How to Get There
I was in San Diego for a quick business meeting and this was our conference hotel. Wow, what a break from the usual business meeting mediocrity. Incredible views from the rooms, very quiet for good sleep quality, friendly staff, easy to the airport and close to attractions. You can't ask for more. Be sure to ask for a harbor view room. I would recommend walking over to the Gaslamp Quarter for meals. The hotel restaurant is adequate, but pricey for what you get.
There are some benefits, but for me they don’t outweigh the negative.
Clean, well maintained, convenient to convention center.
Paid for an upgraded room on my own dime. Nice room. Too bad I couldn’t see out the window due to a giant advertisement pasted to the outside of the hotel.
Did not appreciate paying extra for a room with a view when I couldn’t see past the add. Promised a credit, but never saw it.
Also, wasn’t happy that they began maintenance work on the roof and windows at 6:30am on Saturday.
Their smart room control doesn’t work.
Breakfast selection and food was nice, but the staff wasn’t.
I would only stay here again if I had a meeting in the hotel.
Would certainly not recommend for leisure travelers.
I’ll start with the positives. The front desk staff were great when I arrived - a very friendly welcome after a long day travelling. The room itself was a good size and the bed was one the the most comfortable I have slept in for a while. The bar on the entry level was a nice place to enjoy a few drinks in the evening. The pool was kept spotlessly clean and staff at the pool bar were on the top of their game. Breakfast was tasty and contained a large selection of food. The hotel messaging service on the app was very handy and reply times were quick.
Now the downsides. My room smelled of mould. Notwithstanding the fact that I messaged the hotel asking them to sort this out, nothing happened. Further, I’d booked a room with a view over the bay. The first day I enjoyed the view very much. The second day, I returned to find that the hotel had whacked up some tacky advert over the side of the hotel to presumably make a few bucks which completely obstructed the view I had paid for. The pictures will show you what I mean. Unacceptable.
