How to Get There
We stayed at the Captain Farris House B&B for three nights - it was the perfect base from which to explore Cape Cod. The owners, Carol and Jeff, are very personable, welcoming and helpful. On one occasion when we asked Carol for a recommendation for a local restaurant serving lobster, she came up with an excellent suggestion and then called them without us asking, to see if they had fresh lobster that day and to reserve two for us - I was impressed!
The B&B is well-located; Yarmouth is in central Cape Cod and we found that to be ideal for exploring in any direction. There are many restaurants close by, we walked to dinner both evenings. Beaches, boardwalks and even things to do on a rainy day are only a short drive away. The CC Rail Trail is also convenient to Yarmouth though we didn't get to enjoy it as our weather was not conducive to riding.
Our room (#1 - Reuben's room), on the main floor next to the breakfast room, was beautifully furnished and quiet. The tone is old style cozy elegance. We had a queen sized canopy bed with a good mattress and high-end bed linens, an ensuite bathroom with a large, walk-in shower, lots of hot water, fluffy white towels and two bathrobes. We had our own thermostat for room temperature control, two opening windows and a private covered deck with chairs. Plenty of storage, TV/VCR (many movies provided in the common area).
The common areas included a lovely parlour with complementary port, sherry and amaretto laid out; and a sitting room where tea/coffee and snacks (bagged chips & popcorn) were available any time AND where freshly baked cookies made a daily appearance, such a good smell! A microwave was provided and we were told the kitchen fridge was available for storing small food items.
Good wifi provided. Lots of parking. Lovely grounds.
Breakfasts were something to look forward to! Alternating sweet and savoury days - we had French toast/glazed apple casserole with maple syrup preceded by a yogurt/fruit parfait & orange juice and coffee on Day 1; Day 2 was a peach/blueberry muffin just out of the oven, then a ham & cheese frittata with honey ham and fresh fruit, juice & coffee; Day 3 was maple vanilla baked pears with yogurt, Belgian waffles with peach/blueberry compote, sausage and maple syrup and juice & coffee. My goodness! Well above the ordinary! Attentive, friendly table service.
I highly recommend this B&B!
Nice quaint beautiful bed and breakfast. The owners were very accommodating. I am a non meat eater, they made a special breakfast for me every morning. My room was just like they described on the website. The location was great. One recommendation if you decide to take the ferry over to Martha’s Vineyard pay the extra and take the one closest to BB, if not you spend around the same amount if you have to pay for parking. We went to a spectacular beach and stopped at the recommended deli- fabulous. The restaurants in the area were just ok. Every evening we came back to homemade bake-goods that were simply delightful. I highly recommend this BB.
Carol and Jeff could not have been more welcoming- what a pleasure to be greeted by name. Our room Bray’s Retreat was lovely- a wonderful bed and huge jetted tub-excellent toiletries- especially the shampoo ! Breakfast was alternating- savoury and sweet x we were lucky to have one of each- blueberry pancakes with carmelized bananas- yummy ! Next day perfect eggs over hash browns and bacon- all presented beautifully. The location is very central for exploring the Cape
A great experience with wonderful innkeepers
