Beautiful hotel - close to everything

Don't let the idea of an airport hotel fool you - this hotel has it all. Clean, spacious rooms, great restaurant, friendly staff, etc. I had Club Access so it was wonderful to get free breakfast and appetizers at night. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Very Large Yet Personal and Well Equipped

Staying here for 2 nights was not very long yet I used most of the amenities: Executive lounge (upgrade 40$), fitness, restaurant, bar, and pool.

Very capable, a bit long wait checking out due to only one receptionist on the desk, I had to go to the concierge and ask her to call in the back to get someone out.

All in all a great stay, great service, views and all around just a great place to stay within walking distance to the airport.

Not sure why I was charged a "Resort fee"

Now that Marriott has merged with Starwood, I thought I would try a Sheraton property. We stayed five days and were put over in the older Lanai section, supposedly because it was the only building with a king bed. I guess my Platinum Exec status with Marriott did not mean much with Sheraton. Our Lanai building elevator was out of order for all five days, and no one even bothered to put a sign on it, so we got some exercise carrying our luggage up three flights of stairs. This hotel has a nice layout by the marina but I cannot figure out why they charge a "Resort fee" in October, because the pool bar was closed and they provide no amenities outside. The airplane noise from the airport next door is very loud in the Lanai complex, especially between 7-8am, and 10-11pm. I guess that's when the big planes head to the east coast. The food was very good in the restaurant (especially breakfast), and the service in the concierge lounge was top notch. Overall, I give it a mixed grade. Some pluses, some minuses.

Short stay in San Diego

My brother an I stayed here for two nights. I can’t fault the hotel easy checkin, our suite on the 11th floor had good views of downtown San Diego and could see the USS Midway also had views of the airport and runway but we knew we where right next to the airport. The club lounge was great open most of the day good selection of food fro breakfast. Nibbles and soft / hot drinks available all day. Evening hors d'oeuvre and nice and a cash bar. Rooms a good size and pool areas are tight on the harbour. Overall a good hotel just a shame about the noise but you expect that as so close to the airport, hotel also offers a free airport shuttle.

Old and tired

The hotel is located right next to the airport. If you only stay here for 1-2 days that can be really convenient. However, I stayed for multiple days and the location is sub-par in that case. Going downtown can take you 20 minutes in traffic. If you want a more lively environment, go book a downtown hotel.

From 6.30am till 11.30pm the plane noise can be quite hard. As in, really hard. Of course depending on the location of your room, but even in the middle part it can be quite hard.

The room was spacious and the bed was pretty good. There is also a big tv. The bathroom however is a bit of a disgrace. Old and dated. The bath is laughably small and in a really bad shape.

This is also showing in other parts of the hotel. The hotel needs an overhaul, sooner than later.

I had access to the Club Lounge which had an awesome breakfast. However, no room to sit while eating since it gets crowded. Also, the Wifi from the room didn't work in de Lounge. So, you had to re-apply. And vice versa. Walking thru the conference center there was yet another Wifi. This meant that walking around during the day, my laptop and phone needed to re-apply multiple times a day.

The staff was friendly overall and they have a nice bar in the hotel.

If you pay ~120,- a night, it's worth it. I paid 200+ and that's just a joke. Pay Sheraton money and think La Quinta quality.
