How to Get There
This is a very nice hotel. I love having two rooms with two tvs for when we are in the room at night. There is a refrigerator in the room that kept our food very cold and we asked for, and got, a microwave which was great for reheating leftovers. The room had a bathtub which is something you don't get at Best Western Plus South Coast Inn which is the hotel we usually stay in when visiting our daughter at UCSB. This hotel is very close to UCSB. Our room faced the parking lot but it was still very quiet and there was a patio. The shutters let in lots of light early in the morning which we could have done without, but it was fine. The rooms were very large and well equipped with everything you would need. The wifi worked fine and there were 4 premium tv channels.
The jacuzzi was very nice and very warm which we appreciate. They were out of towels when we got to the pool and they were replaced immediately. The historic house on the property is interesting and it is free to walk through and look at the old pictures. They have bikes available, but they charge to use them. They also had cookies in the lobby one or two afternoons that were tasty.
The breakfast was very nice and the chef was extremely polite and helpful, worked very hard and did an excellent job! We don't typically get housecleaning service during a short stay, but they seemed to be hard at work in other rooms, and they always offered each day promptly in the morning.
We were there for three nights over a three day weekend so we were not there for the evening social. I will never understand why hotels other than Embassy Suites do not continue their evening socials on weekends. If they did, I would definitely make sure to choose Pacifica Suites every time we stay in Goleta which is about 10 times a year for 3 nights or more at a time. As it is, we will stay at whichever hotel is less expensive.
The cost is pretty high, but that is true of most hotels in this area, even the Motel 6 is expensive considering what you get, although we have never stayed at one.
We stayed here for two nights over Presidents Day weekend to visit Santa Barbara for our daughter's college. Location was great for the proximity of UCSB and student housing. Hotel was quiet and comfortable nice size room. Perhaps needs some updates but all in all good. Breakfast was very busy and can be hard to find a table at times. Pretty lobby and nice pool.
We enjoyed our first stay at the Pacifica Suites. Check in was fast. The room was large and comfortable. We appreciated the free bottles of water. The made-to-order breakfast was quick and tasty. We also enjoyed the coffee machine. For a machine, the coffees came out pretty good! We will definitely look to stay here the next time we come down.
Based on previous reviews we requested a room facing the pool on second floor which buffered us from the freeway noise and upstairs guests. Breakfast was just OK, very crowded room, and staff did not pay attention when utensils ran out or when the coffee thermoses were empty. The cooked-to-order eggs were better than those found in warming pans at other hotels, however. The king bed was quite uncomfortable and the pull-out sleeper couch was awful. We won't be returning.
Our son is a baseball player in his final season at UCSB. Because we live too far away to commute, we always stay at Pacifica Suites. The amenities, location and especially the staff could not be better! They make it like home for us! The rooms are great size, we love the decks and all of the trees and pathways. We have a small service dog that loves it at Pacifica Suites as much as we do. We could not be happier! Thank you Luis and team for providing us our home away from home. Mark and Christine C
