Word on the street is that Beach Street Inn and Suites is one of the top
stays in Santa Cruz – and that’s the word on TripAdvisor, too, which
currently ranks the property in its top three local hotels. And if
you’re wondering how a four-year-old getaway could rack up over 300
five-star reviews, you’re underestimating just how charming an
oceanfront charmer can be; “friendly” and “inviting” are just two of the
words that have popped up repeatedly to describe everything from the
room décor to the helpful, smiling staff here.
“Amazing,” meanwhile, is how guests have described the inn’s proximity to the
Pacific – you’re so close that you can not only see and hear the
saltwater from the front door, but smell it. When you’re not dozing off in your cozy abode,
floating around in the pool, hitting the café or firing up the charcoal
Weber grill for an impromptu barbecue, you’ll find it hard to resist the
lure of the waves. Luckily, there are plenty of ways for you to get
even closer to them. Stroll over to the beautiful boardwalk, or grab a
board and find out why those buzzing locals call this coastal destination the real Surf City.
Rooms, suites and bungalows
Each accommodation at Beach
Street has recently been renovated and boasts a
flat-screen TV and an ocean view. Each is also known for being warm,
inviting and clean, as well as so close to the ocean that you may be
able to smell it. You’ll be able to see it, regardless – in the Ocean
View Deluxe veranda accommodation, you’ll face it from a 400-square-foot
room with two queen beds and a shared balcony, on the hotel’s second
terrace. Ocean View Balcony bungalows let you have a kitchen and glimpse the waters – and
wharf, boardwalk and volleyball courts – from the same type of space,
but on the first terrace; Beach House suites look out to the Pacific
from an abode of 675 square feet, with surf shack-chic style, a king
bedroom, a living room with a fold-out queen sofa and Murphy bed and a

water, everywhere” pretty much describes your location. You could
hardly be closer to the beach, as you can see from the hotel’s front
door – the crashing waves are just steps away. Ride them, by signing up
for a local surf class, or admire them from the boardwalk, which also
offers fantastic coasters and other kinds of amusement-park fun. Also
make a point to head downtown and go shopping.
How to Get There
We had such a lovely stay at the Beach Street Inn. The room was immaculate and the view of the beach and Santa Cruz boardwalk area were perfect. Such a great location and friendly staff. The heated pool and hot tub provided a lot of entertainment for the kids.
Thanks Jessica for all your help there.
This hotel is right on the water, walking distance to the boardwalk and the pier. the pool has been recently renovated, great for families with a shallow end, and also a hot tub. Rooms are very clean and well appointed. The staff were very friendly and laid back. We had a great time!
Comfortable and clean. pool was nice and very close to the beach and pier. I accidentally broke the TV remote and the lady at the front desk did not charge me for it. The coffee bar was pretty good too.
