How to Get There
This imposing hotel is in the heart of the great city, in the nob-hill area. A large number of tourist attractions are near-by, walking distance. Of course, the city is very large and sprawling so "walking distance " can have different meanings.
We stayed here on 2 occasions, with 2 weeks in between. It is situated on a steep hill. The entrance area from the street (California Street) is very pretty, with nice fountains. The check-in process was always very efficient. The rooms are very spacious and clean. We had a great view of the city as we were on the 6th floor.
Breakfast is in the restaurant on the ground floor. it is very sumptuous and 2 levels of breakfast are available: continental ($20 pp) or fully cooked ($35 pp, I think). Evening dinners are also served and they were excellent.
The Stanford Court has always been a nice hotel in San Francisco. But be warned, they have remodeled the hotel, and it has gone from classy to modern. Personally, I hated the décor. The carpet design in the halls is hard to look at. So, check the pictures online and decide if you like the décor, and book accordingly. With the exception of the horrible décor, the Stanford Court remains a nice hotel.
We spent a weekend in the city and Stanford Court was the perfect place to stay! The location was perfect, the view from our room was spectacular and the overall aesthetic of the hotel is photo worthy. Can't wait to come back!
Stayed for one night and great time in the city and a better one in the hotel waking up with a view of San Francisco (Powell street) will coming back very soon. One thing I really like was the price for the view, next time it’s breakfast in bed 😃
Overall nice hotel in the middle of SF. Hotel was clean and everyone was very friendly. Only downside was that there was no room service available and my room was on the trolly line as well as next to some building construction so it was pretty noisy during the morning and day - assuming that will end soon so only a temporary issue.
