How to Get There
Stayed here for 5 nights, and really did not want to leave, Jeff and Carol are amazing hosts, and the staff are great. Our room was Captain’s quarters which was on lower floor, we had our own verandah, which every morning we would sit on and relax with a cup of coffee, idyllic, Breakfasts were original, tasty and presented beautifully, with fresh fruit and as much juice and coffee as you could drink. If you are going to beach, Jeff and Carol provided beach chairs and towels, if you are looking for dinner , every menu for restaurants nearby are in dining room, tell Carol what you fancy to eat and she will make reservations for you. Coffee, tea , hot chocolate and sodas, water, are all available to help yourself, mints and chocolates, popcorn and dvds, guides and maps and freshly made cookies or cakes each afternoon. Plenty of parking, large gardens with chairs to sit on, the room was clean and comfortable, if I come back to Cape Cod, which I am hoping to as we loved it, I will stay here, can’t recommend enough
Returning from Nantucket we were looking for some quality accommodation in the Cape Cod area for our last few days in New England. On recommendation by friends (the internet can always be deceiving) we booked the Captain Farris House for a two night stay.
On arrival we were made so welcome and made to feel at home by both Jeff and Carol. The moment you walk into the property you instantly feel Quality. The CFH is in the premier league when it comes to B&B’s.
The original house dates back to 1849.
The ground floor accommodates the breakfast room and sitting room.
Relaxing in the sitting room you would be forgiven for thinking you have returned to an earlier era, elegantly decorated and furnished with antique furniture with sherry and port on the side.
The rear extension provides a large kitchen area with all the all the mod cons. Guests are invited to make full use of the facilities. Breakfast is served from 8.30 am and skilfully prepared by Carol and Jeff with a menu that changes daily. It really is first class.
What was once a courtyard between the back of the original house and new extension has been enclosed with a roof lantern over providing streams of natural daylight into a break out area where guests can sit enjoy the homemade cookies, tea, coffee and research the area using all the information on hand including many local restaurants.
On our first night we dined on the recommendation of the CFH at Buca’s an authentic Italian Restauraunt - 20 minute drive; Highly recommended. On our second night again by recommendation we walked to the local Irish bar O’Shea’s where they play live music every night. A great atmosphere.
Both Jeff and Carol who left the corporate world in the Big Apple are two lovely people who are following their dream. The standard of the accommodation, the breakfast and the friendly staff all make this a top class B&B. You would be lucky to find anything much better for the money, and they really deserve success for all their hard work and attention to detail.
The location is ideal for either island hopping or exploring Cape Cod and we have no hesitation in passing on our recommendation to others.
Thank you Jeff and Carol for your hospitality.
Fabulous, welcoming, clean, great food, fabulous central location. Carole and Jeff as hosts ensured all the needs were met. After hours cookies and coffee or tea were always available. They answered and advised on the area. The spa bathroom was nice and an upgrade from expectation. Lots of free parking too.
I was looking for the most perfect place to take my husband for his 40th birthday. I reviewed and looked and searched all over New England and Captain Farris House Bed and Breakfast just kept popping up. It was the absolute perfect get away for the two of us. Carol and Jeff were the most amazing hosts... From helping with all all questions while we were trying to find out information on where to go for dinners, to what to do in the area, and even ordering a birthday cake for my husband.
I don't even want to write a review because I do not want others to find out about this amazing GEM of a place!!! :) I can not wait to get back. The room was gorgeous, the breakfasts every morning were out of this world... and who doesn't love a full length selfie mirror!!!! I loved having coffee and snacks available all day and night too.
Carol and Jeff are now family and we can't wait to go back to visit!!!
I am a neighbor that lives in same area. I thought it was a good idea to reach out and support our local neighbors. I contacted Jeff and Carol to see what they could do to accommodate my family. It was like having our home down the street. Everything was. Perfect. What you would expect from a beautiful old traditional Cape Cod B&B. I could go on forever, please take the word of a man that has been in the hospitality industry for 45 years. Bass River is a very unique area that is a hidden treasure
