The views are truly amazing (get there for sunset)! The spa is incredible! I had one of the very best massages I've had anywhere!
