How to Get There
Stayed at the Marriott Marquis for a conference occurring at the hotel. I had a very nice, peaceful stay at the hotel while attending a 2 day conference. The hotel staff was kind and helpful. The hotel also had various amenities to choose from and the one I utilized the most was the gym which was clean and had a good selection of equipment to choose from. The room itself was very tidy and comfortable which enabled me to get a good night's rest. The view from the room balcony was also very nice. My stay at the Marriott Marquis was quite enjoyable and I would stay here again if I found myself in the area. An additional bonus was the location as it is close to the convention center and near to the Gaslamp District.
I’m unfortunately only on day 2 of a four day stay, but this hotel has been nothing but lacking, thus far. Before check-in, I tried to use my Bonvoy Suite Night awards. I was turned down, but not until the day of. (Not specific to this property, but SNA’s are virtually useless. I have tried to use them over ten times YTD, and they have been granted only once.)
Knowing I wouldn’t get a suite, I still expected a decent room given my Titanium status. Instead, I received a tiny cracker-box room on a low floor with a view of a rusty restaurant roof. The decor and furnishings are painfully-dated, with a vibe reminiscent of the 1980s. Room only had one nightstand, meaning my wife and I couldn’t even read or put down a drink bedside at the same time. Room also had no bottled water and the coffee/tea had not been restocked. Only an empty box next to the coffee maker.
Bathroom is super small and only contains a stand-up shower.
Overall, this hotel looks impressive from the street, but is severely-lacking from a comfort & service level.
I was super frustrated as we called to confirm our room yet upon arrival were told our room was given away and they didn’t have a room big enough to accommodate our family. As we were looking at different hotels on our phones they came up and said they had a room, still much smaller then what we booked but we made it work. The breakfast buffet here is amazing, and the kids play area outside on the pool deck is great.
