In trendy Puerto Madero, a waterfront barrio, the Faena Hotel Buenos Aires is built in statuesque red brick, walled in from its buzzing surroundings. The over-the-top style starts in the lobby, with velvet curtains and a sumptuously dark interior. The dramatic color palette of reds, blacks and whites defines the property’s style, and there’s a vibe to match: Beautiful people are everywhere — by the intimate pool, doing business deals in the Library Lounge, eating in the cantina-style El Mercado restaurant.
Bed and Bath
If the public spaces are a study in dark drama, the guestrooms are the opposite. Decorated in bright reds and pure whites, the rooms add drama, some with sleek glass-walled bathrooms, others with mirrored furniture and leather and metallic accents. But wood floors and large windows create a light, airy ambience, while blackout shades ensure undisturbed rest.
Entering the white and gold El Bistro, the property’s upscale restaurant, can be disarming. Don’t let the unicorn heads scare you — the experience will be unusual from start to finish, especially if you order dessert (try the white chocolate egg with a gooey tangerine yolk). El Bistro is just one of the hotel’s public spaces dedicated to the kind of sceney nightlife found in locales like Miami Beach. The famed El Cabaret has authentic tango shows, while the Cellar holds 400 bottles of wine, and the Pool Bar serves fruity cocktails late into the night.
In the Area
Spend an afternoon flexing that plastic in Palermo Soho, a posh part of town that’s home to some of the area’s most unique boutiques. Continue your shopping stocking up on leather and exotic skins at Lopez Taibo and Casa Lopez. When night falls, see an opera or ballet at the legendary Teatro Colón, considered to have some of the best acoustics in the world.
How to Get There
I have been staying here for years and you will not find a better place to stay in Buenos Aires.Great location, great staff, great facilities, and amazing just to look at.Make sure you catch the Hotel's Rojo Tango show. By far the best tango show in the city.
We had a wonderful stay at the Faena last week, and we were very sorry to leave. The hotel was beautifully decorated, and the service was exquisite. A special recognition must go to Victor, a guest experience manager, who was always there to make our stay wonderful - his attention and recommendations made our trip truly memorable, and I’m not sure how we would have had such a nice experience without him - thanks Victor! We can’t wait to come back. Bravo!
We stayed here after our Antartica trip and we were exhausted, they give us a super tiny room so we went back down and requested to upgrade, after we waited 20 min we got another room and this was bigger and nicer but as soon as I open the curtains we saw the dead birds right outside our window; so we told the guy who was showing us the room to please get someone to pick them up(we were on the 2nd floor so the birds were on a big terrace). but the next morning they were still there, so we didn't open the curtains on our entire stay.
The first night we went to the tango show at the hotel wich was fabulous and after we went to the room to sleep but the noise from the hotel bar was so loud that we had a real hard time sleeping and that also went on overnight on our entire stay .
Breakfast had a great good selection of food and good service, also the spa had a nice atmosphere and the massage was very nice. thats why they didn't get only 2 stars.
When the room was serviced they were always missing something, so we had to call room service to get it sent to us and it would take 1 hour before we got it, once was towels another time was robes etc..
The hotel is very dark and, Most front desk are annoyed the you ask questions .
When explaining to the blonde from desk lady that we were leaving 15 min before 7 so we could not make it to breakfast but wondering if they could make us a boxed breakfast she basically told me off and said that would not do anything that the breakfast that they include is the buffet and if I could not have it at 7 I was not going to have anything, she was in-fact very rude, so after I reported the incident to another guy to have it on record how rude she was, and he totally dismissed my report and begin to tell me the same thing about the fact that even if I prepaid for breakfast they would not give me any before 7, when a simple "sorry she was rude to you" would had made me feel better.
We always stay in 5 star hotels and never mind paying the fees but here we were not treated nice so I really had a hard time explaining to my husband why I choose this hotel over the Park Hyatt were we stayed before and get great service.
not with the hype stay somewhere else !!
Fabulous hotel, great service, not cheap but worth the price. we did the tango show plus dinner and it was excellent and highly recommended. only criticism was the service at the pool area was slow but we were there on a public holiday and it was very busy.
Swanky (but not overly pretentious) hotel that I really enjoyed. I was only there for one night and wish I would have booked it for my entire stay. The staff was very helpful and nice. All expectations were met.
