How to Get There
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Every person I came across could not be more accommodating.
Don't expect a restaurant or lounge like you normally get in a hotel. The "lounge" has basically the corridor to the elevators with some tables and chairs in it. A very small area. The restaurant was a room with maybe a dozen tables and a shuffle board. There was one table being used each night I was there. Not a happening place.
Since this hotel is in a residential area there aren't many choices to walk to get something to eat close by. You will want to take Ride Share.
While the interior design in the rooms is great (coming from an interior designer) the quality of the construction is terrible. The floors are wobbly and they creek when you walk. You can hear the neighbors next to you and above. There is crumbling drywall and unfinished moldings. It doesn't do justice to the rooms decor.
There was also a consistent loud hum that kept happening. I thought maybe it was the elevator but there was a room between us. Luckily I brought ear plugs.
I come to LA for work regularly and check out hotels to compare to what we are designing and I would not stay here again.
Words cannot explain how accommodating this hotel has been. One of a kind care and consideration. From the valet to the management the customer service is beyond expectations. We are so happy and grateful that we could observe the sabbath in such comfort. They not only received our catering and prime now deliveries, they also put our food into the fridge of our super cute kitchenette. The property has a totally hipster vibe and the artwork is fabulous. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did on our awesome girls trip!!!!
I stayed at The Montrose on a solo trip to LA for a friends induction into the Academy. It is centrally locates and came highly recommended to me by the friend I was visiting. The hotel is stylish and cool, though ultimately not my style. I decided to check out early because of business and the front desk manager was helpful, accommodating and waived the penalty for the early check out. I was immensely grateful for the understanding and good service. It may not be a great fit for me personally but if you’re looking for something urban, centrally located and cool - this is your place.
As many have said, this is situated in a quiet part of the neighborhood, but a close walk to Sunset Strip or Sta Monica Blv.
Check in was quick though sadly we weren't informed about the wine & vinyl happy hour, we only found out about this 2 days into our stay. It was a great and pleasant way to meet some of the staff and other guests and a very welcome place to hide from the cold and rain (yes we were unlucky in that sense in our stay!).
The 'restaurant' part was also very well decorated with comfortable sofas/chairs as well as the tables and a great shuffleboard. We ate breakfast & dinner a couple of times and the food was excellent albeit it usually took a while to come (we were not in a hurry so no problem there!) All service staff were very kind and Agustin made us feel specially welcome.
The room was nice and spacious with a 'separate' kitchenette, large sofa, 2 TVs and great artwork all around. You could also separate the bedroom area with a curtain for more privacy. The room fridge/bar/food was well stocked and the prices for room items were not outrageous either which was a good surprise! The bathroom was large with great extra little touches such as cotton buds & moisturizer. I wish the shower had a bit more pressure given it looked modern and stylish, but alas that's the only small thing I can complain about.
Overall a great stay and if I ever find myself in LA I would definitely stay at the Montrose again!
The room was awesome!! Room was contemporary, very spacious, quiet, and super stylish. The hotel is in a great location. The staff was helpful and friendly. I would stay there again and recommend it to others!!
