The Review

The Post Hotel Weggis, a waterfront hotel on Switzerland’s Lake Lucerne, is a refreshing breath of cool in this normally staid mountain village. The property even has a nickname that sounds like a trendy neighborhood: PoHo.

{“type”:”img-inline”,”src”:”/static/images/product/properties/2944/prop-19138-1339613876-full.jpg”,”width”:”275″,”caption”:”The indoor swimming pool has clubby lighting that changes as you move.”}Which makes sense, because the hotel’s designers must have channeled the vibe of Zurich West in the planning stages. Zurich’s superhip gentrified factory district certainly pops into mind when you walk through the hotel’s bold, brash interiors, which are full of leopard-print carpets, tangerine walls and high-fashion art (prudes beware: The ladies in these striking canvases are close to nude). Some of the building’s original features do remain, such as the tiled staircase and glittery gold railings (the spot was formerly Weggis’s casino and, even further back, part of the post office).

Each of the 45 guestrooms teems with trendy electronics: flat-screen TVs, PlayStations and mind-boggling sound systems. Spacious and fitted with comfortable (but groovy) furniture, all the rooms sport lovely views of the city or lake.

Elsewhere, the spa (which features a fitness center and sauna) is a great place to relax after a day on the water or mountain, and the indoor pool changes colors as you swim, like some sort of psychedelic fantasy. PoHo’s Dining Lounge specializes in contemporary small plates ordered as three- or five-course meals, each arriving at the table like a work of art. We like the duck breast and bok choy served in what looks like a spilled tea cup.

Alternatively, in answer to the recent Swiss frenzy for traditional fare, the hotel opened Weggiser Stubli, a restaurant in a century-old building. There you can order such Swiss staples as fondue. And although Weggis isn’t known for nightlife, the hotel has two hopping bars to recommend it — one on a lakeside terrace and the other at water’s edge.

Positives: great location, friendly service, no problem with contact via email, always someone at the reception if had questions, nice breakfast, nice bday decoration in the room on request.

Negatives: in general funny smell in the room, on the picture above bed some stains (don't want to even think what it might have been), 1 coffee capsule per person, no tea in the room, phone didn't work properly to call reception about the table lamps that didn't work, after 3rd call someone came and solve the issue, 1 of 4 lamps in bathroom didn't work as well, lack of slippers for SPA, yes SPA well..there is a lot to complain about the main would be cleanness! People are walking there in shoes, in the whole spa area even by the pool; pool dirty with strange film on the surface and stairs going down to the water; sauna dirty - even if it was naked zone I would have never dare to sit there naked; no water to throw on stones in sauna..so I wanted to have a nice SPA with my partner - well it lasted 10 min. Gym looked good but didn't go there after spa experience.

General impression: all in the hotel is done half-way. Unfortunately, I wouldn't come back.

Amazing place

We discovered the Post Hotel in Weggis by chance on our way back from Austria; what a find!!!
The staff gave us a great welcome and were very helpful in all respects. The location is beautiful, situated on the edge of a beautiful lake with spectacular views.

We couldn’t fault the place and it was a real bargain, even with the breakfast added on.

We’ll definitely be back...

Thank you for a great experience.

The rooms are really nice and the views are amazing. Just in front of the ferry stop and also bus stop
It has a sauna, a steam room and a swimming pool that are really nice .
The rooms are big with a nice terrace looking towards the beautiful lake and the bathroom has a bathtub

The worst thing is the moquete all over the place in different weird colors green purple tiger... decoration in the lobby it’s really bad but in the rooms it’s a bit better

Really nice staff

This hotel actually a really great one. The staff is really friendly, the view is perfect of Lucerne Lake and quite big room.. only the minus is about the room lightning is a bit dark. But actually itnis not such a big deal for me.. the hotel is located 10 in small village called Weggis about 10 mins from Lucerne

Great views to the lake

A pool and a gym were a nice addition. There were also a sauna and a steam room. Balcony view to the lake was great. Toilet with glass made slide door was weird. Restaurants looked very nice, but we did not eat there.
