Great hotel and location

This is one of my favorite big city Marriotts that I have stayed in. The rooms are quiet and the black out shades are awesome. Staff is friendly and helpful and responsive to needs. Being two blocks from convention center and on block from 5th street it is in a perfect location.

Nothing special

We stayed here while we were attending a conference at the convention center. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from there so it is convenient to the center and to many nearby restaurants. When we drove up to the hotel my heart sank. It's dingy looking and dated on the outside. The lobby is more modern. Check-in was great because they identified us as members of their rewards program and gave us chocolates! The room was ok. There were stains on the carpet, the shower mat was filthy and unusable due to dirt, and the room needed a much freshening up. The tv was small and inside a small cabinet. What I did like about the room were: the bed was really comfortable, the room darkening curtains worked well, and housekeeping brought us a nice amount of toiletries. I walked around the area and saw many other more interesting looking hotels and wished we would have stayed at one of those.

Location can’t be beat

Stayed 5 nights while in San Diego for Eagles concert. The hotel is everything you would expect from a top flight Marriott property but it is the location which makes it outstanding. Petco Park, the restaurants of the Gaslamp Quarter, the Convention Centre are just steps away. Seaport Village, the USS Midway and Balboa Oark are all within walking distance. Rooftop lounge gives you great views of San Diego.

After a string of bad hotel experiences I am happy to report that this one is a winner. Clean, spacious, modern, stellar staff...very well done. I will be back for sure! Oh also, I received a bag of chocolate for having status. Even though I couldn't eat the chocolates it was such a kind way to recognize how often I stay at the Marriott.

San Diego

Throughly enjoyed my 4 day vacation in Diego, the quarters are quite accomodating and will meet the needs of your music, entertainment, sports, food and cocktail pleasures. I was blown away by the many electric scooters and rented bikes that a lot of locals use to get to and from different shops, bars, stores etc.instead of uber and lyft rides. Old Town is quite fascinating and historical as well filled with memorbilla, stores, shops, restaurants at very reasonable and low prices. A must see for ALL tourists has to be the USS Midway Battleship tour, Cornando Bridge, and of course Sea World and all 3 are and should be fan favorites that will leave you breathless and glad that you came.
