How to Get There
Stayed here for six nights and found it to be an excellent location, some really good restaurants within walking distance each evening. The hosts, Tom , Billie and not forgetting Billie’s mom, make you extremely welcome. The breakfasts are great. It is lovely that the hosts have gradually been upgrading the property, including double glazing to eliminate the small amount of noise, but they have also kept the character of this beautiful house. There are lovely touches like turning due. Your bed , leaving a chocolate and fresh baked cookies in the parlour every afternoon. Tom and Bille are able to offer advice on potential trips and sightseeing options which was really helpful. I will definitely be recommending this lplace to family and friends
We stayed at The Palmer House Inn for five nights. It is a lovely old house, very comfortable and in an excellent location. Our room was at the front of the house, which suffered from road noise occasionally, but it did not stop us from sleeping. Breakfasts are delicious with lots of choice if you want a lighter buffet type meal, but the cooked breakfasts are wonderful! There are lots of excellent restaurants on Main Street of all types, all within a few minutes walk of the Inn.
We took two trips to Martha’s Vineyard having bought the ferry tickets from Billy before we went. The shuttle buses to the port can be picked up just down the street from the Inn and run frequently.
There is a bike path which starts nearby which we walked a couple of times right down into Woods Hole. If you would rather cycle, there is a cycle rental shop nearby.
I would recommend this Inn 100%.
Rob and I and our two Minature Schnauzers spent a delightful 2 days
with our hosts, Billy, Tom and Audrie and Toby. We stayed in the Cottage which was very convenient for my handicapped husband
with a side door and ramp and walk in shower. Our hosts were very helpful directing us to to areas of interest in the Cape, calling for reservations and giving us information about the ferries.
The gourmet breakfasts of French Toast and Eggs Benedict were serve in the beautiful Victorian breakfast area. Homemade cookies and fruit and tea and coffee were available all day in the Dining Room.
The Palmer House is 15 minutes from the ferry and 2 blocks from shops and restaurants.
Encouraged by recent Trip Advisor ratings, we decided to revisit the Palmer House Inn after what we discovered was a 13-year absence. With new owners on board (since May 2018), we found them diligently tending to a variety of minor interior projects as well as some on the exterior, yet none of this work compromised their serious attention to hospitality. Room 5 was our well-appointed abode for four comfortable nights, the breakfast each morning was delicious (including the hearty blueberry johnnycakes), the afternoon goodie was either oven-fresh cookies, carrot cake, or chocolate bundt cake.
One might be tempted to think that Brody, the house canine, really runs the place, but not to worry: this oversized dog adds to the homey feel of the Palmer House. All the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the innkeepers were always eager to learn about their guests and share their own experiences. The physical location of the inn is a walk of just a few minutes to reach the center of town where boutique shopping and restaurants await you. A clean, comfy inn with great food and staff, topped off by ease of access to shopping and dining... it's as good as it gets...
This trip to Cape Cod was only a day trip and a friend recommended The Palmer House for the stay. As soon as I went on the site I immediately knew this was the place to stay. It was the most delightful 'stay away from home' stay. The feel around the house is comfortable and warm. And the caretakers are friendly and most hospitable. A must stay if you're visiting Falmouth!
~The delighted guests who stayed in the SL Clemens aka 'Mark Twain' room...enjoy!
