How to Get There
Wonderful hotel and an exceptional staff! It is nestled in a great community with lots of Asian cuisine choices. It is only about 5 miles from downtown Pasadena. The workout facility is nice and has a lot of equipment!!!
This review is long overdue since I've been really busy. Anyway, back in November we had to evacuate our home because of the Woolsey fire. All hotels close to our house were fully booked, but the Hilton in Pasadena referred us to the Hilton Los Angeles/San Gabriel, which was 45 miles away.
Check-in was efficient and the check-in desk was very professional. We were given a large room with two beds, one of the few that were available at that time. The room was nice and the bathroom was spacious. The hotel was generous with toiletries. We were also given 2 goody bags containing snacks and water. There was a little mix-up in the reservations since the hotel thought we were only going to stay one night, but it was quickly resolved. Hotel personnel were very understanding in that we weren't sure how many nights we were going to stay - it depended on whether we would be allowed back into our homes. They did NOT change the daily rates regardless of how many nights we would have stayed. Service was excellent.
The hotel was right beside a little courtyard/mall that had shops and restaurants, which was very convenient. For breakfast, we checked out the restaurants close by, but found the hotel breakfast buffet to be better so we just had breakfast at the hotel.
The clientelle of this hotel was mainly Chinese and hotel staff was bilingual. I did not try their gym since we were just too tired.
Overall, I have no complaints and I appreciate that the hotel staff was understanding of our plight. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family. In fact, friends from overseas have stayed here due to my recommendation.
From check-in to requested late check-out; the service provided and attention to detail far exceeded our expectations. Well done to an amazing team that goes above and beyond to ensure the guest are provided the highest quality service.
The good: Excellent location, with many Asian businesses next door and a large Asian strip mall across the street. We were there in December 2018 and the lobby was cutely decorated with Christmas decorations. Good value.
The bad: A few blocks down is a much newer and nicer Sheraton that cost just a little bit more for an elegantly modern place. However, Hilton has better and closer businesses within walking distance.
The worst: Front desk Clemen(t/s) was the most arrogant and condescending hotel staff I have ever met. I was helping family whose English was limited on checking into the same room that she had just checked out of (due to two different bookings but back-to-back). Clemen(t/s) went off on a tangent lecturing me and made odd analogies about the check-in and out process and smashing sandwiches together. All I asked for was that my family member keep the same room that she had just check out of (which was still available). After he concluded his long-winded speech, we walked away and realize we need the keycard. I immediately returned to Clemen(t/s) to retrieve it and he told me off saying he was not done with us and "logically", a key card is needed to open the room. He is the reason why this rating is not a 4 star.
Luckily, they had a redeeming front desk person, Ricky, who was able to help with other questions. Ricky was incredibly professional, helpful, and kind with helping a non-English family set up wifi on her phone.
Would still recommend this hotel giving the benefit of doubt that Clemen(t/s) behavior is not representative of other staff.
we had a great experience. Staff very helpful. bed is very comfortable. we loved the breakfast selection available. no problem with parking. housekeeping very prompt. we felt welcomed . Great location, walking distance to several stores, supermarket and even pharmacy
