How to Get There
We were pleasantly surprised by this cute little hotel, tucked away in a less-than-desirable neighborhood but filled with charm and light. Front desk staff were kind and responsive; the room was very clean and cheerful, with pineapple references sprinkled throughout. The soaps, shampoos and lotions were delightful, and the bedding was soft and cozy. The bed was super comfortable, and I slept like a dream, even with the street just six stories below us. The robes were a delightful touch, and we enjoyed every aspect of our stay. When the front desk learned that the valet parking crew was running behind, they called us on the day of checkout to confirm what time we were planning to leave so they could be sure our car was ready for us. From beginning to end, our stay was lovely--we look forward to returning!
I've stayed at this property regularly for over a year but I am done. Hotel has been refurbished beautifully and is a great deal for SF. The rooms are a bit small but that was not a concern for me.
This last trip was the final straw - I stayed here the evening of 12/4 in Room 201. The fact this property even allows a room to be occupied that is next to both the service elevator AND the HVAC unit for the entire building is appalling, I never slept due to the constant noise. Shameful.
Add to the fact there is no acknowledgement for repeat travelers I can no longer ignore that this property in actually in the Tenderloin, not Union Square. If you book here be warned - there is no room service the room quality varies greatly and do not walk left as you exit the property as the neighborhood can be a bit sketchy (trust me, I lived in SF for 20 years until 2015). Safe travels all!
We were so impressed with our stay here. The staff was always friendly and very helpful to us. Loved the beautiful decor of this hotel. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were cozy. And the pineapple muffins and coffee in the lounge in the afternoon was the perfect touch. Thank you 😊
My wife and I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and we were pleasantly surprised! We were looking for a cheap downtown option after our wedding and we stumbled upon the Staypineapple. We were a little concerned on our drive over because on the way it, it's a pretty rough area. However, we were stunned when we walked in and it was beautiful and the staff was incredibly friendly. The room looked great (a little small but it's downtown SF). It was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We didn't get to use many of the amenities here, but we would absolutely stay here again!
This place is fantastic, soon as you walk in you feel welcome. The interior is lovely, very elegant and modern-looking.
I've seen some say the rooms are a bit small, but it was perfectly enough for me! A lone traveller, I felt I had more than enough space for my things and myself. Plenty of amenities, too, good sized TV to chill out, water and coffee available in the room, the bed was really comfortable, with a modern looking, and well-sized, bathroom.
The staff would go out of their way to help you out, I'm terrible with names but in particular Stephanie, Ken, and the gentleman on the door (whose name escapes me, unfortunately, but from talking to him found he was from Costa Rica,) really stood out! Stephanie was always more than happy to give me new places to go, and the best routes in order to get the most out of my journey.
The rooms were immaculate, the housekeeping staff do a fantastic job every single time, I'd come back and it would be absolutely spot-on.
All in all, this place is a brilliant hotel, they made my time in San Francisco even better, and I couldn't recommend the place enough!
