How to Get There
Nice hotel near the airport with free shuttle service. For Marriott Bonvoy members, there’s a concierge lounge that’s open 24/7. The hotel does not give hassles in giving upgrades when available.
However, a dealbreaker for me at any hotel, no matter how great it may be, is to encounter a rigid and inflexible manager who decides to get me to checkout at noon or 1 pm, rather than extend the checkout to between 2 and 4 pm like most other hotels. First I was told they needed the room because they were sold out; then they said they were nearly at full capacity; when I searched online and found multiple rooms available, the hotel then changed their statement to “we’re sold out for the type of room you’re in”.
Surely, if checkin is at 4 pm, the hotel ought to let Platinum or Titanium guests/family stay until 2pm or 3 pm? It doesn’t take more than 30 minutes to clean a room.
Next time in this area, we’d rather take a cab to the Marriott Marquis Hotel, The US Grant Hotel or any other more highly rated hotels in that area.
There’s always those managers here and there who prioritize their “cleaning schedule” over the comfort and happiness of their guests. 😕
We stayed at this Sheraton location for the weekend, and enjoyed everything, food , view, etc but specially the pool area, it has a BEAUTIFUL view to the Marina, the pool area personnel really helped us on having an amazing day, they’re so courteous and attentive, can’t remember one of the female server’s name but she was so sweet, the male server Julio was the best!! Such a great guy, he got us our food and drinks always with a smile, really made us feel at home.
A shuttle is waiting for you at the airport without needing to call them for the 10 minute ride. Easy entry and to your room. Walk a bit long, but view delightful in two-story suite (only $199/night plus taxes). Beds very comfortable- firm but soft. Temperature good if you find the controls.
Breakfast in the club room with fantastic view and decent, but unimaginative food. Outstanding fresh fruit with the sweetish pineapple, but the scrambled eggs are cold.
Service and cleaning are fine.
I have stayed many places in SD for work and this was by far the nicest. Especially the bar and restaurant. I had a the same sandwich every day I was there and the staff could not be more friendly. I would recommend this place to everyone and anyone.
We stayed at multiple Marriott owned Hotels in this area with Airport Shuttles, to decide on which one that we would make our go-to SD Hotel (monthly trip)
We are diehard Marriott fans.
This Sheraton caters to Airline Personnel and has numerous rooms blocked for them.
Check-in was friendly and easy.
Dated room was clean and comfortable, especially the bed.
Views could be nice depending were they put you.
Not much within walking distance here.
We didn't have much of a view, lowest level overlooking the parking lot,
Balcony was worthless, no privacy and dirty.
Add the Resort Fee to that and our experience was just blah..
That leaves us to decide on these two Hotels....Courtyard Liberty Station (stayed there numerous times) and Residence Inn by Marriott San Diego Downtown/Bayfront.
Neither of which had a Resort Fee attached.
I will review them separately.at another time.
