Behind its 19th-century façade, a sense of Italianate tranquility pervades the 89-room Una Hotel Napoli. Its location off Piazza Garibaldi means you’re close to Naples’s top sites, like Castel Capuano and the Duomo, and when you’re ready to explore beyond the city limits to Pompeii or Sorrento, the train station is less than a five-minute walk away. Guestrooms feature colors that reflect the local geography, with warm terra-cotta tones and shades of Pompeii red. Some rooms feature sections of the building’s original walls which were revealed during a thoughtful restoration project. The rooftop restaurant serves traditional Neapolitan dishes and regional wines, and the views are remarkable. From most tables you can see the city’s winding streets stretching toward the coastline and the imposing silhouette of Mount Vesuvius in the distance.
In the Area
Take one of the city’s funicular trains up the hill of Vómero — easy to use and more fun than negotiating the city’s steeper streets on foot. There’s a range of world-class museums in town, including the Museo Archeologico Nazionale, which houses one of the planet’s most stunning archeological collections and is within a 20-minute walk from the hotel. Sample Neapolitan dishes from authentic 17th-century recipes at La Cantina del Sole in the Spaccanapoli district. Hydrofoils and ferries provide bay tours and daytrips to the nearby islands of Capri, Procida and Ischia.
How to Get There
We stayed here overnight after arriving from Rome airport by bus. It was a short walk from the bus station across the wonderful Piazza Garibaldi, which was both terrifying and exciting. Checkin at the UNA Hotel was quick and easy, the room was clean and adequate for our stay, and the windows opened onto the Piazza which we loved to look out over and watch all the chaos and activity. No noise once the windows were closed, we slept well and enjoyed the beautiful roof-top breakfast complete with sneaky sea gulls who entertained the visitors and also enjoyed some breakfast.
Staff were friendly and helpful with advice on where to eat and things to see while in Naples.
UNA arranged a taxi for us to the Molo Beverello ferry point to cross the bay to Sorrento. We would stay here again when in Naples.
We stayed here for one night before making our way down to the Amalfi coast. The hotel is a few blocks away from the train station, which made it very convenient. They were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant in the roof has a great view and was a great place to eat dinner.
I was contacted after my booking by the hotel to confirm approx arrival. When i asked for late check in there was no issue. On arrival we were able to park the car directly in front of the hotel, and they then took it and parked it for us (the square the hotel is located on takes bit of navigating so this was welcomed by my friend that was the driver lol).
The hotel is lovely, very clean and the rooms are tidy and pretty spacious for a city hotel. The roof terrace for drinks and food is fantastic, and its a great location if you are moving on to the Train Station, as we were the following day. We found this hotel great value for money and would def recommend.
Whilst the room was large with a good sized bathroom, it was extremely noisy all day and night. The mattress and pillows were very hard which, combined with the noise, made it impossible to sleep. We had booked a suite and requested a room not facing the square and on a high floor, instead we were given a room on the first floor on the corner with noise from the square and three roads. The market also set up directly below our windows which added to the noise factor. We were happy to leave after two sleepless nights.
We have just returned from a holiday in Naples. We stayed at Una Hotel for a week and we loved our stay there.
It's in the centre of Naples in a busy square not far from the train station and you can walk to lots of places from the hotel. I also recommend walking to the main attractions as there is so much to see along the way. The hotel gave us a map with all the local attractions on. It's also safe to walk, we had no problems and chatted to some helpful locals. No need for a taxis!
The hotel is lovely with comfy beds, helpful staff and a balcony with window that blocks out any outside noise. We had great nights sleep every night. The hotel is also kept very clean with good maid service.
We also saw a variety of crazy stuff from the balcony in the evening times, way more entertaining than watching tv!
Naples is full of life and there is lots of lovely sites to visit. I would recommend booking this hotel to enjoy Naples to it's fullest.
