Wife and stayed here for a night. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was super nice and helpful! The rooms were very comfortable. We really enjoyed the bikes they have available for guests. This is a great place to stay for a weekend getaway.

We stayed here for my husband's birthday in the fall and it was beyond beautiful. We had our own fireplace in the room, there was a view of their beautiful garden and it was beyond cozy and inviting. The hiking trails behind the property were a must! We grabbed a bottle of wine and a few local cheeses and hiked up to a beautiful point to watch the sunset. We will absolutely visit again.

Cozy But Elegant

Having lived in the Bay area for a number of years, we always are on the lookout for places that are reasonably close but offer a real "getaway" feeling. The Seal Cove Inn is one such a place. Tucked nicely in Moss Beach, with immediate access to wonderful walks in the woods, the beach, as well as the ability just to relax either in your room, the common area of the inn, or the beautiful yard, The Seal Cove Inn is a great find. The staff are extremely amiable, knowledgeable, and professional, providing as much information about the area that one can inquire. The option to have your breakfast delivered to your room at a certain time, or to take it in the dining area works well particularly if you plan to either sleep in or want to get started on an active day. With an excellent expresso coffee maker, fresh baked "signature" chocolate chip cookies or oatmeal raisin cookies daily, it's difficult not to enjoy the Inn. The Cypress suite is highly recommended with the gas fireplace, well-appointed room, comfortable bed and bedding, double-sink bathroom and walk-in shower. There is a great view of the yard from the balcony. A make-up mirror would be a recommended enhancement. The only problem encountered during a 3-day stay was the furnace stopped working for one day and night. It was repaired so the issue did not persist during the entire stay. For a getaway from the daily routines and the hubbub of the Bay area, the Seal Cove Inn is an easy ride and will definitely feed the soul.

A HIDDEN GEM! A total respite from the crowds and just a smidgen away from 5 stars.

New to the South Bay Area my husband and I wanted a quick getaway to the coast and chose Half Moon Bay. Seal Cove Inn seemed a little off the beaten path and boy did I choose wisely. The town was insanely packed but going to this little B and B felt completely private and serene. It's just a short distance off of Highway 1 but you feel like you are in a different world. From the moment you pull up it just oozes quiet charm. Our check in was delightful. The room was immaculate. The bathroom although small looked recently remodeled quite tastefully. We had an upstairs room with a balcony. You cannot see the ocean from any of the rooms but they do overlook a lovely garden. It's a short walk to the most spectacular cliffs and cypress trees and just a little longer walk to the Fitzgerald Preserve where you can see the seals Seal Cove is named after. We saw many whales in the distance as well. The inn holds a wine happy hour at 5:30 which is a really nice touch. Breakfast is included and although technically "continental" it was delicious and tastefully presented (albeit the croissants were a bit dry) You can choose to eat in the dining room, have it brought to your room or get it to go....we did all three. The last morning we had them pack up our breakfast and ate it overlooking the gorgeous cliffs. This is a bit of a hike from the town, so if you want to drive anywhere with weekend traffic be prepared for a VERY slow commute. However, there are two restaurants very close.....1)Moss Beach Distillery (what a sordid past this place has) walking in the dark is a bit precarious but fun 2) La Costenara, a Peruvian fusion restaurant a short Lyft ride away. The hospitality at this Inn just cannot be beat - it was spectacular. The location is even more spectacular and ESPECIALLY if you want to get away from the crazy weekend crowds at the coast. The ONLY downsides are A)the furniture is in need of some serious upgrading...it's very worn and the chairs by the fireplace were incredibly squeaky. B) They still use comforters and a lot of throw pillows.....you know no one ever washes throw pillows so I find that kind of offputting and dated but maybe I've watched too many "Hotel Impossible"s lol. If they would upgrade the worn furniture however and maybe lose the dated pillows, this place would truly be 5 stars.Regardless I HIGHLY recommend this place for a quiet coastal getaway.

Nice property

Stayed here for two nights. Our room was nice and clean; a king with a balcony and a fireplace. The balcony had a view of the backyard which was very peaceful. Notes which may make a difference to some guests:
** if you are nearsighted, it may be a challenge to put on make up. Other than the bathroom mirror, which is too far, there are no other mirrors in the room.
** we were on the second floor, we could hear all the noise downstairs, I could definitely hear the innkeeper as early as 9:00 a.m. so if you like to sleep in, beware. At night the hotel was very quiet.
** it is a little strange that while they will deliver breakfast to your room (cold breakfast only) you have to get coffee or tea yourself.
** we booked the hotel about two weeks before staying, so our rate was on the high side
