Great for a Moms getaway
Reviewed 4 days ago

The 2 of us ‘middle-aged mamas’ had fun during our 1 night stay. This place has a lot to offer. Attractive clean room, comfy beds, pretty lake views, attentive staff. On a whim, we kayaked for an hour on the lake. Also we soaked in the hot tub. At about 9pm, we entered the onsite restaurant, Decoy, & were greeted by Manager John (I hope I got your name right!). The restaurant was full being graduation day. We waited to be seated, unaware that they had just closed. All employees seemed very busy. Soon a waitstaff saw us & said that they had closed at 9:00 so we couldn’t have dinner. Disappointment! I silently wondered (paranoid maybe) if our wet disheveled hair, beachy dresses, my Crocs lol made it easier for that staff person to curtly tell us that dinner was closed. Maki g the best if it, I asked the bartender for glasses of water & he was great. So, the two of us sat, sipped our fancy water, & relaxed in the nice chairs. Then surprisingly the manager came to check in with us, telling us that yes we could order dinner because the kitchen was still open for the many guests there. Thanks to Manager John, we had soup & salad & ended the night positively. John personally took our orders, refilled our waters, presented our dinners, & was the best.
So, I write this review as a local resident who is grateful that this place has such a kind, flexible, efficient, well-spoken employee like John. I’ll return with my family next time.

Beautiful Lake & Light Show

Very friendly staff at reception desk....able to accomodate an early check-in request which was so appreciated! Room 2109 was disappointing with heavily stained carpeting with one section patched with another color. Had to ask housekeeping to clean the interior side of entry door as it apparently had been splashed with some dark liquid on the white door. There was a large insect crawling on the floor. There was no pen, paper, shower cap, makeup mirror, clock or water except for $5.00 bottles for sale. The water pressure in the shower was lacking. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were lumpy. Towels were great. Decoy Restaurant meals a hit & miss ~ first day there, had a wonderful salad, the Harvest Salad comprised of aples, candied pecans, beets, roasted buternut squash, pear, pemegraniate seeds, goat cheese, red onions, mixed greens, apple cider vinaigrette and I added grilled chicken ~ from the variety of fresh ingredients to quality of ingredients to presentation all wonderful. Sadly, waitress never removed the empty plates even 30 minutes after we had finished. My husband loved his butternut squash soup. First morning/second day, had an EXCELLENT breakfast served by an EXCELLENT WAITRESS, MONICA. Had eggs cooked to perfection, fresh fruit which was perfectly ripened and sweet, crisp bacon, english muffin and preserves. Service with Monica was such a delight, so friendly, welcoming, professional and most attentive. Monica seems to be the only staff member who clears dishes after the meal has been eaten. Also, Monica will refill water glasses without being asked. Later in the day, ordered the Harvest Salad but, sadly all was amiss. The salad took 40 minutes to arrive looking like someone simply tossed a small amount of greens with a few morsels of fruit. Eight ingredients were missing. A minute before the food arrived, our waitress announced meals would be complimentary due to a problem in the kitchen. Turns out they were missing a cook during lunchtime. The next day, arrived for breakfast and was told that the breakfast menu is not available on Sundays, only a buffet for $39.00 per person is available. Cannot give feedback on that as we opted not to have it. On our last morning, I was hoping that Monica would be on duty, but she was not. On our third and last morning, I ordered eggs over medium, crisp bacon, toast with preserves and fresh fruit. Eggs were just okay with brown whites due to not cleaning grill, soggy toast, soggy and spoiled cantaloupe, unripened honeydew, blackened burnt bacon and no preserves as they ran out the day before. My husband was looking forward to having the avocado mash as he thoroughly enjoyed it on a previous visit, but no such luck as it was disappointing. On a high note, the light show is really something to see. The lake is such a beautiful setting. The pool area is super. The cottage that we visited was lovely, with a beautiful vista lakeside, spacious and had comfortable living room and dining room furniture. Pontoon boats, kayaks, golfing....available.

A hidden gem

I have lived in Southern California my whole life and never even knew a place like this existed. It is close enough to LA, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I love the lake! My husband and I were on our honeymoon, and we loved the in room jacuzzi bath tub, the s’mores, and the size of the room. The weather was great and we kayaked a few times and had a blast! The staff was very nice and helpful. We look forward to spending some more time here.

Quaint hotel hidden in residential area

Room was as expected per the website. I paid additional for a premium room to get a shower with a bench seat. Got a tiny corner for shower products instead. The room was the corner room so that was cool. Quieter than most. I would stay there again. Very quaint and relaxing.

Overnight Stay for a Wedding

We stayed here for a friends wedding at Twin Oaks. They were accommodating to us when we had to check in early. Everyone was friendly! The downstairs bar/restaurant was super fun and had a great view of the lake. Wish we stayed longer to take advantage of the free 1 hour boat rental/1 hour bike rental!

Overall this place a secret gem of San Marco's!
