Felt like royalty!!

The hotel, overall, was great!! Super comfy rooms, nice amenities, clean and friendly staff. But let me just call out the AWESOME experience I had in the restaurant that left me feeling like royalty!! First, I’ll tell you that I’m vegan. On my first morning I went to the buffet and was not impressed with the spread... not much there for someone who doesn’t consume animal flesh or secretions. I chatted with my server, Joaquin, who was super helpful and offered some ideas for when I returned the next morning!! Yay!! Then on my way out I spotted a friendly looking woman at the entrance podium and asked if I could make a suggestion. This turned out to be Regan, director of food and beverage, and she was MORE than willing to accommodate my dietary needs. She promised to speak to the chef(s) to make sure I had some delicious options for the remainder of my stay. The next morning, upon my arrival to the restaurant, she and Joaquin both greeted me with a warm smile and Regan let me know that she’d been waiting for me and that she and sous chef, Annabelle, had some great options for me. I chose the breakfast tacos with grilled tofu, black beans, avocados salsa, etc., a side of hash browns and a fruit plate. I also requested that these items be oil-free too. OMG!! They delivered an AMAZING breakfast!!! I couldn’t believe how delicious and beautiful it was (presentation is just as important as flavor!). The next day I had a delightful skillet with too many veggies to list, a roasted tomato, hash browns and fruit. Wow!! Just WOW!!! They not only accommodated me, they truly delivered a culinary experience!!! I hope these items will become part of the normal menu!! I think vegans and non-vegans alike will love them as much as I did!! Thank you Joaquin, Regan and Annabelle!!!

I stayed at the Westin SD for a 9 day conference. The hotel has an odd lobby, but the staff was very nice checking in and accommodating. The rooms were on the small side, but clean and had all of the needed items. The restaurant had a nice bar which served some tasty appetizers. I requested a quiet room and received a nice corner shaped room. The hotel is about a 10-13 min walk to the convention center and the gaslamp area. We took an Uber each morning at 5:30 am to the convention center, as the walk that early in the morning, wasn't safe in the dark for a group of ladies. In the late afternoon, we'd walk back to the hotel as a group. Room service staff was very nice and answered all requests i submitted.

Great Location

Stayed here on a Saturday night with my wife just to get out of LA and have a night away. The Westin had good rates and a solid location. We walked in without a reservation and talked to Leon at the front desk who was funny, helpful, and professional. He got us a great room with a view for a fair price. That was a perfect start to a very fun trip. Thanks, we’ll be back!

We travel a ton and are SPG members so we frequently stay at Westin's. I will say, this was the first less than wonderful experience we had. Apparently there was a conference the night before we checked in (Friday) so they hotel was completely booked the night before. We arrived 1.5 hours before check-in and were told a room wasn't ready and that there was a waiting list 25 people long but it was "moving quick" and we did a "pre check-in." We waited the 1.5 hours and still no one came to let us know our room was ready and it was now check-in time. After waiting in a 15 min long line, and another 15 min at the counter, I was told a room was ready (and it was now 30 min past arrival time.) . I found this extremely frustrating as it was well past the check-in time, we had to wait in line TWICE to actually check and if you knew you had a fully booked hotel on a Thursday, why weren't you staffed to handle that on a Friday?? The hotel itself is typical Westin quality and it very nice and the location is great to many places to eat/drink. Our fridge was broken in our room but it was quickly replaced, which was good though you'd think the service would have known that? Not to mention our room was barely clean. There were long hairs on the desk and the trash wasn't completely emptied. I will say, this was extremely disappointing for a Westin no matter how busy they were the night before.
