Had a Great Stay!

We really enjoyed Hotel Spero! It is in a great location close to public transportation and within walking distance to good restaurants. The room was a bit small, but clean and comfortable. The best part was being greeted by Jairo everyday!! What a great guy!! He is the concierge at the door and always had a huge smile for us and helped with anything we needed. He remembered us by name and treated us like we were old friends! Would love to go back just to visit with Jairo!!

Very nice hotel but....

I spent one night at Hotel Spero and I found the room to be very nice. I booked a king size bed and so it was a very large room. I had two nice size windows that overlooked the street below and tall buildings. The bed was super comfy, and I found the room to be clean and nicely decorated.
The down side was the location, not in a great area but on the border of union square and Tenderloin area which is
"Yuck" forgive the fancy word but not sure how to describe. That is the only bad point I find with this hotel but It would not prevent me from staying there. I felt safe to go down and have a cigarette at night since there was always people coming and going.
They do not have coffee maker in the room which I so not like, however coffee is provided in the lobby in the morning and a water station to fill your water bottle. Overall a nice place.

Horrible Experience

I originally booked a room with double beds. The couple that was going to stay with us canceled so i asked if i could be switched to a single bed room. They first said no when i called. Then upon check in they said yes they can do it. No smile, no hi, no how are you. The front desk girl just started typing. The. Handed me the keys. When i went upstairs the room they switched me to was right off the elevators and it was the tiniest room i have ever seen. If i knew i would have kept my double bed room. The window looked to another building. It was an awful room and I paid $700 for it. Never once they bothered to tell me anything about the room that they switched me to. I booked this room to celebrate my husband 40th birthday and felt super disappointed. I felt cheated honestly. Then i accidentally left my boots in the room so i called to ask them if they would look or ask about them. They told me that they were going to call me back and never did. I am so upset with this entire hotel staff that i would never recommend anyone to stay here. The service is horrible
