Most relaxing weekend ever.

The Seal Cove Inn is amazing. It's not only a beautiful inn, with it's grand stair case and large windows, but it is in a beautiful location. The gardens and the cypress forest behind the inn provide a very relaxing environment. We had a wonderful time walking along the bluffs, sitting in the garden, and just relaxing in our room and on the balcony. The staff is very courteous and the amenities are wonderful. The mattress in our room is one of the best we have ever slept on. We hope to make this an annual event.

More than everything you expect

Wish our travels took us to this region more often - we'd be here every time! We heard the waves of the ocean and the birds and frogs each day and night - not overwhelming but comforting and peaceful. Ate breakfast and our evening snacks outside on our private porch. Easy walking access to restaurant, the beach, nature trails. Service with a smile. Great breakfasts and afternoon wine/nuts. Amazing bed, sheets, custom soaps/lotions with essential oils.

Very Special Inn!

We loved everything about our stay at the Seal Cove Inn! What a find! A room with cozy fireplace, French doors opening out onto a charming English garden (complete with Peter Rabbit), beautifully presented, fresh and delicious breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff - what more could we want? Perhaps being just a short stroll from a row of gorgeous old Cyprus trees, Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, tide-pooling and cavorting seal pups/moms. I wished to stay for a week!

The pro’s: the rooms (we stayed in two) were just like the pictures, the breakfasts were gorgeously presented, and the hotel’s setting among the cypresses was beautiful.
The con’s: an odd intermittent humming noise that went on and off all night long, randomly, every few seconds. We had to change rooms because of it, but nothing -- not even reporting it the next day -- helped. Also, apparently no hotel staff is present at the inn during the late evenings and overnight. The guests seem to be left utterly alone, like in The Shining, with only a “call this number in emergency” notification. For the price, that’s unexpected and disappointing. Finally, small things: no full-length mirror, no mirrors at all other than in the bathrooms and no magnifying mirror anywhere, and in our first room, the shower temperature could not be adjusted without actually standing inside the shower. For what was supposed to be a special weekend, this hotel was a let down, sadly.

Unexpected gem on the California coast

We were headed to a dinner party near Half Moon Bay, and decided to find a place to stay the night. What a pleasant surprise to find the Seal Cove Inn. Secluded down a side road in Moss Beach, the decor was clean and elegant, and our room was quiet, wonderful linen on the perfect King bed, nice nutritous breakfast, complete with a walk to the bluffs overlooking the ocean afterwards. Very helpful and courteous staff. We have stayed at the Ritz Carlton, and frankly clearly would prefer to go back here rather than the hotel. We will return!
