How to Get There
We booked into the Casa Calma hotel for three nights at the start of our South American tour and it proved to be a great choice. The hotel itself is quite small - just two (spacious and clean) rooms on each of 9 floors - and includes a good breakfast area, honesty bar and small library on the ground floor.
Great location, close to the 14-lane Avenida de 10 Julio (widest avenue in the world) with its famous obelisk, within easy walking distance of Plaza de Mayo and San Thelmo, and within a short metro ride of all major attractions.
Biggest highlight for us was the staff - all very friendly, super-helpful, able to recommend great restaurants (Fervor, Parilla Pena and le Pecora Nera) and speaking excellent English (and no doubt a host of other languages).
In addition to the usual attractions, we'd recommend San Thelmo market, the Museum of Modern Art (currently showing an exhibition by an amazing Argentinian artist called Max Gomez Canle) and a night at the El Viejo Almacen Tango show - the highlight of our three days.
Spent a weekend here in between meetings in Brasil and Argentina. Excellent place. The service is very good and you really notice that it is genuinely important to the staff that you have a good time. Rooms are spacious and of really high standard. Next time I will bring my wife.
The Casa Calma hotel is a wonderful place to stay in Buenos Aires. It is located in a quiet, safe street with lots of good restaurants closeby and is within easy walking distance of several tourist areas. The room was beautiful, with a truly luxurious bathroom including a spa bath. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, served in a pleasant room. All the staff were lovely-friendly and helpful. I highly recommend staying here.
Excellent location near Teatro Colon, multiple stores and restaurants. Ricoletta Cemetary is about a 20 minute walk away. The front desk staff attends to one's every need with a smile. They are so pleasant and helpful in making recommendations, assisting with any issues and even provided a last minute luggage tag for me when needed! The rooms are very spacious and beautiful. There is fruit infused water in the lobby and nearby area for a good breakfast. Great place to stay!
The location is excellent - very near all the main sites. The staff on the front desk are really superb - they just can't do enough to help. When we arrived our room wasn't quite ready, however, we were shown another room if we wanted to get settled. Nothing was too much trouble and the room itself was delightful. Everything worked perfectly and we were given really good restaurant choices for dinner.
