How to Get There
The hotel is situated in a great location in the Montecito Village. Dont expect large rooms, they are small albeit adequate. Sound quality inside rooms are poor, an one can hear everything through adjacent bathrooms.... Not enough large social amenities in Lobby area, actually entrance felt cramped. Expected the Charlie Chaplin aspect to be heightened with more historical information and photos.
Excellent hotel and staff. We have enjoyed this hotel for over 10 years. Both Nick and Paula do an excellent job assisting their guests and making our stay both relaxing and memorable. We just stayed here to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday. They made our stay e tea special.
I have stayed here twice in the past month for business. Very old Hollywood feeling, but modern and clean. The bed is very comfortable with softest sheets ever. It has everything I needed and I loved the location, the original elevator, and the staff was very courteous, professional and welcoming. Open spaces in the lobby are also nice, and complimentary fruit, water, coffee and tea at all times!
The Montecito Inn is unique in the fast paced world. It is a beautiful property and once you set foot inside you feel you are on vacation! Close to many fun activities and on a lovely street. Always my favorite weekend get away! Thank you to all the staff for their kindness.
Charlie built this hotel to escape Hollywood. Ellen lives nearby. Montecito is a refuge for actors.
This lodging place will last forever.
Elevator is quaint with a gate that closes before you ride. Each room has silent a/c curtain equiptment. Rooms are the best decor I have seen. Right around the corner from the Four Seasons Biltmore.
Restaurant serves 5 star dining for lunch and dinner. Parking is covered and secure. Be prepared to see the latest fastest cars around.
Check in has an old fashion wooden counter. It dates from when the hotel first opened in the 1920's
Coast Village Road in which the property is located was part of Highway One. There was no freeway 101.
Montecito is a village, adjacent to Santa Barbara. The finest restaurants are here as well as women's clothing and jewlery shops. A Safeway borders the opposite end.
Bathrooms are brillantly clean. Windows are insulated so no road noise. A single stay will not be enough, you will return. Close to the beach. Buses stop in front. Senior fare is a dollar. Ride to downtown and take an open air bus to Stearns Wharf for a quarter.
A bar is adjacent to the inn. CVS across the street. Real estate offices dot street. Hotel was a refuge for residents caught in last years mudslide.
Charlie Chaplin was the unmatched star of the silent film era. Now an hours drive north of Los Angeles. In his day, a half a day. Montecito and Santa Barbara were rural farming communities.
Charlie was the first movie star to reside here. You will see why.
