My family and I were happy with our entire stay, beginning to end, which made it VERY difficult to leave, but also now really looking forward to visiting again! While everyone we came across was very friendly, there were a few individuals that went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional, which we appreciate so much: A special "Thank you" to Gordy - Concierge; Ronald - Restaurant Manager; Sara - Bartender/Server.

We are a family of 4. The kids are 12 and 14. We chose this Hilton over other Hilton’s in the San Diego area because of the proximity to the Zoo, Sea World, La Jolla and downtown. We were concerned about the renovations and almost changed hotels as we dealt with that at another Hilton last year.
The only reason we don’t give it a 5 is because the rooms are a bit disappointing. We did have a renovated room on the bay/water front which made the room experience better. The room is tight for a family of four and hardly any storage for clothes. The bathroom is a nice size but they need to add counters, and a storage area for bathroom supplies.
On the 4+ side was the service and attentive needs to the kids and our needs. I’m fortunate to be a diamond member so I kind of expect great service. Ronald Q exemplified outstanding service and made the total 6 day trip exceptional. When the bar was packed for happy hour and the Bruins game and they were short handed, he stepped in and helped the staff. At breakfast, he was there to make sure everything ran smoothly.
We thought everyone at the front desk and the bellman were also very helpful along with the wait staff.
While I was disappointed about not getting the buffet on Easter, Ronald made sure they would accommodate us if we chose the Easter Brunch. We opted for the coffee shop that was less than optimal but the 2 ladies working the cafe were outstanding, kind and wished everyone a happy Easter even though they were slammed all morning.
We would recommend this spot despite other reviews. We did not experience any issues and would happily come back and visit this Resort.
The parking is a negative and the resort fee is a bit pricey for the amenities but the overall price is of good value.

Best resort staff I have encountered

We travel a lot as a family and for work. I have yet to find a staff so helpful. For starters - the resort is beautiful, kid friendly, nice rooms. This staff is exceptional - particularly Ronald Quiroz. . They perfectly anticipated our needs after a long trip and made it easy for the kids - in particular at dinner. Ronald made it possible for us to enjoy the family we had come to visit and we all want to come back. A definite recommendation. Thank you!

I will NEVER stay at this hotel again. It was appalling and the staff was rude and unhelpful. It is currently under renovation. My room toilet had been used and the patio was wide open. I had to walk through a construction zone to get to my room and then did not feel safe to move rooms. The staff refused to accomodate someone with a service animal the next morning so I offered up my new room and to wait for another. The new room, was across the poorly lit property, in a nearly vacant building, and the room had stained linens and curtains, also totally exposed to the beach and public property where random people were parked and wandering, and totally unsecured. Someone pounded on a door in the middle of the night and security never came when I called. The property is remote from town and has zero security for the rooms itself. I do NOT recommend this property for business travelers and DEFINITELY not for families traveling with children. Appalled this is a Hilton property.

Shocked at the service

I was there attending a conference. We had a reception by the pool. I was standing by the bar watching the Dodger game and moved to the other side to grab a seat in front of the other tv. The bar tender told me it was a closed event. When my associate told him we were part of the event he asked us what it was for to quiz us. It is sad that this day and age we are still being singled out for race. The hotel did nothing about his behavior and said it was standard policy.

The next day I had to take a shower in a pool of water. Engineering came out to fix it, but the next day I still had to take a shower in a smaller puddle. For a resort I would expect to have a shower that drains and to be treated like I belong.
