In trendy Puerto Madero, a waterfront barrio, the Faena Hotel Buenos Aires is built in statuesque red brick, walled in from its buzzing surroundings. The over-the-top style starts in the lobby, with velvet curtains and a sumptuously dark interior. The dramatic color palette of reds, blacks and whites defines the property’s style, and there’s a vibe to match: Beautiful people are everywhere — by the intimate pool, doing business deals in the Library Lounge, eating in the cantina-style El Mercado restaurant.
Bed and Bath
If the public spaces are a study in dark drama, the guestrooms are the opposite. Decorated in bright reds and pure whites, the rooms add drama, some with sleek glass-walled bathrooms, others with mirrored furniture and leather and metallic accents. But wood floors and large windows create a light, airy ambience, while blackout shades ensure undisturbed rest.
Entering the white and gold El Bistro, the property’s upscale restaurant, can be disarming. Don’t let the unicorn heads scare you — the experience will be unusual from start to finish, especially if you order dessert (try the white chocolate egg with a gooey tangerine yolk). El Bistro is just one of the hotel’s public spaces dedicated to the kind of sceney nightlife found in locales like Miami Beach. The famed El Cabaret has authentic tango shows, while the Cellar holds 400 bottles of wine, and the Pool Bar serves fruity cocktails late into the night.
In the Area
Spend an afternoon flexing that plastic in Palermo Soho, a posh part of town that’s home to some of the area’s most unique boutiques. Continue your shopping stocking up on leather and exotic skins at Lopez Taibo and Casa Lopez. When night falls, see an opera or ballet at the legendary Teatro Colón, considered to have some of the best acoustics in the world.
How to Get There
Loved the hotel, great service, great food, excellent library bar. Most of the all the charming ambiance. Have been here twice, then went to Alvear Palace, which is very nice too. But will be back here next time
I have returned to this unique hotel in Buenos Aires after many many years and still gave me the WOW factor. Its beautiful, modern, incredible design by Philippe Starck.
Service is top notch. Everyone goes the extra mile to make you feel special. Couldn't say anything bad about it. Love it
Our trip started with a few nights stay at Faena. It is not your standard big box hotel but a magnificent eclectic building with all of the luxury amenities from beautiful lounge, breakfast and dinner area as well as the beautiful tango lounge
The hotels location and awesome concierge service were helpful in getting around by foot and other modes of transport The setting gave us a safe feeling for waking around
The rooms were large and spacious tastefully appointed
This hotel although not centrally locates is in a nice are of town close to the old docks area. It is walking distance to Florida street the pedestrian shopping street with lots to offer. The main bar is great with nightly music and the Tango show was fantastic.
24hrs hours in the most exquisite luxury hotel in Buenos Aires. Besides the iconic pool decorated with a massive crown, the Hotel caught my attention for the rooms and the delightful spa. I had the chance to experience the Rojo Tango… I'm positive this is a show you wouldn't wanna miss out. Especially, due its amazing dinner. Wish I had more time to explore the hotel activities and areas. Small tip, they have yoga classes and tango lesson.
