The Review

The Post Hotel Weggis, a waterfront hotel on Switzerland’s Lake Lucerne, is a refreshing breath of cool in this normally staid mountain village. The property even has a nickname that sounds like a trendy neighborhood: PoHo.

{“type”:”img-inline”,”src”:”/static/images/product/properties/2944/prop-19138-1339613876-full.jpg”,”width”:”275″,”caption”:”The indoor swimming pool has clubby lighting that changes as you move.”}Which makes sense, because the hotel’s designers must have channeled the vibe of Zurich West in the planning stages. Zurich’s superhip gentrified factory district certainly pops into mind when you walk through the hotel’s bold, brash interiors, which are full of leopard-print carpets, tangerine walls and high-fashion art (prudes beware: The ladies in these striking canvases are close to nude). Some of the building’s original features do remain, such as the tiled staircase and glittery gold railings (the spot was formerly Weggis’s casino and, even further back, part of the post office).

Each of the 45 guestrooms teems with trendy electronics: flat-screen TVs, PlayStations and mind-boggling sound systems. Spacious and fitted with comfortable (but groovy) furniture, all the rooms sport lovely views of the city or lake.

Elsewhere, the spa (which features a fitness center and sauna) is a great place to relax after a day on the water or mountain, and the indoor pool changes colors as you swim, like some sort of psychedelic fantasy. PoHo’s Dining Lounge specializes in contemporary small plates ordered as three- or five-course meals, each arriving at the table like a work of art. We like the duck breast and bok choy served in what looks like a spilled tea cup.

Alternatively, in answer to the recent Swiss frenzy for traditional fare, the hotel opened Weggiser Stubli, a restaurant in a century-old building. There you can order such Swiss staples as fondue. And although Weggis isn’t known for nightlife, the hotel has two hopping bars to recommend it — one on a lakeside terrace and the other at water’s edge.

Great views to the lake

A pool and a gym were a nice addition. There were also a sauna and a steam room. Balcony view to the lake was great. Toilet with glass made slide door was weird. Restaurants looked very nice, but we did not eat there.

Perfect Stay

Stayed here in Sept for 2nights.
Booked a lake view room with balcony and so glad I did...Stunning views of the lake and mountains.
All staff I came across were so friendly and helpful and all had a smile.
Nice sized room with comfortable beds.
Good breakfast again with beautiful views and very helpful friendly staff.
Ferry stop is directly opposite hotel and secure underground parking is available.
A very comfortable stay and I would stay here again.

Lake front Hotel

We booked online for 1 night and after we arrived wish we had booked for 2 as it was such a pretty location with an amazing view from our room. The room was a good size with double doors to the lakefront balcony. It was a nice location for a meal or just a few drinks overlooking the lake. The boat trip around the lake was a great experience. I had a swim in the lake which was refreshing followed by a leisurely swim in the hotels indoor heated pool which was great. There are a number of cafes etc all within a short stroll and anyone served good well priced meals. Good secure onsite carparking.Would definitely stay here again.

Great Location - and it stops there!

The hotel is directly opposite the ferry stop which is excellent. The checkin required waiting until 3 pm - whilst others customers were checked In while we were waiting - directly in front of reception. The service is disjointed with the safe reported as not being operational, the lamp in bedroom did not work, the air conditioning was not working (4 calls until action taken re safe and air conditioning). We were advised that the safe could not fix until housekeeping staff returned after a weekend - still wasn’t fixed when we were leaving. Dining facilities - read previous reviews and use Restaurant Oliv next door ( seperate to Post Hotel)to avoid poor service for breakfast and dinner. No black tea available as had run out and staff were extremely inexperienced - terrible coffee. Decor in the bedroom OK - but a tacky casino type look throughout the corridors, reception and restaurants with green, purple and red wall paper, leopard skin type carpet and neon strip lights. There are lots of apartments and alternative options - possibly pursue these. The hotel management requires urgent assessment and action re the constant concerns raised for what could be the perfect hotel in the perfect location.

Wonderful View - Quiet Place

Comparing to other hotels, I relay do believe this hotel give you a great value for your money. A very quiet and relaxed location with amazing view on the lake and Swiss mountains. If you are doing a Euro Car Trip, They do have an indoor parking with extra charge.
