How to Get There
I made my reservation last year as soon as the dates were open to book. I had done some research on the best hotels to stay for the Big Bay Boom. I took advantage of checking in on the app the day before. Selected my expected arrival time & the room I wanted. I had selected a corner room (1765). I had been on Trip Advisor & looked at past guest pictures & had a couple of rooms picked out & since a corner room was available that was the top of my list. When I got there there was only 4 agents available for check in. During a holiday week I would expected more. The Hilton Honors line was slower than the regular line. I waited in line for almost 20 mins which wasn’t an issue....just yet. I was told the room I had selected was not ready & was offered a different room but I said I would rather wait for the room I wanted. I verified the room number & was told that’s the one I would be waiting for. Another 20 mins go by & we’re still waiting so at this point it has been 40 mins since the check in time I had selected on the app. I decided to go up to check if the room was ready or what was going on & the room was occupied!! By this time the check in line is longer so I go to the concierge desk but he tells me he doesn’t see any specific room attached to my name & that I would have to speak to another agent at the check in counter. I asked if there was any way I could get through the line faster since I had already waited but was told I had to wait again. So it’s a little after 5 by the time I get to an agent again. Ashley who was very nice tells me that they have me waiting for room 1725 which is not the room I selected. This was my 3rd time staying at this hotel & each time I have been told the room I select isn’t ready. I don’t understand why this is offered if it doesn’t even make the process easier. Ashley was nice enough to upgrade us to a higher floor at no additional cost & I was very appreciative of it but it took me over an hour to finally get into a room. We had dinner plans & wanted to rest a little after a long day of traveling & sight seeing before we had to get ready but weren’t able too. I would think checking in online the day before would make it easier on the guest & employees but it didn’t. I didn’t receive any complimentary waters for being a HH member or whatever else is given in the brown sack. I will say that the view from our room (2753) was great & we enjoyed watching the fireworks from there. The carpet was damp as if it had just been cleaned, there was a red stain by the bed closes to the window but thankfully we didn’t have any other issues during our stay.
Conviently located across the street from both San Diego Convention Center and Petco Park. Good for business travelers. My room had a nice view of the bay and the bridge. Hilton gold members get vouchers for continental breakfast, or for the Starbucks coffee shop. It's a ~10-minute walk to the Gas Lamp district, so if you want to be close there stay in the other Hilton, but that one is smaller and older than Bayfront. The location is also close to the airport, which is 10 minutes away by taxi or Uber.
I cannot thank Gordie Berry enough for making my birthday weekend at the Hilton Marina Bay SO special! Check in was super simple and our room had a beautiful view of the bay!
My friend had called Gordie earlier before we checked in, to arrange a birthday surprise for me and Gordie went above and beyond to see that all her requests were fulfilled - I was certainly surprised by the beautiful arrangment! Definitely a place to stay if your looking to celebrate something special.
Thank you to the wonderful staff for making my birthday weekend so memorable!
Currently staying here on a 7 day stay. Approx $300 a night, however next Wednesday the price rises to $800 a night.
Ok there is a Comedy event on, however if you’re staying for a lengthy period there should be some leeway.
Leaving and staying in another hotel for last 2 nights.
Anyway, the rooms are ok but I’m not sure of location: feel a little out of the way from downtown albeit it is only a 10 minute walk away.
A two day stay booked here and we could have stayed a month it was so good!
A great hotel in an imposing spot right on the waterfront, a fantastic entrance up a ramp to the second floor reception where we were greeted like vip's.
When we got to our room we had been upgraded to a bay view executive room on a high floor with a great view and the room was pristine, with two queen beds.
We eat in the restaurant which was very good and had as part of our deal either a continental breakfast or a Starbucks breakfast, we had one of each, the quality of both was great.
A great spot for exploring San Diego make sure you visit the peace statue just along the dock and the gas lamp district opposite.
A great hotel!
