How to Get There
We chose this hotel as it was one of only a few in the town centre which had on-site parking. We were completely delighted when we arrived and found a stunningly elegant hotel which had just been completely refurbished by its new owners. Every part of the hotel has been renovated to a luxurious standard. The large garden is a beautiful place to relax.
The delicious continental breakfast is served in a stylish room overlooking the garden and can be taken on the patio if you wish. Complementary tea and coffee are available all day in the beautiful library. Nadège,the owner, is extremely friendly and very helpful. The hotel is a five minute walk to the cathedral and tapestry museum. A slightly longer walk will take you to the Battle for Normandy museum and British War Cemetery. In our opinion our stay was excellent value for money and we will certainly return here in future.
I booked late online, and Nadege offered to take us (my wife & I) in, but could only put us up in a different room on each of our 3 nights.
We arrived on D-Day, and trained from CDG to Bayeux. Domaine de Bayeux was only a short walk from the station; but we got a ride from a very friendly coach driver-lady who doesn't speak a word of English.
Nadege speaks excellent English, and was very warm and welcoming. Thank you again, Nadege for your hospitality.
Day 1 - we slept in the attic room, "Sword" - I think Nadege named her 8 rooms after the Normandy landing beaches. We love this room best, because it is so cosy; there is enough room to move around. The bed is comfortable and the sheets are crisp & clean; slept really well. The little circular attic window opens on a hinge for fresh air, and look out to the beautiful back garden. Open bathroom and toilet is modern and very clean.
The only problem - we have to carry our bags up 2 floors up to the attic!!! Not good for old people like us, -but, love the Mirrors on the landings, and all the paintings.
Jacque was very helpful in moving our bags each subsequent moving day.
Day 2 - we slept in the the biggest room, a suite called Clovielle, I think it's called; it is on the ground floor, and has a lounge, big bedroom with fireplace, ensuite which opens out to the back garden. Enough room to dance around. Very comfortable bed, not as cosy.
Day 3 - We moved upstair to the first floor to a double room, can't remember the name.
but as with the others, nicely appointed, clean and comfortable.
Overall, we had a lovely stay in Normandy, Nadege helped us with maximising our visits to the old town, museums, restaurants, as well as excursions to Mont St Michel, and the D-Day landing beaches & war cemeteries and museums.
Thanks Nadege and Jacque for a memorable Normandy experience.

This lovely chateau has a split personality. The front is all efficiency; gravelled forecourt with lots of parking, five minute walk from train station, and within a ten minute walk of most of the attractions and restaurants in town. The back has a romantic view of trees and countryside beyond a large lawn with flower borders. I believe all the rooms face this peaceful vista. The rooms are a juxtaposition of modern comfort and cleanliness with stately appointments. Large scrumptious shower with great pressure. Guests have access to a comfortable lounge area with games and reading material, 24/7 coffee/tea facilities, and entry to the garden. There is no lift, but stairs are easy to navigate with wide treads and sturdy rails. Strong Wifi. Nadege, the owner, provided guest service beyond all expectations. A train strike was announced for my day of departure and Nadege spent considerable time and effort helping me make new arrangements to reach the Eurostar in Calais. Highly recommend a stay here.
Charming place and a helpful host, spacious room (and bathroom!), nice breakfast to start the day. About a 5 minute walk to downtown Bayeux, 20 min drive to Omaha Beach, 90 min to Mont St.-Michel. Great spot to use a base for a Normandy visit. I would definitely recommend Domaine de Bayeux.
This is a beautiful traditional house in Bayeux. It’s less than a 10 minute walk to the centre of town and yet feels like it’s in the countryside. Immaculate gardens and beautifully furnished rooms. Nice breakfast. Great welcome. If you look at the description and then the price and wonder “what’s the catch?” There isn’t one - this really is excellent value for somewhere in the town. The reception is not open early afternoon - it opens at 4pm. Worth knowing if you’re looking for a last minute booking.
