How to Get There
Really disappointing experience. The lobby and Italian restaurant are lovely and food is really good. Great pasta and delicious breakfasts ordered a la carte. But the rooms are tiny and very tired. The carpet is threadbare and the aircon sounds like a factory generator. As another reviewer noted we also found hair both on the dressing table and in the bathroom. Yuk. More bizarre was the lack of available power. When we called reception to ask where the power points were it was suggested we unplug the lamp and use that. Not a great experience, particularly when the lamp plug was dusty and difficult to access down the back of the heavy desk.
I stayed for a Sharks game. This hotel is within walking distance but a little bit further than where I stayed before at the De Anza or the Arena hotel. The hotel had very friendly people that were helpful and the room was as I expected and as advertised, in fact they actually upgraded me to a king instead of a queen. The restaurant on site, Il Fornaio, was pretty good but overpriced for the quality. My big issue and reason for never planning to stay here again is that the price to park your car at the hotel is $55 a night and that was not advertised when I booked online. You can choose to park across the street in a public parking lot for $23 a night. I think this is crazy. I will stay at a hotel near the arena that costs more but has parking next time.
I am currently staying at this Westin and having a not great experience. I checked in, went into my bathroom and saw that there were handfuls of long hair stuck to the shower wall. Looking down at the tub, there were dark curly hairs in the bottom. If this was one hair, I would not have made a big deal and just cleaned it myself, but there was SO MUCH hair. So I called room service and asked them to send someone to clean the shower and tub since it had clearly not been cleaned since the last guest stayed. I left my room to go to dinner. I came back 3 hours later, checked the bathroom, hair is still there. No one had come to clean the room and it is 9pm now (and I want to take a shower). I call room service again and they say they will send someone right away. A few minutes later a nice man appears at my door . . . holding nothing but a dry washcloth :( I explain that I wanted someone to CLEAN the shower and tub, not just wipe the hair off with a dry washcloth. I'm currently still waiting for it to be cleaned. It makes me feel worry whether other parts of the room weren't cleaned since the last guest as well.
Really enjoyed this hotel. This is a beautiful hotel with alot of amentities. Rooms are are clean and comfortable. Front desk staff is very good . I would highly recommend visiting this hotel when visiting San Jose. 4.5 stars
Rooms were in very good condition, a little on the smaller side, but not a problem. Bathroom was very nice. Hotel has great common areas, but it was just two of us, so no need. We had happy hour in the restaurant which was yummy and inexpensive.
