How to Get There
While everything was beautiful and clean our room was very un- restful. It was too hot to relax in the 3rd floor room. The "air conditioner" was so loud (as loud as a lawnmower!) that we could not rest while it was on. The light from the skylights (there are 3) made it unable to rest in the day because of the heat coming in and at night there is a bright light shining though the skylight making it unable to sleep at night. We couldn't sleep with the window wide open to make it cooler because of bugs and we couldn't sleep with the air on because it was so loud. The hotel really needs to find an alternative to this room in the summer or do not rent it out. Or warn their guest before they give it to them and give them the option to change. When I complained to the front desk she said, "ya, it does get hot." She did not offer any changing rooms or anything.
For breakfast we had a spicy egg dish and flavored waffles the first day and a mushroom egg dish and apple pancakes the second day. My husband did not like either. I liked all of them but the mushroom eggs. The extra stuff like hard boiled eggs, scones, etc were nice. Orange juice would be nice all days, it was only available one day.
There was afternoon wine and hors d'oeuvres. This and cookies and coffee/tea, is a nice touch and one of the reasons I chose this hotel.
The site is beautiful and it's lovely to sit on the deck and watch the ocean. But if you are on the second floor where the deck is, your window with a view of the ocean is right there, and in the summer, it's likely open, so you probably don't get to rest either!
All in all, lovely room, not good for the summer months on the 3rd floor. I bet it's great in the winter when you can cuddle in the warm room, use the jetted tub and sit by the fireplace. I'd give it a second chance in the winter but who wants to go to the beach in the winter?
We stayed for one night and absolutely loved it! Beautifully restored old Victorian home. Cozy rooms. Ours had an electric fireplace, small seating area, and spacious bathroom with jacuzzi style tub. Small mini fridge and Keurig in room. Lovely room for a romantic getaway. Across the street from the beach and warf! Easy walk to many restaurants. About a 15 min walk to downtown. Great staff, lovely breakfast, and beautiful ocean view from front lawn, porch, and our room!
The staff is second to none and the accommodations were better than expected! Close to everything but far enough away for piece and quiet, They really care abut their guests and do all they can to make your stay memorable.
