Only get a ground floor room if you are deaf
Jacqueline W

Stayed here for one night because it’s near the airport. Got a ground floor room so we didn’t have to haul our luggage up a flight of stairs. Was incredibly noisy. Could hear people walking around above us. The floors were super squeaky. Could also hear all the plumbing. We had two white noise machines and could still hear everything. Beware!

An “ok” 2 Star Hotel in Santa Barbara

Recently, we stayed at the Pacifica Suites in Santa Barbara. It is an “ok” 2 Star Hotel in Santa Barbara.

Unfortunately, it advertises itself as a 4-Star Resort.

- 1st, The rooms are tired and dated (pls see pictures). Everything seemed old and many things did not work. For instance, the hairdryer bolted on the wall did not work; the thermostat or A/C did not work (fortunately, it was cool outside - so we needed to open all the windows for the evening to keep the temp $ 325 per night (especially when the Ritz Carlton Resort was prices at $399 per night nearby).

Proximity to UCSB only saving grace

Proximity to UCSB!
Beautiful gardens and grounds
Suite sized rooms - you get 2 rooms, the front room with fold out couch plus the bedroom.
There is an outdoor pool.

Rooms close to freeway
NO FITNESS CENTER (even though the internet ads claim they have one)
Breakfast has limited choices, especially if you are allergic to eggs!
TVs do not have any ability for you to login to your Netflix.
Not very handicapped friendly - you will need the ground floor if you are handicapped.

We stayed here because of the proximity to UCSB.
The clientele ranged from families with young kids to groups of single men looking for a good time.

We need a gym every place we stay and were disappointed to find out they send customers to a gym 7 minutes away and you pay $10 per visit! This was not cool and I would have forked over the extra money to stay in a hotel with an actual fitness center. Only with a lot of complaining did the front desk clerk give us 2 complimentary passes to the gym, good for one day only. She claimed she had to talk to the manager. She disappeared and returned many minutes later with no satisfactory response. I asked to speak with the manager and she informed me there was no manager (!) but the "manager" would be in on Friday.

They put us in a building at the very farthest end of the property so there were no parking spaces close by. We booked using Orbitz, so maybe this is where they put the Orbitz people. Some rooms have balconies - we did not get one of these rooms.

On the plus side, since we were in the farthest building, we did not have to listen to the noise of children playing in the pool. It was a far walk to breakfast or the hotel lobby.

As for breakfast, my family is allergic to eggs and eggs were offered with every breakfast. But the chef was willing to give my husband only hashbrowns and bacon so that was good. The pastries are inedible. There is no toaster. Coffee was decent. If you like eggs, you have many choices - over easy, omelets, scrambled, etc. etc. There was cereal, but all sugary. There was also yogurt, all sugary. No plain. The only fresh fruit were oranges and red delicious apples. They did have bananas a few days.

Hermosilla, the maid, was wonderful and very accommodating.
